The song is great, but this is without question the greatest music video ever made. So far ahead of its time technologically, and as a story telling video, it has no peer. Your reaction of being pulled so much into the story is perfect!

@@andirandolph8830 Thriller to me is so much more than a music video. It's in a category all it's own without peer. Sledgehammer? Not really my thing, I think mainly because I like his older music much better than what he put out during this time but yes, the video is quite ahead of its time. I like Rockit too, but it doesn't have the moving "story" in it that this video does IMHO.

The song is more than 40 years old, but this version is 38 years. a-ha is Norwegian, but the production is by Warner. The synth riff was made back in 1977, so they were working many years on the song.

funny that when i was growing up i didn`t like this song at all, or Music much, but when you get older and maybe it`s because of autotune and basically back then music was not just a scientifuic audio algorhythm(!) , music was fun!

3 Norwegian musicians, 3 teenagers went to London to "make it". They almost gave up, due to endless "no's", taking "forever", strugling to survive, starving and difficulty findings ends meet. They didn't give up on their dream, and they hit the Jackpot. TAKE ON ME has become a CLASSIC, and sure does this EPIC ANIMATION vid help out as well!

This is seriously the MOST (repeat MOST) ICONIC song of the 80's. Theme song to "The Breakfast Club" which is the first movie of it's kind (A "Coming of Age" movie) and the MOST ICONIC movie of the decade. It set the style, tone, and attitude for Gen X growing up. I was a teen during this era. It captures so much. It is one you MUST know and not forget! Over a Billion views Guys! Major song here!

Morten Harket was Viking on the most recent series of the UK version of The Masked Singer. He sang the unplugged version of Take On Me in episode 5 just to troll everyone. Genius! None of the panel guessed him, even though it was blatantly obvious it was him from the very first week he sang.

Yeah, I was 13 when this came out - 49 now gulp! - and you need to try to understand there was nothing like this video in the charts or anywhere in games consoles etc (well not that was available to everyday people in the shops); it was groundbreaking. It also had a great storyboard - a girl loves a guy in a comic then gets trapped; both have to run away from baddies and she has to escape. In the end when it looks bleak then he escapes! So we had a great tune and an amazing, unique video. I think a lot of people are nostalgic for the video as well as the song :). Great reaction, thanks.

Many people from Scandinavian nations speak surprisingly good English and this group are clearly no exception to that rule. Scandinavian countries include: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. All 3 members of A-ha are from Norway. Although all three men are from Norway, they decided very early on in their careers that they should probably be better if they relocated to the UK and London. Makes things a lot easier for catching flights and going on tours etc.

Mags wrote this at around 14. Units sold. Only 308.000. Big gamble for Warner because this is the most expensive video ever made along with sowing the seeds of love. Tears for fears. Warner put their best foot out here. 2 guys drew the cartoon in a small studio. The technique of the cartoon is Rotoscoping and was originally pioneered by Walt Disney in the 30s. Njoy.

You should check out a-ha - Take On Me (Live From MTV Unplugged). It's an acoustic version. It's probably not reaction video material and it doesn't have the great synthesizer and electronic beat from the original, but it's a different take on the song that's pretty cool and you may enjoy
