Watching your first sister struggle while doing slip stitches instead of single crochet... I wanted to jump in and help her out, she was trying so hard!
I was constantly telling her in the video. You're doing a slip stitch. It would be easier the other way turn it, don't do one more loop. Okay, dude, no, don't do that yep, yep, okay.
I know!!! I didn't pick that up until I was editing but at least it's a problem with an easy fix, so if there's a next time, she might not have as much trouble.
Lol yeah the slip knot was the wrong way. Also that instructor video was horrible I was trying to correct her and give all the extra information that would have helped her!!!
You're sisters are amazing sports! It was so painful, yet hilarious, to watch. I wanted to help so badly. Awesome video as always and praying for your health.
“Editing Leigh” was on point!!! Your subtitles had me snorting w/mirth (*rooster noise* … ‘drunk ghost sound’ HAAAHAAAA😂). Your sisters were champs though and honestly? It’s kinda cool to be reminded of how freakin HARD it is to learn a new skill! I’ve always been an athlete (BASKETBALL FTW!) and a gamer so hand eye coordination has been easy and natural; crochet learning as a over-middle-aged learner completely neutralized the court, you know? We ALL start at the exact same spot. That stinkin slip knot and chain. I STILL dread chaining & would rather work w/a MR/MC than any chain, lol. Enough of my pontificating. WELL DONE, y’all! Super fun video! Cheers! ☺️🫶🏻🧶🧡
Thanks, this was honestly a lot of fun to edit. Trying to subtitle the noises themselves was a riot 😂. And you're 100% right, we all have to start somewhere 💙
GMO- You have made watching crocheting so much fun. I felt bad for laughing my head off (sorry sisters) but the laugh was much needed. I have tried to teach others and nope I couldn't do it because I wanted so bad to laugh - not away to keep someone trying. Your first sister was making slipknots and there was no way she could get the hook in but she did. I'm so impressed your sisters put themselves out there and did this for you. You are much loved, and we are blessed to see it.
I love the creativity for your content when you are medically down. I have two medical disorders that often keep me from being able to crochet and it's nice to see someone else struggle but continue on as well . 🎉
This is so funny, props to your sisters for giving it a go, if someone filmed me the first time I tried to crochet there would have been a lot more swearing 😂
They did an amazing job! It wasn't too long ago that I was dealing with the same frustrations. Particularly not knowing where the last stitch was, so I kept going! I've kept all of my first attempt swatches to remind myself how much I've learned, thanks to RU-vid tutorials like yours 🥰 Great job, ladies! 🧶
I loved this. I have been crocheting for years, but I feel your sisters' pain. Honestly there are a lot of beginner videos out there are not very good and I wonder how anybody learns with them. Great editing Leigh, this made for quite the entertaining video. Please do it again!
I literally bounced with happiness when sister 3 got her first successful chain stitch! And I really felt all of both of your troubles, because I have struggled the exact same ways. I'm still bad at crocheting flat stuff!
I moved out to my Sister’s house, she thought about my coming out there and she LEARNED how to crochet just for me ❤ I am ever so grateful for her doing that❤
This was AWESOME!!! Loved meeting two of your sisters. They are fun! I feel their pain. It took me over 15 years to learn to crochet. The struggle is real. I have successfully been crocheting for about 8 years now. I still make very simple things. But they are sturdy and hold up to anything you want to put them through. To me, that is the best feeling. What I make is to be used, not on display in a frame on the wall. To each their own. I think your sisters did great! It is a place to start. Thank you for sharing.
This really reminded me so much of when I first started crochet about 3 years ago and i really admire your sisters for doing this on camera. I was cheering you both on the entire time. I can’t tell you how many pieces I’ve started and have gone into the scrap pile for stuffing (or initially bin as I didn’t know better at the time) . Either by the wrong type of stitch, wrong number of stitches that can’t be fixed easily or I’ve stitched too tightly or too loosely… yeah it is definitely a learning curve 😂. Still absolutely love it now and I feel weird when I don’t crochet daily - I love to make amigurumi and flowers with crochet 💕.
I feel really bad for you sisters! Bless them they really tried. Maybe giving them a couple of different tutorial people would help? Often people find they click with different types of instructions, it may just be that the particular video they were watching wasn't in their learning style. They still tried really hard tho which was really sweet
❤ this video. They did EXCELLENT. 🎉 That’s how it was supposed to go with out practice. Next time - One step at a time. Slowly. Set the video they watch at a slower speed. Each step, a separate video to watch on a loop, until they get it. Like Slip knot, ch of 11, turning ch, 10 sc, turning ch, next row etc. with an explanation of why they are doing it, and a picture of final piece. Maybe with a list of crochet terms. Maybe have them watch the videos before hand, might help too. 😊 That is if you want them to ever try this again. 😂 Rest up, don’t pick up your hook, and take care of you. ❤ you will be back at it in no time.
Cheers 💙. That's kind of what we were going for. Throw them in the deep end this time so it leaves the door open for more in depth tutorials later on....if they're interested in doing it again that is lol.
This was a struggle to no yell out directions. I teach crochet and a lot of it is just trouble shooting the problems the sisters are having. I felt so bad for sister 3, I hope she keeps making chains she had so much fun once she got past the slip knot.
😂 This was something i needed. Thank you and to your sisters!!!!! ❤ I was completely glued to the screen that forgot what i was doing myself. So much wanted to help them...... Do we want part 2,3,4,5,6? Please do!!!!!! ❤❤❤ I was laughing so hard from all the noises and comments and sighs....... new skill is never easy but hilarious!!!!! 😅 Well done ALL OF YOU!!! ❤
"happy seal noises" just SENT me lol. My very first time doing crochet I made a scarf. It looked absolutely horrible, all wibbly wobbly, but I was SO DARN PROUD of myself for it that I wore it everywhere that winter lol. Now I'm making a lion hood for my youngest for Halloween. This video actually got me wondering how hard it would be to teach some of the homeschoolers in our homeschool group how to crochet hahaha
This. Was. Hysterical! First off, your sisters are such good sports for participating! Second, watching the two in the video try and crochet reminded me of how I get when I’m trying to learn a new stitch or technique. Frustrating! Throwing hooks! Cussing. lol You definitely should do another video so your other sister can participate!
@@masonelijahchapman8223 I've seen someone on a comment section once say "ooooh I just realized that I crochet since 10 years and I make slip stitches instead of single crochet!! That explains why my blanket took me more than 2 years to achieve!" 😅😅😅😅 And they came back few months after to say that this knew knowledge changed their life, if you can believe it! 10 years of slip stiches seems worse than hell 😅
Loved it❤ Props to your sisters. Hard for beginners and then add a camera... what good sports.❤ 2nd sister made me laugh so hard. Love her creativity and humor that came thru even if frustrated. 😂❤
Glad I knew about tension problems before I started learning, apparently saved me a lot of trouble. My first couple attempts were still a bit too tight despite my deliberate efforts to keep the stitches loose, but they weren't that bad. But that also gives me a lot of questions about that video not mentioning the single most frequent mistake I know about from watching other videos, as well as advice my mom gave to relatives trying to learn it.
Yes yes and yes wud love to see another video of this !! That was so fun !! Your Sisters were good sports about it !! I bet they appreciate your Craft Now lol , wait till the Math gets involved they will be more appreciated of your yarn works !! This was really fun to see !!! Thank You all !!
You sisters are so lucky to have each other. What a wonderful family, My only sibling is a brother with the two annoying traits of being both younger than me and brilliant at everything he touches. What a shit.
I love J's sound effects and calling it a crocheting stick. Caitlin (Caitlyn) not sure on spelling) "twisty twisty twisty, pully pully pully, whats wrong with my wooly wooly wooly" is now my new catch phrase when ever my yarn sucks
Is it just me or was the tutorial for the slip knot for sister 2 wrong? The working yarn should tighten the slip knot not the tail, then when she holds the tail it won't tighten the loop and stop her from being able to form a chain. They both did so well and were great sports. Look forward to seeing a part 2 soon 😂❤
My first "swatches" always ended up curving? Half of my supposedly flat swatches ended up being close to a sphere. Not..... not sure how, but that's what happened.
Has your first sister spent time in the USA? Because I swear every time she said, "This shit is hard!" She definately sounded like she was from the Midwestern USA 😅 her "yuop" was also extremely close to our "ope" Your 3rd sister sounded exactly like me when I started. I was taught by an actual teacher, but after my first ever project was done, she sent me out into the world thinking I was going to do amazing things 😂 I was so frustrated because I could not get the START of the project going. Once it was started I did fine, but that first slip knot or magic circle always drove me crazy 😂
The first sister would have done better watching a different tutorial that was slower. The second sister just needed to stop grabbing the tail to the Slipknot and also watching a tutorial that is slower. When I first started I did a lot of pausing and playing to understand the tutorial.
