Can you feature more rental-friendly makeover options? For example, the contact paper was a great tip, and I’ll be trying it out myself. I’d love to see more tricks to make a ho-hum rental space something beautiful, but landlord (and budget) friendly.

i like the look but i really do think more research in terms of technical stuff need to be done by her. something as simple as putting a painter's tape should not even be in question. i think it's focusing more on the aesthetic than the actual functionality of the space, the open cupboard does make it LOOK more appealing and open up the space, but the FUNCTIONALITY AND MAINTENANCE is going to be horrid, instead, a glass door can be an option. I dunno, this show is almost there, but not quite yet in my opinion.

I hate the open shelving concept... I don't want my dishes totally exposed to dust and summer time bugs, like house flies. Also, I think the biggest improvement that 'could' have been made to that kitchen was (if possible) just reverse the door swing on that fridge! If it opened with the door swinging towards the wall and thus out of the way ,it would be a lot easier to get things to and from the fridge to the counter that's to the left of the fridge.
@anasha1647

Basically a great makeover. The lowered cupboards need lightening by several shades, too dark, but blue is a wonderful choice. Upper cabinets need glass doors to keep things clean, grease free, visible and painted blue-maybe a titch lighter than the bottom doors. Also a rolling cart for a microwave cart and coffee station. Love the cover for the stove and wall color. Great idea for contact paper. Thank you.

I love the open cabinets~ it definitely adds airiness & a little Scandi aesthetic, plus, for any foodie, it's so nice to have needed ingredients within reach.❤️ Painting the lower cabinets added a nice pop of colour as well as contrast. The stovetop cover is brilliant & such a great addition to a small kitchen (I'd love one!). And the addition of contact paper made a nice background in the cabinets & overhauled the countertop! @@grottoserpentina9342 And wont it leave residue when it's peeled off? So with the wood cabinets, you'll have to sand and revarnish them after you take the contact paper off. So you might've as well painted them in the first place.

pantieslegrandma You shouldn't be putting hot pots on a normal countertop either. That can burn and ruin the counter.
@jordanschafer6988
@jordanschafer6988 5 лет назад
Grotto Serpentina You also shouldn't be directly cutting on the paper. You shouldn't even directly cut on normal countertops. Knives can ruin countertops, and depending on what you are cutting there could be cross contamination. You should always use a cutting board.

It is a really easy fix to change the opening direction of the fridge so that it opens into the kitchen. Right now he has to walk around to the wall to open the fridge. Most refrigerators are designed for you to be able to change the direction you want your doors to swing.

That contact cover for the counter top space is genius. I wish i'd thought of it when i moved into my current apartment and will definitely be doing it if i move into another place without stone counter tops!

Oops, the stove cover was in a van project, too, on RU-vid. They lined with metal or tin, in case the stove was left on, or something, to avoid a fire...not a good idea to just use wood in the inside..... please fix..

For the lids of the pans, I found that 3m command hooks fixed to the inside doors of my cupboards , shaped like the lid , I could simply fit the lids there and still close the door .

Definitely looks better than before. However... Open shelving is a pain to maintain, because of all the dust and grease that accumulates, especially over the stove. And also, that counter looks really cheap and doesn't look like it will last... She could have at least removed the sink before placing the contact paper, instead of just glueing around it, you can tell the round corners are a mess.

around the sink unit , i think sealant should be used to seal the contact paper edges otherwise water will get under the paper and lift it.

So basically you bought food (pasta & granola) to put in the containers you bought instead of putting in what he owns, where's the logic in that and why didn't you add a small butcher block trolley?
