Black & White 2 are such underrated Pokémon games. Last year, replayed the entire main-line series of Pokémon games (no remakes) in anticipation for Scarlet and Violet. I set each one up as a randomized nuzlocke. That marathon was the first time I'd played the Gen V sequels since they released in 2011, and I had so much fun playing them. Oh, also, it's one of the only times an antagonist in a Pokémon game has attempted to kill the main character. The other is the most recent games. So it gets points for that.

I've noticed several poketubers doing this. (Including Jack and Mikey) John. Assurance does NOT function like Payback, Avalanche, or Revenge. It doubles in power if the TARGET has already taken damage that turn, NOT the user. Imagine you choke on your water cause it goes down the wrong pipe or something, and you start coughing really bad. And your buddy starts smacking you on your back to "help out". THAT'S Assurance. Mostly useful on slow 'mons in double battles.

People always forget that Assurance doesn’t double the damage of the *user* has taken damage, it’s if the *target* already took damage in the same turn.

I do think these challenges would be more tactically interesting if the regular pokemon couldn't randomize into legendaries, and the gym leaders all had to have fully evolved pokemon.

I feel like the one-time use Everstone is a little restrictive, right? Here is what my personal suggestion would be: You can take the everstone off, but afterwards you can’t give it to the same Pokémon (even after it evolves), you need to lead with it when it is holding it, and the everstone is taken off of it automatically when the Pokémon holding it faints. Much more complicated, but it has some restrictions to make the challenge fun while being less restrictive overall.
