I Made Them With Gel 😲 DIY Soft Gel Tips - It Kinda Worked 

I let it sit upside down for 30 seconds before curing and let gravity pull it down so that it’s thicker in the middle. Then attach it to nails with poly gel. Another way to DIY tips fast is sandwiching a long strip of gel in between 2 plastic nail tips of same size (not gel nail tips). And squish them.

I am in nail tech school now and am currently preparing 3 hands to work on next week. This has given me so many ideas for when I’m done with school! And for today! I’ve drilled all three hands down and struggled with the first hand to just get a nail plate down because I’ve really destroyed these hands 😂 but you saved my day!!!!

I thought about doing this to make artificial nails, but haven't tried it because I didn't think using gel as the "glue" would cure. I'm definitely going to try this now. I'd like to know how well this mani lasted. Thank you for trying this.

I also like using free edge tip dual forms to extend the nail first, then apply gel on top so that I’m “building on top of something”.

I've done this quite a few times if a nails fallen off, I have a wide nail bed on my thumb which I sometimes don't have the right size of gel tips I'm using. Beautifully done as always. ❤️ Blessings from Scotland. 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✌️

I have so much trouble doing extensions for myself using any method! Glue on tips, full cover tips, dual forms, all of it. I usually end up doing a very poor extension with sticker forms. I am absolutely going to try this experiment!

I am thinking this method would also be ideal to pre-prepare designs, if a client is short in time and you know what size forms to use for them (yes?). Maybe the amount of designs would be limited so they can cure but could they be attached with acrylic instead of gel in between?

I think its a great idea for beginners! The nail tips could be made ahead of time too so the actual application process wouldn't take so long.

I will have to try this method. I think it will improve my nails done with the non dominant hand and be more even than just pressing on a filled dual form to my nails. l am new to this style of nails and started with soft polygel after not having nails done for 20+ yrs.😂

Thank you for that video! I have wide thumbs and regular tips don't fit, but I found quite big dual forms on AliExpress and was wondering if I could make diy tips 😅 I already tried to use those dual forms in the way they are supposed to be used, but I wasn't satisfied with the result 🙈

Which builder gel is your favorite?

I’ve heard you can’t fully cure gel under a surface that’s not see through. Does it not need to be clear to have the light reach all of the gel?

Anastasia, how long did the nails last? Were they attached and cured right through? So curious...

I wonder if you could do this with Polygel and use glue to adhere it (given that many pokys are too thick to adhere with gel). Be nice to make a few custom tips and then just slap them on when I need to vs having to find my tops, my lamp, mmy gel, etc. For example yesterday it took AHES (Two hrs) to find everything and get them in where as I could have a few premade and just glued them on.

But if you use a darker color, won't the UV not make it through the softgel to cure the builder gel underneath?

They don’t make a size that fits my thumb either in plastic or soft gel. I haven’t found duel forms that fit either. I’m a normal size person at 5’5” 165lbs. It is beyond disappointing that they make all these small sizes but nothing big enough for me especially since you can file them down to fit. No pop off method or gel x duped or even making my own. Can you recommend a duel form that may be big enough? And one that isn’t curved longways like a rainbow! I don’t mind c curve just not the hook shape

I'm cringing when I use an electric nail file. I don't know if it's because I use a cheap one but the vibrations really get to me. Any thoughts about it?

But.. if u used hard gel.. it won't soak off, and isn't actually a soft gel tip. Just a thought maybe a soft gel builder gel in a bottle would work better.

I wonder if this client has thyroid issues. A lot of times people who do don't create much cuticle at all. My mom has advanced hashimotos, and she creates almost no cuticle.
