Watch your videos everyday, great tips! Used to have lead tape on my old driver to give extra weight. Inherited a cobra F9 couple months ago, loving it 😁
43 inches used to be the standard length of driver in 1980's Same as a 3 wood now. Lot of people would get the same distance out of a 43 inch driver because they could swing harder at the ball and still get it on the centre of the face.
Pick me! The best tips around, the tips may not be new to the golfing world but how you explain it and demonstrate the drills makes all the difference in the world! Keep up the great content!
Alex (pick me), I just recently found your channel. After taking about 10 years off from golf I am now trying to recapture my game and I find that your videos and just what I need. Keep it up and we will all keep watching. Thanks.
Well done on showing the channel members all of these different methods of promoting your brand of teaching golf the Alex Elliott way . great stuff looking forward to seeing. More of your own style thanks for your time 👍
Thank you for the advise. will be trying this!! I have a Titleist D3 I bought when they came out and Have been doing great! the problem I got older and my turn is not what it used to be. All of a sudden I can't hit my Old friend D3. I have tried everything. moving my right foot back a bit and lifting my left heel to accommodate a better turn, to really turning my right hand for to the left, rolling over the club from a center grip. Well this is my last thing to do I will let you know how it went going to the driving range tomorrow Oct 19 will post results wish me luck
Well done Alex, a great explanation of what could be done to help all who slice, a few options worth exploring in order to get that drive more consistently on the fairway. Happy to give up some distance if the the driver shot dispersions becomes narrower. Off the fairway is a score killer.
Yes I ll be in it. I have in the past tried your idea. It did work and my driving with the changed heads worked quite well. I was actually using it as a fairway wood which me some extra mts.
Alex, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate and enjoy watching your videos. I’m a senior golfer who has tried the lead tape and it doesn’t work for me, so the driver stays in the garage. I can consistently hit my 5 wood 200 yards in the short grass. My question to you, do I keep trying to hit driver or keep the 5 wood? Pick me!
Alex, just love your tutorials and explanations on how to hit a better golf ball. After twenty years playing on and off actually went to get a custom fit and now can't wait to get my new clubs. Can you do a piece on wedges as this is my new purchase consideration.
Forgot to say I'm still playing every week and enjoying it and your tips do help still hitting driver up to 200 yds on Good days at 85 yrs old thanks Alex
I put my 3 wood shaft into one of my former drivers I didn't notice as much difference as I did when I went down the grip....Biggest improvement was fitting a jumbo grip....
Hi Alex, another awesome tip, with a bit of science to back it up. I’m now going to experiment with some tape on my driver. To be honest, I’ve always been a bit sceptical about modifying what the manufacturers provide you with. However, this does make sense and is at least worth trying at a range. 👍😎🇦🇺
“Pick Me” love your channel. Definitely going to try the fairway shaft in my driver…when the snow melts! Watch your videos daily, really good instruction and clear to understand.
"Pick Me!".🤗 Hi Alex. I love the way you like to experiment with different things about equipments and i too love to try different things to help improved my game. Now i feel pretty good about my game since i found that big grips worked for me. Just have to put in the practice times to shoot consistent scores. Thank you for sharing your wonderful lessons on here! Merry Christmas!!
Hi Alex, this isn’t related to this video however would you be able to do one about the science behind all the different wedges (or if you have already please send me the link). As this question is something I hear lots of people I play with constantly argue about. “What influence does the variations to how the face is made and the influence of the bounce numbers”. I am also looking at buying two new wedges and would personally (as I’m sure others will) on your advice for what each do and what type of face/bounce considerations would help the various level of handicap golfers. This is by a very long way my favourite channel so please keep up the great work you do. 👍😎🇦🇺
Pick me because I watch your videos everyday and really enjoy them. This was a good example of having others test concepts for you before investing in additional equipment...thanx
PICKME! Thanks for the constant tips Alex. You’ve helped me improve my ball striking drastically recently! I also have all kinds of drills thanks to your help. Cheers
Thanks for the tips, Alex. I took all these tricks and tips to the course with a little more success. Do you recommend changing the ball placement and/or tee height with the shorter shaft?
Thanks Alex, it’s something to think about. I do have a “fade” 🤣 ok slice and was thinking about a driver change with adjustable weights to help me but, I know I have to change my swing path to do it right. I’d love it if you picked me. Regardless, thanks. I enjoy your videos
I don't know about the UK market but Graphite Shafts are ridiculously expensive in the States. Therefore, I would suggest that Slicers choke down on their Driver's and experiment with adding inexpensive Lead Tape to the heel of the club as you suggested. If you can't find Lead Tape in a golf store you will find it wherever they sell tennis racquets in your area. Some manufacturers don't mark the degrees of their heads higher than 10.5 degrees. They mark it High Loft (HL) instead. By the way, Dustin Johnson used a 10.5 Degree Driver when he first came out on tour and Freddie "Boom Boom" Couples used a High Lofted (10.5 + degrees) Driver Head designed for a Woman for years when he was the Longest Driver on the PGA Tour! Higher Lofted Driver's are simply easier to Hit Straight. This was a Fantastic Topic! Thanks from Houston, Texas ✌
Alex, just one brief critique,… you should have prefaced your video with something to the affect of: “adjustments to the hosil, weighting and adding lead tape does not replace the results of a professional fitting”. In my (humble) opinion, any golfer shelling out $300 to $600 for a premium driver (or fairway wood) is simply wasting their money if they don’t get that club fitted by a professional. A professional fitting will determine loft, weighting, shaft length/flex and toe/heel weighting adjustments to the player. The fitting may also determine if it’s really a lesson that is needed to correct a slice.
Pick me . Adjusting the hosel to a higher loft setting also closes the club face. Higher loft gives more back spin ,which counter acts side spin. You might need 20 grams of lead tape to notice a change
Pick me! Would be my first club since a kid, driving at the range with my father...would help me get started again, I miss it. Thank you for the opportunity and I'm glad I found you... so much info in your videos.
Sir! I've been following you for a couple months! I really enjoyed watching your videos! By your tips I've went from a 20 plus handicap to about 10 in past couple of months! I've been playing with a $89 dollar driver! I'm now averaging about 280 to 300 yards! I'm 64 years old! Thanks for your tips! Your fan from north Alabama in USA ghenley35
Pick Me.....was standard practice to stick lead all over the back of clubs in the past. I tried it once on my current Driver. After about 4 hits the lead flew off. The modern surface does not take "stickyness" so well.
My local course has 90% of its hazards on the right side, so I'm looking to make a draw machine club. Something that's near impossible to fade or slice. Not sure if it's gonna be a second driver or a 5 wood yet. Ideally it would be a wood, but I gather it'll be easier with the driver because of the size of the head.
Pick me. Some good tips, I’m going to see if I can swap my Cobra F8 driver shaft with my Cobra Fly Z fairway, hopefully they are compatible. Merry Christmas to you Alex.
Pick me . Great video Alex. Some great advice. I use a offset codra f max Driver to help with my fade .before that I was using a 12 degree offset cobra Driver with a 3 wood shaft in it . It really does work.
Great video. Pick me! I have a very slight push fade only 10-15 yds. Tape won’t help with this problem will it Alex? Its more a swing path issue I presume.
Pick Me. Some great tips Alex, especially with loft and shaft length. Though you would need a matching branded driver and 3 wood. Thankfully i do have an f9 3 wood 😉
You could add a lbs of weight near the hosel and it still can't stop a slice. It the swing path that causes the slice. No amount of weight will fix a face that meets the ball from out to in.
Pick Me ! I am a senior. Restarting golf after decades away. I need a straight, long Driver! The new cobra driver would look good next to my Cobra 3 wood! The Cobra driver goes straight!
Pick me! The last Cobra I’ve used was way back when Greg Norman was using them. It would be fantastic to play the latest Cobra and hopefully find more fairways. When the winner is chosen, will we also get to chose the proper shaft? Love your content by the way and keep up the great work!
Pick me, my driver is a Adams Speedline 12 now 11 year's old, non ajustable, fantastic Driver in it's day and the only way i could shorten it is to cut the shaft, but i think a new driver with a shorter shaft would help me enormously now in my mid 60s, generally hit most fairways, but losing distance as age creeps up
Pick Me Great video and I agree driver shafts are too long. I've been gaming the Titleist 915 D3 for around 7 years and it has a overall length of 45" which is 1/2" to 3/4" shorter than the current drivers. I would most definitely like to upgrade my old driver to a newer model with a 44"-44.5" shaft.
Alex i have a L/H TM 2016 M1 driver i have set the weight to draw but still need to add further weight to the heel, the bottom isn't a flat surface, so can i add my weight to the top of the club head and have a positive effect?
Loved the content. Appreciate the affordable ideas that you provide. You do not get this from other pros. Play with a F7 Cobra driver which was shortened when I bought it second hand for 100 €. Pick Me.
PICKME!! I'd love to win this as heard such good things about cobra drivers and I'm still using a ping one from early 90s. Fingers crossed. Keep vids coming
