You played with a spring door stopper as a kid. Now I want to play one as an instrument. Can I make a keyboard out of coiled doorstops? An Outrageous DIY boingy keyboard. The spring door stopper sound is incredible. So what is that like when I turn it into notes and a melody? Spring door stop music!

I knew if I looked down here I’d see a comment about it. Back in high school my room was the same colors and ikea furniture that resembled the finish that’s on the baby grand. It was awesome and this video just reminded me of how awesome that bedroom was.

A couple of ideas 1 the base board getting narrower 2 the thickness of the board getting thinner 3 some sort of base box incorporating either or both the above. Love your wood working tools - use what you got to get the job done.

That is one of my favorite sounds. When In my masters program I crated a musical instrument from them with varying sized PVC and Cardboard tubes with thick rubber stretched over the ends. The door stops were attached to the rubber. That is still my favorite - I wish I still had that amazing thing.

What if... You put the springs on different lengths of PVC pipe, so you're tuning the pipe length rather than the springs? Or... a single spring, and a single pipe, but with finger holes to change pitch, like a recorder or clarinet? I love your videos, your humor, energy and craziness.

I LOVED this video from beginning to near the very end. Fantastic idea and made me giggle throughout. However, you sprung my mind a bit when you didn't do your signature snap slap thingie at the end.
