facts about knäckebröd from a swede!! 1. Its prononced as ”kuh-neck-eh -bu-ruhd” 2. Everyone in Sweden is fighting about wether you put butter on the flat side or the uneven side 3. there are different types of knäckebröd (some light, some dark, some with grains on top) 4. It’s very common to it eat for breakfast and most schools have it for students in the lunchroom (usually just with butter) 5. the most common toppings are usually savory (I have never tasted it with anything sweet) butter and cheese, eggs and swedish caviar, cheese and cucumber are popular 6. The ones bought in stores are usually rectangular or large circles (vinyl sized) with a big hole in the middle this is just some random information if anyone is interested. Storytime: My husband's mother is Swedish and he often talks about visiting his grandparents in Sweden and the huge wood fired stone oven they had in their basement. Once a week, all the ladies in the village would come over and use the oven to bake their hardtack for the week. My husband always talks about how good it is and how disappointed he is that he can't eat it anymore because of his wheat allergy and gluten intolerance. So, as I was watching this video I thought to myself "hey, this knackerbrod sounds a lot like hardtack". I looked it up and it's the same thing, so we're off to hunt for ingredients because you shared a version of this childhood favorite of his that is actually gluten free! p.s. I think Pofiber is the same as potato flour, which I've found at bulk food stores in Canada. Just make sure you aren't getting potato starch instead.

No Swedish person ever makes home made Knäckebröd so the fact that you managed to make glutenfree version is just amazing! Deerhorn salt is a remnant name when it was actually made from deer horn, now it is just straight up the same thing you bought :D If you want to use it again, try making Swedish "Dream" cookies

As a dane (we also have "Knækbrød") I think you did really good with all the substitutions you had to make. If you want to try this recipe again, I would recommend making them thinner so they snap(=knæk) more. My mother adds all types of seeds (sunflower, pumpkin and sesame) from the pantry😊
