I wanna mention that his 5U doesn't allow him to die while it's active. I don't think anyone has noticed this or mentioned it before.

I rationalize it as something that’s good to use vs canned frametraps into special moves with >3f gaps. Stuff kind of like Vira 236L or common frametrap buffers. Normals you can just cancel.

I think its funny how vane is canonically a "Heavy Weight" knight but in this game, he's not a Heavy Weight. He even has a intro line with Vaseraga saying "Two heavyweights going head-to-head? Just my cuppa tea!" He's also named like a impenetrable Shield (Narmaya calls him this) and he's only actual shield move breaks in one hit from anything, i like how they still manage to maintain some of the characteristics of him without breaking the game. Vane is such a charismatic character and i think he's gonna be played by many for this reason alone. I love this game and universe so much

First of these I've watched since I may main or sub him. Well, I watched the intro & closing thoughts, then a few matches since it's so long. 🙂 Good info. I watched some high level players since his release. Wow, Master. Haven't tried ranked yet, but got to B in the previous game. Fun vid.

Nobody's talking about how hard Vane's theme goes. Kinda middle of the road on most VSR themes but his theme is straight out of a tales game

9:21 you were actually more or less there, just replace the 623H 5L with 5M, do 5H after the 214H, and end it with the overhead ender of auto combo to get a knockdown, it works on any starter as long as you can combo into 623H, meaning you cant do 2L 2L f.L as the starter, you have to think of something different

Anila buffs seem really good, but i don't think she is busted, but good to see her at least doing decent damage now, i think i will install again to play it, stopped playing because i was busy doing stuff on Relink and DD2, i will have to practice all over again, i remember i was stuck at the game because i really suck at fighting games but i got a lot better after watching your videos and sajam too, thanks for the videos Diaphone, really love your content.

He is mid. Lack of meterless invis reversal, some surprisingly stubby normals, and having gaps even for his shield stuff dampens on what he is good at like big damage + carry AA conversions

To me the point of his tools starts at his multi stab. Do a poke into it and your next option is based on what your opponent does in response. If they back up or try to fireball you can 214 them with 214M being the hard read on the fireball. If they press or move forward you whiff punish or stuff it. If they just block you can throw out a shield and safely take more space or force an option. All of it leads to really encouraging your opponent to jump which is where all of his power is loaded up, that gross AA damage. Its also important to note that his multi stab on hit, depending on the strength, leaves the opponent at the perfect range for a full range 214. Medium stabs with medium 214

The problem with Vane is his 5U being very bad. His mid screen dmg sucks and his shield is slow and can be wonky sometimes. But for a defensive character he's got bad defense due to no meterless dp and his 5U being pretty useless. You have to find a gap to use 5U then another gap to release the charge for low reward. Too much risk for almost no reward. Those armor moves are generally not great anyway because they only start at frame 3 which i wish they'd change but ok. But Vane's is a lot worse. Would be nice if they made it so your release axe swing couldn't get interrupted and couldn't be spot dodged so it's like Soriz. So it's less risky and you can reliably use it on defense to do same damage back & get your turn back. Or even better, would be great that instead of doing damage back he would crumple the enemy if he armors 3 hits or something.

Hi, I'm cagmera, I just realized you manage to condition me to spam brave counter because I got annoyed of you spamming it lol, and I could of won if I just held in pressure that would of never done anything, I do 214H to Yolo because it's a space trap with a risk but it's risk for a cost obviously, also because vane idk the mu so the fear mentally was there, but it was really fun and I wanted to fight you! You're a strong player but if I were to fight you again diaphone I would have a better plan on any character!

jrpgs are cool but they steal so much time, fighting games you can play a few matches and turn of, I prefer concentrated games like re4 you can finish in 10 hours, but to do everything you can spend about 50 hours loosely, good for people who have and don't have time

Regarding 2B's nerf, you have to consider the whole cast had their 66L nerfed, since she hasn't one, she wasn't affected by this nerf. That's why they nerfed her so hard, imo. They changed the hurtbox on her 5M but it probably wasn't enough to compensate.

I like this character’s design, though I’m always weirded out when a character with a long weapon doesn’t have a really obnoxious button - 214X sort of counts but eh. Also, ff14 mentioned? 🤓 It’s not as grindy as WoW, instead I tell people it’s like Trails in the Sky, each expac is like its own rpg (can be done in 20-30 hours), but there’s a lot if you wanna catch up on the story. Free version is nice, at least.

He just kinda feels bad to play both mid-screen due to stubby normals and up close because all his pressure is pretty mediocre at best. Worst of all, he's boring. They weren't cookin' with Vane at all it seems.
