The tears in his eyes as he speaks... The way he laughs off his misfortunes... Such patience and temperance... The sad aura that surrounds him... Truly a beautiful man.

As a practicing Buddhist myself, this life was completed for me when I attended a speech and blessing by his holiness. He has such a special aura and exudes calmness, intelligence and humour. Long live his holiness. I for one will be praying/meditating for his long life and ultimate reincarnation.

How can you dislike this wise man? All he preaches is peace, love and inner happiness and people are mad with negative comments? He's literally the embodiment of those three things. It's sad how lost people are.

I am not a religious person, but over the years I have heard the lectures of the Dalai Lama and they all had a great influence on me, I learned a lot and some touched my heart. This is a person who is endowed with high spiritual intelligence, wisdom and has a positive attitude despite all the difficulties. The Dalai Lama institution MUST exist it inspires a lot of people, gives hope and a positive attitude to life. Connecting people and countries. Wishing you a long life and strong health. I just wanna say that have any of you watched the movie 7 years in Tibet yea it says Dalai lama wanted to know more about the world and he wanted to explore it all but now most countries don't allow him and its pretty sad because he couldn't explore the world that he used to want to explore but amazingly he is still positive and grateful for what he has he is a great person

He is wrong about America's systemic problems. The fact that corporations and lobbyists are legally permitted to have so much sway over the various branches of government is a major issue. Imagine if you discovered a corporation was 'donating' to a judge in a court case you were involved in. Now recognize that corporations have virtually unlimited ability to 'donate' to the election campaigns of Congressmen and presidential candidates. Who do they serve? They aren't representatives of the People - they are representatives of big corporations.

Just in regard to the China territory issues, allow me share bit of insight as a Chinese who's been living oversees for over ten years. It's cultural/political more than economical, apparently Tibet and Taiwan have sound reasons for independence, i.e. democracy. However, politically mainland China has great interests in these territories, such as resources, and defences. For those who lives in the US, you won't allow Alaska to be sold back to Russia will you? Same principle applies here. Culturally, we have this "collectivism", same as many eastern cultures. Being unified is important. China was in this cycle of being unified and divided for over 2000 years, and it became a culture of unification. Although I believe Chinese education regime in the past 50 years has over-emphasised the national pride and sovereignty independence. But hey, I believe many patriots/right wingers in the US probably hold a stronger view on national pride. Personally, I support human rights, independent thinking and peace, not any bs from whichever government with whatever motives. And I believe that's what Dalai Lama is really saying.
