I love modularity. Also, I've been wanting to build more large scale builds. I've not tackled anything of this magnitude... yet. Rest assured, I will be watching all of this project, with keen interest. This looks super cool, and I'm sure it will turn out as well as all stuff. Way to go, Garman
An ambitious project… My local Lowe’s home store finally got in exactly one 4x8 sheet of the 1” Foamular pink XPS, so I snapped it up to build my own city boards. I had started the project buying the pre-cut 2x2 project panels, which are convenient but significantly more expensive than the big sheets. Unfortunately, once I got the 4x8 sheet paid for and was breaking it down in the parking lot to fit in my car, I noticed those same pre-scored grooves that you encountered! What a pain! I have been able to work around them, mostly making modular “half boards” that are 1x2, but those existing grooves were extremely inconvenient and wound up erasing any of my cost savings in the end…
Good idea with the templates! I´ll build a board in the warcry / aos size. A little difficult for 44x60 in 8 pieces as i want a lot of variety for warcry (22x30)
Lol I feel your pain on these series of videos. I always build with the philosophy of go big, or go home. I’m a month into building 10 ruined buildings for my home game. The bricking process was so tedious. Great job though on the finished boards, this will probably be my next build based on what you’ve built.
I wish you luck on your project. But I’m sure you won’t need it because I’ve seen your work and it always turns out perfect . Can’t wait to see your future game board. Good luck and can’t wait to see the video.👍👍
once i have all the foam and the hot wire I will be recreating sharn city of towers from ebberon, this was a good start to give me a idea how to lay out the project !
Really looking forward to this build! Great idea with the notches at the edges of the foam. I have those on my xps as well and was never sure what to do with them.
