Jess, don't feel like you have to justify Ben's dirt bike. I agree with you - teaching kids how to be safe around all kinds of dangerous things is a big part of parenting. Especially when it comes to doing things they're interested in that are dangerous!

@@aimeegunderson6852 I agree with you, and the bike is small and just the right size. But maybe pushing " fears" rather than morals, could be the case. My friends son, had a path going around the house. Every Saturaday morning he ate his cereal, put on his helmet and road that same path. He hit a tree. The only tree. The hospital staff and news stations were so evil, to the parents. Yes, little Johnny died, on arrival. He was 7 years old. Should this little boy be riding? Yes he should because most of the time it's better to learn that life has risks and that we don't know our fate.

As a mom and a grandma it is so difficult to allow kids to take risks and learn the consequences. That said, if they don't learn these lessons when they are young, when they leave home the risks and the consequences are greater. Can't wait to start seeds...soon, inside. The ground is still frozen here in Montana (not a frost tender flower).

Thank you, Jess, for introducing me to this product and this company. That Ben is getting so big, so important to teach children safety. The extent of damage from frost is partially based on the previous day’s humidity. So if the plant has a little more water, also known as “turbidity”, it will have the propensity to damage it more so, compared to a plant that might be slightly “flaccid“ (less water within its structure). This is not the only factor, but it’s certainly one of the larger and more frequent factors. *I am a plant biologist

I love your parenting style, Jess. You allow your children to explore their individual interests and don't limit them, nor do you force your interests on them. Don't get me wrong, I think chores and experience is good for kids, it's important for them to contribute to the household. But you don't expect them to have your same passions. Ben is such an amazing kid for his age. He loves the farm life, plays ball, and is beginning to learn dirt biking.. SO COOL! Reminds me of my dad's childhood. His parents farmed, he was a star football player at a small Christian school, he also had a dirt bike. I don't want to seem like I'm favoring Ben to the other kids, we just seem to see Ben more in the vlogs. I know all of the kids have their niche and you and Miah celebrate each one. I am similar to you in worrying a bit about safety. I try to remember that my fears can become my child's fears. I don't want him to be afraid to try new things. I have missed out on a lot over the years because I was scared. I was scared to try Karate. My child is currently in Martial Arts. I was scared of the ocean. My child will stay in the water for hours. He is experiencing life with far less worry. I love that. You guys are doing great with your kids. Thank you for being a good example for other parents.

We took our city kids to the country. For the first time in their lives they had acres and acres to run in. In 3 months we had e broken bones and 4 sets of stitches, and the children's hospital emerg room knew me by first name. The kids finally learned their limits and how to play safe. Or they looked up how to treat their ills with dad's industrial first aid kit and manual, and quite telling me about it, lol.

I went outside to open the greenhouse, it's not far from my door, and I come in 5 seconds later to my cat having pulled out like 5 plants and chewing on them. The greenhouse is amazing! It must be so nice to have a hubby who is so supportive and so crafty and talented that he can make all your dreams come to life, literally! I envy you, in a good way, of course! I pray you get lots and lots of enjoyment and produce lots and lots of good food for your family in there. Love the channel😀🥰

"...Fluidity, not rigidity." I really like that phrase! The greenhouse is really coming along and is very lovely. As far as the sourdough starter mishap, things happen, right? Hopefully that baby comes back full force!

That greenhouse is marvelous!!! I remember watching y’all move there last year (?} and am amazed at how far along you’ve come. God is blessing all of you, may everyone of you continue to be a blessing!
