I’ve been fully bedridden since I was 14 (for 6 years) and I’ve been suffering without any outcomes, distracting myself from reality. The way you described your Vipassana experience made me realise my own coping mechanism of disconnecting, instead of observing. Even though my depression is telling me that I’m gonna fail and cause more suffering and that its not worth it, I also feel like this could be just what I need to start mentally healing. I’m gonna go at my own pace though so I don’t over exhaust myself. Even if it’s just small baby steps each day. I’m sure some days are just gonna be two steps backwards, but you might learn something from that too! I’m really happy that you got to experience all of this, and that you shared it with us. I kind of felt that intrinsic connection towards everything that you described. It inspired me, thank you! Much love🦋

hello:) i have a simmilar problem. i have used internet (yt, netflix) as an escape from reality for past 14 years. and i have also went to the vipassana course some years ago. very interesting stuff:) but what you have described about observing and not succumbing to inner conflict, i really like. have you tried meditating? if so, how is it going for you? greetings

This inspired me so much. I didn’t plan on listening to the whole video because it’s late but decided to color a Mandala coloring book while listening and the time flew. I got to the end of the video and realized my entire mandala was full of butterflies. 🦋 During the video I paused several times to decide how to incorporate meditation like this into my life daily and even planned out how to carve out a week for it straight in a few months. So many people, myself included are so numb and restless. This is such a powerful tool to counteract this digital age.

it's rare for me to sit down and watch long videos all the way through (I'm not on RU-vid much) - but this was so warm, and inspiring, and refreshing. Everything you said really hit home. I haven't spent ten days meditating in silence, mind you, but I am in my favourite place in the world right now (a very tiny German village where my family are from) and I have felt so incredibly relaxed and renewed and reminded of who I am, what I am aiming for, and who I want to be. I definitely want to do this retreat someday, it sounds amazing. Thank you so much for making this. ☀️🫶🦋

i now sat down for some hours and thought about it - about what this video made me feel, what you made me feel, what processes where pushed by it, and why i am kinda annoyed by myself( that i needed this video to do change smth)... its weird how someone so far away, so unknown can lead you to do so many emotions and to these decisions. I wanted to do this for ao long and now i am writing into my dairy (havent been writing into it since months) that i want to do it, that i am goimg to book a flight from germany (where i live) to the uk. that i am worthy enogh to allow myself to have these days for myself, that its not selfish and that i will do this *for myself, with myself, by myself*, so i can be better for myself and others (!) afterwards. at first it may seem 'selfish' but in the end look at this woman in this video (Jade, you!) how you can spreed ao much warmth into the world, i wanna be able to do that too

🦋 I am so grateful to you as a person. I actually found your channel during COVID and during COVID I didn’t have a phone so I had no contact with almost anyone except my family, and I was also really not in a good place mentally. During that time I lost that feeling you were talking about from when you are a kid and had such a love for life. But watching your videos I was always so invigorated and hopeful, and I felt connected in a way to you because you were who I had been wishing I could be (I just loved your mindset and at a time in my life when I was really really sad and hopeless I loved the joy you had for the world and the love that you seemed to give to everything, and how you made everyday mundane things feel special). Anyway I just wanted to let you know that you truly have helped me. I started meditating every day and just enjoying things more even if they are super insignificant which has greatly helped me and I am now a much happier person, so thank you for inspiration and for sharing bits of your life and advice to the world because it has a truly wonderful impact. I luv you💙

Wow! That sounds so interesting, and you have me hooked! I have so many questions! 1. What if you are allergic to a given fruit/ food? 2. Do you have to sit in the 'yoga' position the whole time? Can you prop yourself by the wall? Can you lie down? I think that alone would be really hard for me! 3. Do you talk to the teacher during the afternoon individual session? 4. Is there a contraindication to this retreat? (e.g. depression?) 5. Did anyone cheat with the non-speaking part? What would happen? 6. Can you cry? I did a 24h silence at a camp once. Actually twice. I spoiled it the first time by saying 'Sorry' to my friend for accidentally touching her (on a knee) when standing up from a bench. I always wanted to do something like this or that retreat where you stay in a complete dark for a week. Well, that's all, thank you if you even just read my comment. 🦋 (can't do blue butterfly)

I'm one month away from doing my first 10 days vipassana. From what I have researched: 1. you can tell them what you're allergic too 2. you have to be sitting, you can choose different positions or use a chair or a cushion and yeah its hard for everyone 3. you can talk to the teacher, I dont know how often though 4. yes, deep trauma can arise and be very hard, some people can't complete the ten days, personally I would recommend therapy for ur depression and when u feel better go do this 6. you can cry as long as u dont bother other people.

It's amazing to see the impact that these 10 days had on you Jade. ✨️ I'm really impressed by your resilience and how you were able to push yourself and concentrate to meditate ! It's funny because I lived an unforgettable and moving experience this summer as well : I went to World Youth Days in Lisbon, and as a Christian, this really helped me grow in my Faith and become SO grateful for our beautiful world and all the young people who help move it everyday ! So it really resonated with me when you talked about being grateful for being alive, and I thank God everyday for the life He gave me and for its wonders which always leave me speechless (and you have a way of talking about how special life and our earth are, that I admire greatly !) ❤ I wish you all the best for your new life after graduation ! 😊

Your story is so inspiring! 🦋 I've been meaning to get back into a habit of meditation after a session with negative emotions scared me from it, but you've inspired me to keep trying! Thank you for this, and thank you for the collaboration with headspace, signed-up and ready to get going!

🦋🦋 i'm currently 15, and i've decided that i'm going to do this one day. when i feel ready of course, but i will. im going to start meditating. i have adhd, which will probably be an obstacle, but now i understand that mediation isn't something easy, not for everyone. it is a process. it is a lesson in a lot of ways!! i actually can't believe i sat through this whole thing and really listened. you have really inspired me, in like so many ways. just by this one video. i teared up, i felt what you felt, and it was really interesting. thank you. i can't get everything out, because i can't form it into words, but just know i am grateful. 💞💞✨

🦋 Thankyou for sharing! The part where you said something like "you can know all these things in the moment, you can know your problems and patterns... but it's another thing to feel the solution" really, really felt nice to hear someone describe. The idea of not talking for ten days is so cool... I didn't know there was a place where it was possible to do that and not be weird for it. I hope I get to do something like this in the future. Sending good vibes to everyone in the comment section. 🦋

🦋 when I started the video I was like- even though this sounds amazing I can’t be without those intrinsically human things. Writing, speaking.. they’re all a big part of the human experience and I didn’t think I could go even two days without doing at least one of those things. But now I’ve watched the whole video and know what effect it had on you, I get it. Through your passionate speaking I could feel the effect and experience that the meditation made for you and even through just watching this video I went into a very similar meditative state, not as strong as yours of course, but my brain started automatically searching for sensations and my whole body… relaxed. It was magical, I teared up at your description of the dew rain at the end of the video, and even just watching this will be a core memory or lesson for me I think. I need to stop being so dependent on pushing feelings and the things I want to away in favour for pickling my brain in front of a screen. This was a strong lesson for you, but also for me too. Thank you for sharing :)

🦋 I just watched it and couldn't have chosen a better moment to do so... Very inspiring! Thank you so much, Jade! II normally never comment on videos, but felt like I really wanted to this time! don't think you'll ever fully realise your positive impact on other people, but that's okay :) I'm just grateful for you and your videos and your reflections and vulnerability. Sending the biggest hugs to you!! Lieke

🦋This is so wonderful. I wish that everyone had the ability to do something like this, I cried a few times while listening to your story especially at the end. I can tell that your true vulnerability and commitment to every part of the process really changed probably your whole conception of life in the end. I really hope that I can make time for a retreat like this at some point in my life.

🦋 I’m so grateful for your channel. I feel you are definitely achieving your goal of being helpful. You have given guidance and structure to so many people, myself included. Ive been meditating for a couple of years on and off now and the practice of mindfulness has helped me drastically. I would love to try something like this one day. Also, I absolutely cried when you talked about Alisha (Alicia?) partially because that’s my name and I felt like you were talking about a younger me. I was EXTREMELY shy, quiet and sad at that age. I wonder if I would have built up my confidence faster if I had an opportunity like this at that age. Anyway I wish you the best and I’m glad this experience was rewarding for you 🦋

I watched this video over the course of 4 hours, through a run and a chill yoga session because I could not. Stop. Watching. I’m incredibly happy it was a positive experience for you. I’ve been surrounded by vipassana goers almost my whole life but have never yet felt the calling to go myself. But I look forward to it, whenever the time comes. To equanimity 🙏🏽🕉

I think we can so often feel like we have to run to the next thing and the next thing. Sounds like a challenging but insightful experience. With my health problems I’m not sure I could make it through ten days. My brother got MND so he eventually lost his ability to move or speak. In a way he was forced into what you did. I think he was brave in how he dealt with his decline and death. One should never take their movement or abilities for granted. It sounds like this technique helps you become more grateful. I am planning to do basic médiation and i think that will help me. I also need to ditch my mobile phone more. I didn’t grow up with them so I need to find that peace again. 🦋

Secondly, I feel you have ventured into some something many of us are terrified of so thankyou for such an open and honest sharing of your experience. Hi Jade! 🦋 This video was so inspiring to watch and made me feel very emotional. Thank you! That sounds so hard but like such a strong experience. I feel like in parts I can relate because I have been meditating and even been to (meditation) retreats, but never that long and never in total silence or with that many hours of rigorous meditation. You can be very proud of yourself for sticking to it till the end! Maybe I'll be brave enough to do something like that myself one day.

🦋 I had a similar situation after graduation and like you thought Vipassana would be the answer. Unfortunately it didn't work out for me, even though I live in the city with one of the best Vipassana centers in the world(Leh, Ladakh)! First time got rejected and the second time some family shit came up like 2 days before the start. Planning to finally do it in between my Masters program. But listening about your experience in Vipassana has rekindled my resolve for doing it and revalidated my conviction about doing it. Thank you
