Hi CC, YES!!! In addition to the music & the grooves, the voice that you hear giving you those Marvin Gaye vibes is none other than Hamish Stuart!!! He was one of the original members of AWB, but after touring & recording for so many years with AWB, he left to go work & tour with Paul McCartney of The Beatles, but he is now (in his elder years) grooving with a band of his own...Shout out to you for this awesome reaction too!!! Receive a "virtual hug" & a "high-five" for this one!!! Sincerely, CR SoundDoctor
By the way you described your Dad's reaction when you asked him if he was familiar with AWB? It is evident that your Dad knows some good music!!! "Shout out to your Dad also!!! And it just tickles me inside to know that AWB has more jams for you to react to...Keep up the good work CC!!!
This is AWB's "Tribute" to Music as they use it as an "analogy" comparing it to an absolutely romantic relationship with a woman!!! How about that latin percussion (congas/bongos) thumpin' throughout this track??? That was spicy...Mic Drop!!!
Graduating High school in 1975 it was an amazing time for music growing up in Northern California you could see these great bands playing somewhere close any weekend San Fran, San Jose Winterland Golden Gate park so many places
Beautiful reaction. Love the connection between generations. Music can be a powerful means of connecting with others. David Sanborn is my favorite sax player. He has a live album called Straight to the Heart. incredible. On the album is his version of Al Green's Love and Happiness featuring Hamish Stuart on vocals. I think you will love this song and you will love David Sanborn. Also check out his live version of Run For Cover with his frequent collaborator, Marcus Miller from the same album.
@@ChestCrystal Sanborn has played with everybody over the years, but his solo work is impeccable. He is one of the finest studio musicians and his albums have the finest musicians playing with him. Check out the albums, Hideaway and Voyeur to get a taste of his early work. His work with Marcus Miller on Run for Cover is classic.
Another great pick my girl ....love this album ...love this band since the early 70's keep up this great rhing you do to enlighten rhe masses to rhe best era ever for great artists and killer music by yhank you ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💯👍💯👍💯👍💯👍☮️☮️☮️☮️
I loved it when one of my own sons "introduced me" to this song (which was already sitting in my record cabinet, where it had been since my youth). As parents we cannot help ourselves not try to introduce our children to popular culture (bands, songs, movies, TV shows, comedy, dance, books or other art) and even places which pleased and inspired us, when we were kids. But there's something magical when, as our children grow into teenagers and adults, they come to us and say "Dad/Mum, have you ever heard of....." and they go onto enthuse about a band or song or whatever that they've "discovered" which was one of your own favourites, once upon a time. Recently happened to me, when my daughter and her friend "introduced me" to Elton John's "Are You Ready for Love" so I directed them both to my old vinyl record collection where they found thirty or so Elton albums and many more singles along with the original 12" "Thom Bell Sessions EP" which features that performance. To say "they were blown away" would be an understatement especially when I pointed out "Tiny Dancer" was also there on the "Madman Across the Water" album (it was never released as a single, here in the UK). You should consider reviewing "Are You Ready for Love" by EJ. I think you would enjoy it.
Their Best album! This is when they expanded beyond funk to latin, jazz, this album has it all, every song cooks! This song gives me a high, tingles down my neck, esp Molly Duncan's sax solo, the sound of carnival!
