Your perseverance is so admirable. And you have a great studio space. I like that you went with the woods natural color. It’s beautiful.

Gotta love when unexpecting things happen and it ends up taking up more of your time than you were anticipating.

As a fellow artist I love your artwork, but I have to say..... your mindset and spirit are life.

Hi Melissa, it isn't dirt, it's oxidation from the metal in the nails :-/ Water based cleaners will do that. I've refinished a few floors in my day, and this happens if you get freshly sanded floors WET. You might need to do a light resanding to get it back to good. After the floor is sanded, the wood is vulnerable. Instead, wipe the floor with a barely damp cloth to remove the dust, then immediately put the seal coat on it, 3-4 coats. Oil is best, but many swear by the water based polyurethane. Good luck and we live and we learn. Blessings to you!

@@Mfalconer that's how I felt trying to buy a printer for my artwork, then I saw your video and bought a fantastic printer, so thank you! It's impossible to know everything!

Way to hang in there and work it out. Floor looks great. I have learned through many diy home improvement project to multiply all estimates (time, money, supplies) by 4 to be prepared for the unexpected.

Thanks! That's a good rule of thumb!

Melissa, if you resand them lightly one more time, then use a handled applicator with a pad, put the "varnish" into a lined paint tray, and you will not break your back. That should get rid of your spot problem. Good luck

Could have used a slight stain...to hide present and future spots. The stain would have been a lovely contrast with the white walls. Live and learn:) Live and learn:)

Hey, Melissa! Too bad about all the mistakes on the floors, but like everybody else said, live and learn. Now you know for the next time you do floors, many years down the road. My suggestion would be to check the manufacturers' sites for the wood floors, cleaner and varnish for product FAQs, check for any product how to videos, and use chat w customer svc reps for your questions. And above all, when you leaned over and started painting on that stain, my first thought was Girl, save those braids! Tie them back before you get stain on your precious hair. But you're done now, your braids are fine and your floors are beautiful. Way to go on perseverance! Blessed be.

Clean a bunch of spots all over the floor and then claim it was an expensive exotic wood with a spotted wood grain. Honestly though, end result looks great!

If you do this again don't use vinegar as that will react with the steel nails and tanin in oak and turns everything black.

that's dedication, lmao if it was me that floor would have been getting varnished right on top of those little dirty spots 😂😂
