James said that everyone in the recording was crying. Only his father was calm, saying why is everyone crying? I'm still here. Most reactors cry at this, nothing to be ashamed of.

I've watched 20+ reactions to this song, mainly males and almost all of them are unashamedly a blubbering mess by the end of it. I still tear up every time. How can you not get emotional. James's facial expressions and voice cracking just shows how real the song is. Impossible to not be effected.

Yes, that is his dad, Charles Blount (real spelling) He had Stage 4 Kidney Disease. Shortly after this video was released he finally received a donor kidney and is doing better. The producer wanted to edit out the imperfections in his voice using auto tune but James Blunt refused. James Blunt decided to donate all of the profit made from the song to Help for Heroes and British Legion charities.

The exact same situation with me and my dad who passed away 20 years ago at the age of 93. When I watched this video for the first time and then Mike & The Mechanics 'Living Years' the effect of both songs together just about did me in. Jesus!

I have no idea how James managed to do this. He refused to use any 'Auto-Tune'. Just as a side note, James and his father were both officers in the British military and (apparently) had never shared emotions like this. I can understand James' voice going a bit shaky towards the end, but I think we can forgive him for that under the circumstances.
