Most definitely!! He's so timeless, so classic almost like Tim McGraw and Garth as well. But I agree, pick a song any, by Alan Jackson and it's going to be good! ;)
I agree. Also, there are singers that I like the songs of but very very few do I think are good enough people that I would let them babysit my kids and Alan Jackson is one of the very few people I would let watch my kids for me. He’s jus a good and decent guy.
That depends on the kind of country. Very specifically for me it's old timey stuff and 90s mostly because I grew up hearing it a lot. Some specific songs I really enjoy now.
@@AtomicMama42 I bet if you tried you could get on board with some of the newer guys, you really dont like Luke Combs? But I agree with you for the most part...
@@roadtoserfdom3020 I wasn't a fan of Luke combs for the longest time. Then I went into a really depressive state and was listening to him constantly, he's helped me through a ton.
Alan Jackson has countless hits. His gospel is great too. I had a Dad who was a narcissist & I spent my whole childhood trying to make this man proud & I was never quite good enough. I got daily whippings with a belt. He remarried a rich woman & hasn't had anything to do with me since 1998. He's missing out on my wonderful daughter and amazing grandson. After decades of therapy & lots of time in prayer, I realized it's his loss. Not ours. So I remember praying Dad would die or just leave. You probably prayed to have a dad. We have our Heavenly Father who will never turn away from us. We have our beautiful children. God bless you. Take care.
I can relate. Trauma therapy for PTSD and all. My father died in April and I have no tears. I'm happy for all of you who had great parents who taught you what love is.My children are my world and I'm grateful to God for them and yes- we have our Heavenly Father and we can climb up into His lap and feel His loving arms around us!
In my case it was my mother. As she told me one time, "I never cared about you, I didn't care if you needed anything or not, I just didn't care." I said, "I know Mama", it made perfect sense. As she said, she only took care of me until my dad got home from work. After my dad died, I took care of her and when she died, there were no tears, there was no feeling at all.
Stories like yours are often used to denigrate our need and desire for a father but actually they help prove just how important a great father is to being a well-balanced and happy person. You had to become your own dad and so were able to heal.
In 1889 me and my dad built a 1971 supper sport nova together. And I still have it I was 20 years old then and I'm 51 now love that car. The memories will never die neither will the car. Great reaction
This song always gets me. I had only a short time with my kids and they were taken a thousand miles away from me and I couldn't afford to fight it and cant afford to go see them. Family is everything.. love everyone.
Write, call, send dollar cards, if possible zoom, try your best to stay in touch. Later if they ask you where were you. You can say you kept trying. My heart goes out to you, take care.
Do what you can bro. I'm sorry you're going through it. Just my opinion id walk coast to coast for my kids. Won't any human being ever keep me from my little babygirl.
I love the way that ALAN JACKSON sings his memories . You share his childhood, his marriage, his children ,his loves and losses. This man is a beautiful, total talent. I love hearing from him anytime. thank you
He sings about real life things we all have had happen in our lives that why they get to people they make you look back at least for me Dad teaching me to drive then teaching my kids how to drive. Now it is my oldest Grandchild that is ready to learn to drive. With Mr. Jackson the older you get the more his song get to you. I learnt to drive with a three on the tree Grandpa's old truck such great memories of my youth and now with grandkids like Alan I hope my kids and grandkids look back at the good times we had and the little things like this.
This song always brings back memories of my Step Father letting drive in the neighborhood on his lap while he shifted gears and pressed the has and breaks. ❤
It's crazy to me that a man who has sold over 60 million records still has people who've never heard of em. Glad you finally found Alan Jackson, just good old country music.
Thank you for exploring different Gendra's! Sweetheart, You are doing everything right! None of us can not change the past. However, we have the Power to Create OUR Future! You Got this! So Proud of you!
6 months later I am watching this again. I do repeats on a lot of your good reactions. I have enjoyed seeing your sentimental side. I think that your children will look back to you with love and great memories
My "boat" was a John Deere 2510 tractor. My "64 Ford" was... ...a 66 Ford F-100 truck. My son's "jeep" was a Chevy S-10. . Yup, my daddy let me drive, too.
I know more of the stuff he did in the 90s, but Alan Jackson is a great singer in general. "Living On Love", "Little Bitty" "Mercury" "Who's Cheatin' Who" are a few good ones. He did one called "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning" about 9/11. There's one called "I Don't Even Know Her Name" that's actually a hilarious song.
I have always listened to country music and my kids grew up hearing it. There was a lot of Alan Jackson played in our home. My son's favourite, at 4 years old was "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere". Lol, I was called in to have a meeting with his kindergarten teacher, because, apparently they were having music time and while the other kids were choosing age-appropriate songs my son insisted on Alan Jackson.
Your awareness is what makes you special. People aren’t born with that. You are changing the cycle of the family tradition just by being a caring Father. Beautiful.
I think that is cool as hell man I know it will make you feel good inside when you’re kids grow up and one day when you are at a party and they bring this up and make you feel so good You are a good dude Van
So glad you’re being the dad you should be! In this broken world we don’t always get what we should, but we can certainly work to be what we should. Everyone deserves to have this feeling! Goodness, my 4 year old grandson’s dad lets him drive the skidder at the sawmill. That smile says he feels like king of the world!
At an age when a parent can go to jail for not having eyes on their child at home in their yard and when kids must be under constant surveillance, this song speaks of a different time. Kids were allowed some responsibility, allowed to make decisions, and prepared for adulthood. I am thankful I grew up when kids were more free.
Just a simple country song about sharing what was given to you by your Dad, your parents, with your own children. What an amazing effect a parent has on their children, with the simplest things in life. And it all starts with showing them trust as try to learn what you have to offer them as they grow. Knowing Daddy or Mommy are willing to trust you as you take on new things builds a child up to become a great adult and eventually a great parent themselves. Nothing can replace this process. It's all about learning responsibility and and learning about trust. Great reaction! Thank You!!!!
My husband let's the grandkids drive our tractor...they luv it....I can't say I know you but it seems you have a huge heart and luv your family...your daughter will always remember what your telling her...
Really GOOD Country songs are the ones that tell a Story! & One anyone can relate to!!! My Daddy taught me to drive down country roads! I know I scared him!!!! GOD REST HIS SOUL!!!! I JUST LOST MY DEAR FATHER LAST YEAR TO COVID AT AGE 73 ....... MY DADDY WAS MY EVERYTHING DADDY'S GIRL! I MISS HIM PICKING GUITAR AND SINGING TO WILLIE MERLE JOHNNY CASH ELVIS DON WILLIAMS GEORGE JONES AND SO MANY OTHERS!!!! HE PASSED THIS PASSED WEEK LAST YEAR ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS OF LOTS OF TEARS RIP DADDY
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of the truck my dad had for all my childhood and then gave to me as my first vehicle. Which I still have btw! This truck means more to me then anything in the world since it came from him.
I lived this life man, I miss those days. I learned how to drive our farm truck.. sat on top of a stack of wards and Jc Penny catalogs. I drove my dad’s boat many times, and once we were in the air my grandfather let me fly his piper Cherokee single engine plane. They were never afraid to teach a young boy to do anything like that, because back then many people did the same thing learning how to drive. I did all of that by age 9. Shot my first shotgun at 8, I killed a beer can in the back field…
You know Alan is one of the best country music singer’s because he sings about real life situations that everyone can relate to and that is why people get emotional when they listen to him because he’s sings about life stories and that’s what makes country music so good A bunch of people think country music is about crying in your beer or about your dog dying But really it’s about life and things that people have been through growing up
Wish every little girl and every little boy had a loving mother and father it's no better feeling besides meeting the love of your life. All you need is love (the Beatles)
in 1980 I dragged a 1959 Chevy Biscayne home. I told my daughter I didn't have to drive it, I just had to save her life. We didn't have much to do to get her running. (My friend's husband called her Christine after the movie). Anyway, the first time we drove it around the block, we sat in the driveway, the radio on 1950's music, the sun was out, and the temperature perfect. Daughter said, all we need is a beer. I went in the house got a couple of beers, and my daughter and I sat there in a perfect moment. One I will remember all my life. She remembers too.
I'm certain you have given your kids a lot of good memories to hold on to. It's often the little things that make the biggest impression. You are a good man, Van.
The movie you are thinking of is "Talladega Nights" Listen to some Clint Black, awesome vocalist and great songs. He did a duet with his wife that is just beautiful. "When I said I do"
Isn't it a beautiful thing though brother? I never had a father figure in the home. Now i get to be the father i never had! Such a beautiful thing. My girlfriend and i just had a little girl. Some day i will get to have this memory with her.
When I was little, my dad would put me on his lap and I would steer his old pick up truck while he had his feet on the peddles down the empty back roads near my grandparents' farm. Sweet memories...
Kids learn to drive very young in the south.... every day after school my mom would turn off the highway and let my brother and I take turns driving down the country road to our house. Never passed another car, that’s how rural it was. I think that started around age 12. My favorite memories though are with my Grandaddy who would let me sit in his lap in the driver’s seat when I was around 6 years old... He pushed the pedals and let me pretend to steer the truck. I really miss him.
Hey! Coach Van!! Stopped by to hear Drive for Daddy Gene ❤ Such a great song!! It’s 2024 (election year) and your channel has exploded! 😊Congratulations!!
I appreciate your honestly when admitting this isn't the type of music you'd play repeatedly, but you did enjoy the story the song told and the emotions it evoked
Hey man I just really gotta say man… I love you Man and I love this video that you made. Can you tell you’re a solid dude and a real genuine guy. Kids would be lucky to have those memories with you. Best of luck my friend!
“If you ain’t first your last? Awww Ricky I was HIGH when I said that! You can always be second or third. Hell 8th ain’t even that bad!” Talladega Nights lol
I love this song. I am fortunate to have my father in my life. He tought me to drive. I too have 3 daughters and I am working on teaching daughter #2 to drive. And I feel just the same way as the song. My Dad not only tought me to drive a car but a Semi as well.
Always have loved this song. Reminds me of my husband and his daddy, his dad had on motorized vehicle since he was five four wheelers, dirt bikes, go carts, etc. my husband even started teaching our daughter to drive when she was eleven years old. She’s 22 now and drives anything like the wind.
