Brian, it has been fun watching you grow throughout the years. I have enjoyed learning from your channel. One of the aspects that made me stay with your channel for so many years is how relatable you are, and you "lead by example." Keep up the hard work brother.
Awesome! It takes so much guts to turn your life upside down like you’ve done several times now - but you’ve got so many great stories and have met so many great folks, I’m sure. One of the biggest life lessons I’ve learned is the importance of margin in life - that’s so spot on. Busyness seems like accomplishment in the moment, but there’s so much value in having margin available to help others or to help yourself.
"You're not livin' unless you're willin' to do some dyin' along the way" Going through some similar changes in my life, but you know what they say, smooth seas don't make good sailors!
My dude, I am in a similar season! I've been in fitness for nearly 17 years. My buddy Gordon S (you played baseball with him) told me I HAD to follow you, and I'm glad I did. Your videos are always fantastic and value-packed. Funny enough, I am also considering going back to school to become a therapist/counselor. At 45 years old the proposition is horrifying, but the urge won't stop nagging me.
I really admire that mindset. I currently even know two ladies, who are both 50 years old and are trying to get into completly new career paths. You really can and should try to change and better yourself at any age, so life stays exciting.
Thank your for this video. It really resonates with me. If you want to grow as a person, you need to make drastic changes. I had to make some hard decisions myself last year for the family. Wanted to go in the intelligence field, but how you said, life happens in seasons and right now I am needed at home, not overseas. I am happy you are not so isolated anymore, because I know society needs good men like you. Stay save and healthy brother!
Good for you for stepping up to help where it’s needed. I am experiencing having to spend a lot more time helping my parents with a lot of things (jobs around the house, getting to and from doctors appointments, etc). They sure help us through the years. It’s the least we can do. Enjoy the newest chapter, brother!
Big fan Brian! Glad to hear about the changes your going through, and especially about your interest in therapy. I think it would be great to hear more about your journey. Therapy has been very important to me in recent years, so it's very nice hearing that you're coming into the field.
One could only dream to have all that. A lot of us would trade lives with you in an instant. But I get it. You gotta stay on the forward path and follow your purpose. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Change is good !!! In all aspects of life ! Smaller and less maintenance for a dwelling space is good too ! For sure! To be able to close the door and be in the world.
Congrats Brian! In the fake world of RU-vid, you are a beacon of light. Ive learned so much from you over the years. Im currently trying to start my own business. It's a scary and frustrating process, but I know Ill get it done.
Awesome! Making big changes later in life is positively terrifying. I've made two major career changes after 40. Speaking for myself, I would have absolutely welcomed help in the adjustment.
Very timely! You never know who needs to hear this message. I wish you the best of luck and I hope the medical condition has gotten better and the overall quality of life has improved too.
Great video Brian, you're right, a change is necessary sometimes. Im changing career due to it becoming stale, 17 years as a chef, going into butchery. Im excited to start something new and learn, learn, learn. Self growth.
Are you still writing programs? I just had shoulder surgery i know you've delt with that and as a fan of your programs I'm looking for something to get me back to growth.
Love to see this. I've been following you here on RU-vid since roughly 2016-2017. Oddly enough I didn't actually start competing in Strongman until last year lol. Initially I followed because at the time I was competing in BJJ and your content really helped my conditioning for BJJ. Regardless, you've absolutely taken a huge part in inspiring me to continue to grow and evolve not just in the gym, or even on the mat but in life as well. Thanks for leading by example, Brian. Us long time supporters appreciate it!
I really don't need the programming at the moment. But can we get some Neversate swag? I'm a lot smaller than I used to be and my old stuff is a bit on the larger size.
already said it, but imma say it again : when i first started watching i was like " man i wish i could move big iron like this dude " and here i am once again like " how did this dude become my goddamn role model "
I hear you on that, I wish I had of met someone and had a kid or two in my to late 20's. Now I'm pushing nearly 40 and I really don't want to be raising kids past middle age. Not the worst thing in the world, but hey, that's life.
Great update, I appreciate the reality behind only a big property, even though it was a little bit heartbreaking for you. I love the mindset of growing and requiring change.🏆🏆
What people don't realize about living in the woods - if they're from a more urban place - is that every now and again stuff just randomly sinks into the ground! People buy and build on land in the woods that is sitting on top of pools of collected water, and if you don't regularly drain it - which can be expensive - then one day you wake up to find your shed has disappeared!
Nice man. Always glad to see your life moving forward and you being healthy. I don't purchase programs, I don't have money to spend and I do my own conjugate programming, but I subscribe and leave comments and like your vidoes. Appreciate you :) (Miss the videos where you and your crew workout together, deadlift parties and stuff). You definitely had and have a lot on your plate, you|re a badass and strong in every sense!
You always have the greatest outlook on things. I think that even though i watch you for strongman and lifting advice in general you're philosophy is probably what I've learned the most from. I'm so glad to see you happy.
Glad to see you and your loved ones are doing well, Brian. In Hindu and Buddhist philosophies, the bigger your desires, the bigger your problems, and the bigger your losses. Listening to your story, I remembered this. I'm glad that you are downsizing, and that way you can focus your time and energy on what really matters: your health, your loved ones, and your mission. God bless, my friend
Hey Brian. It’s good to hear you’re doing well. Your positivity and good outlook is wonderful. I love your channel and appreciate your sincerity and honesty. Will keep following and watching. I wish you the best brother.
I can so relate to this! Our family (wife and daughter) just moved from the suburbs to 25 acres a year ago. It is sooo much work to get the land in order! We go to work and then come home and work a whole lot more lol.. Lots of time, effort and money involved not including house etc! Huge learning curve for us. Thanks for the video! I was shaking my head yes the whole time saying out loud yes, finally someone who knows lol! Love your videos and look forward to following your new adventures!!
Will we ever hear about your CT time? I will go back to university next year to earn my degree in public safety in hope to get my masters in homeland security here in Canada.
Nah man. There are a lot of people who don’t even believe I did it… it seems the more I talk about it, the more the haters come out. But if you were interested in getting into that line of work, just email me and I can give you some tips.
You are a remarkable young man Brian - always focused on self awareness and continuous self improvement. That is by far the most powerful message to everyone who follows you
You're absolutely right. In a similar vein; I got a new job last month. Being comfortable does not lead to growth. Life changes, the world changes, and people need to change.
Always thought it was inspiring how you kept training hard despite your illness and I was so happy when you figured it out. I'd show homies at work your video where u did burpee box jumps and they'd be like "wtf???" You're definitely a dude people could and should look up to, so it's really cool hearing that you're going into being a therapist. I've always admired how honest with your own feelings you are to a public audience. Maybe if young men have stable and healthy older men willing to share their own feelings to look up to they'll stop isolating themselves and internalizing trauma, or even worse resorting to mass shootings or suicide when they can't process their feelings any longer. Things can change if we all just collectively try. Looking forward to new notifications from your channel man.
Preach it, Brian! Im so glad to hear that you are getting the most out of the recent changes. I’m watching this with my newborn, she doesn’t get how great this channel is but she will someday! If you ever make a “suffer beautifully” onesie, count me in!
Great great news brother! At 52, I’ve been through 5 chapters of life myself. Change IS growth when you have a goal. I wish you and your family all the best. Can’t wait for the new content!
I absolutely agree, brother! A goal without a plan is only a dream and dreams rarely come true. Like you said, having a purpose and destination and a plan to get there can make you achieve a lot.
Congratulatons on the move, Brother! My wife & I have been wanting to do so for a long time, too, but haven't gotten around to it yet (31 in the same house). Glad you were able to do so! 👍
It is a big step and don’t take it into you’re ready. But once you do, don’t look back and keep driving forward with a positive mindset! You will get there soon
I've always considered your brand name as the state of never being satisfied, I know you got the name from an old band from school so it's definitely cool
