@@brianalvarez4345 i hear you. Keep in mind that gentrification isn't a new thing for NYC. Blacks are very resilient, and we maintain spaces we want to maintain.
I moved to Japan at 25 and I gotta say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. People here are so fashionable and I’m always pushing myself to be the best me I can be! Also, public transit is some of the best in the world and I don’t think I can ever go back to a country that’s not convenient for people that don’t have cars.
I'm 36 now, almost 37, and more or less lived in NYC about 15 years ago during an LDR. I would NEVER live there now but those times hold a special place in my heart. Now is really the time to go for it -- no matter what, you won't regret it.
Being as young as you, I have the same mentality of not missing out or regretting. So next year I will be working at an embassy in South Korea as I fell in love with the country when I was there as an exchange student. Currently finishing up my master's and hopefully I am able to network in Seoul and stay there for an extended period of time! :)
#pvv I love the longform shopping/interview/vlog videos where you run around to different shops, talk to the staff, show off your favorite pieces. Overall those are such a vibe, I love to throw them on and kick back while unwinding after work. Excited to see your perspective on NYC!
Greetings from Ukraine. Congrats on moving to NY! Interesting to watch your journey. Would be cool to see you decorating and furnishing your apartment or discovering new interesting food spots. Basically, your discoveries from big city life.
Drew! I think I would really dig a "What are you wearing" style video of you with random people you find interesting in NYC, but definitely NOT brand focused. Like general style, lifestyle focused. Asking about what interests people, what do they look for when putting on an outfit, what feelings they try to evoke, some more inspiring and interesting stuff instead of "this is dior uhhh this is vintage this is thrifted this is whatever"
As a foreigner from Europe I would say when I visited New York, although the state of Covid-19 being rather severe at the time, in December 2021 I felt extremely captivated by the vibe and overall sense of culture in the city. Has to have been the best week of my entire year. Sidenote: honestly suprised that when your girlfriend mentioned the smells of NYC she didn't mention the almost constant presence of weed smell or whatever - only unpleasant side to my visit
I agree that the smell of weed isn't as bad as the smell of trash. Although I don't believe that ANY city smells of weed in this day and age, haven't personally ever visited one myself where the stench of weed was as prominent as it was in NYC, and I have been privileged enough to have visited quite a few (mostly European though)
personally i really like the idea of combing your regular commentary AND short breaks for some lifestyle content (in one video). from what ive seen the channels that keep regular videos alongside the vlogs get pretty inconsistent views, so i would either try to combine those two or really commit to just one. #pvv
#pvv You touched on it in the video, but being in NYC opens the door to so many more collaborative projects/videos with other creators. Drew Joiner x Iron Snail or Fashion Elitist would go crazy! PS: It was fun to run into you last weekend at the UES 3rd ave market. I wish my fit was a bit better, but the heat has caused some necessary aesthetic sacrifices. Also, you gotta try L'Industry pizza in Brooklyn if you haven't already.
Yes!! Love this, man. I’ve visited New York a few times and I absolutely understand what you mean by it tugging at you. One day wanna get out there too my dude!
So inspiring to see the growth of your career these past couple of years :,) would definitely love to see some vlog content of both everyday life in new york, and the big events that you're a part of there. everyone's so proud of you drew, love always
This is inspiring and motivating. As someone who loves fashion, has been to NYC twice, and always wanted to move there one day.. you are living proof that that dream is achievable with hard work and dedication :)
I went to NYC last year for the first time and fell in ❤. I’m pushing 50 soon and I wish I moved there in my 20’s like you! Best of luck and enjoy your time there!!!
Hell yeah dude! I’ve lived here 8 years and it’s been amazing. Very tough the first 3-4 years. I was broke but still having a blast here. Now I’m financially comfortable and happy, have a great apartment. There’s so much opportunity here if you put yourself out there and work hard.
I'm born and raised in NYC (Washington Heights) and moved to Denver for 5 years. I lived in Aurora about 7-8 mins from Cherry Creek Mall and I too missed being back home in NYC. Salute to you for the move. It's a great place to live and work.
watching you walk through Carrol park is wild. I Just Left the city and I miss it already. Also I really hope you got the calzone at lucalis as its the best thing there.
I had already told you a couple of months ago while you were New York that I think you'd absolutely love it there. Best of luck, Drew! Hope the city will feel like home in no time.
Definitely want to see your daily vlogs, GRWM, random date or time with Lauren, lifestyle for sure. Fashion for sure and just your growth from being in the city (hood, bad beautiful and ugly) living conditions,
your videos make me so happy, glad i saw you uploaded this! definitely brightened my mood. i love the way you talk about how new york makes you feel, i couldnt have said it better
Bro congrats, I follow you from chile, I have to watch the videos with subtitles because my English is not very good hahaha but I love what you do, a hug.
Hey Drew, I'm from the city and I watch your videos pretty often! I'm 25 years old too and I gotta say it takes a lot of guts to move to a brand new city especially one like this but that's amazing! I left the city for college but moved back last year to be closer to family. I just recently moved out and now I feel kind of like an outsider which is a strange feeling. I felt similar in that I wanted to move to LA but I ultimately decided against it as I didn't like the lack of public transportation (although I can drive and have my license) and I didn't like how spread out it was. Also, I visited LA twice and I lowkey felt like it wasn't all that it was hyped up to be. But kudos to you man, hopefully I see you in passing!
I think it would be cool to see just vlogs of you going to different clothing stores in nyc, especially the smaller and less known brands. And it would also be cool to see you check out some of the clothing pop ups around the city. Keep making great videos!
I’m happy you’ve been able to move to NY tbh anyone who loves fashion should at least visit it’s so inspiring. I hope you have an amazing experience there and can’t wait to see your new content ☺️☺️☺️
#pvv You are beautiful, Drew. Congrats on the moving✨ it would be nice to see more fashion lifestyle blogs, like how the city is molding your style in a way, how are you adjusting to America’s fashion capital! Sending lots of hugs and positive vibes 🫂💞
I would love to see u almost become a tour guide for NY. Best stores of every type, where to eat in fashion areas like Soho. Stuff like that would be amazing. Prob been a year and a half since I’ve found ur first video from u Hopefully I can find u NYC to show my gratitude ❤
Congrats on the big move! I'm coming to NYC for the first time in October (from Canada) would love a video or your recommendations on your favourite spots, stores, restaurants, etc.!
Welcome to the greatest city in the world! This video is inspiring! May God bless you on your journey to chase your dreams. The city has so much to offer, but don't forget to visit the outer boroughs. Queens in the house!
Congrats on moving to NYC! As someone who lives right outside of it, I highly recommend going to Queens if you really wanna get some good Latino food. Taco trucks there are a literal god send
You are adorable! I love how excited you are to be in NYC. I grew up in Brooklyn so I often feel pretty jaded to city life but seeing the city through your eyes is reenergizing me and reminding me how special it is. I love this content. Keep at it! Side note - how long did you have to wait on line to get a table at Lucali's? I recently went back to Juliana's in Brooklyn Heights and was shocked at how good their pizza was. It's more of an Italian style pizza but 🤌really hits the spot.
#PVV you should definitely make lifestyle videos yeah! As you said, life in nyc is pretty interesting so it'd be cool to see what your experiences are from day to day! Love the vids, keep it up man!
I’m 22, just graduated from college, applying for jobs, no clue what I really want to do, know I want to do something creative/fashion related in some capacity, and just generally trying to figure out where and how I fit in. Really inspiring to see your growth and progress over the past few years. Easy to forget sometimes that if you never make that first video you’ll never make your 500th, and you have to take chances to learn things about yourself. Keep up the great content, Drew! Gotta vlog when you try Di Fara Pizza 👀. #pvv would also be cool to see you explore different fashion subcultures and their histories in the city.
#pvv would love some lifestyle content in nyc. also really keen to see the documentary type videos you spoke about, sounds super interesting. thanks for the positivity✌
I try to watch videos as often as I can, but you are by far one of my favorite content creators in this day of YT. So genuine and gentle with your videography. You'll do great in NY Drew o7
Congrats Drew! I'm jealous as hell back here in Denver, those bagels and pizza look fire! You nailed Denver's drivers. It's cutthroat out there, and the city doesn't do too much to make being a stupid driver difficult. I'm looking forward to your content out there, specifically your idea of more documentary-style dives into different scenes of nyc. It would be sweet if each video, or series of videos, focused on particular subcultures and the people, places, businesses, and things connected to it. Good luck, and congrats on your shoot/project!
