I love traveling with you. What always stands out as a British person is how clean everywhere is. Unfortunately this country is treated like a trash can. I think people who visit here must be utterly amazed at how much rubbish we drop and leave. Where l swim the amount of rubbish l clear up is atrocious, and it is every sunny day. Such a shame as we live in a beautiful country.

Hi Sophia! I find at it very much depends on where you travel in the UK. I lived in Northumberland and there trash was very much an issue. But in Cornwall for example or the lake district I didn't find it as bad? But it's trough that those german speaking countries are usually known for their order and cleanliness!

Cornwall and lake District are very up market tourist destinations, they invest in cleaning them up. But since COVID people have stayed home to holiday. My brother lives in Scotland, and his local beach is a beautiful spot. Have been going there for 30 years, but las tvtwo years have seen so much litter, it is heartbreaking.

I'm from Germany and i was a bit shocked how littered Manchester was. Sheffield was quite clean and York super tidy, of course. But there's also a lot of trash in bigger German cities. I really loved Sheffield btw.

I found that Paris was stunningly trashy. Also Fontainbleau. I hadn’t realized that Seattle and Washington, in general, was so clean.

I had a similar experience my first evening in Paris. I choose a restaurant near my hotel and showed up just as the kitchen closed. Long tiring day and I was hungry and knew that if you miss dinner hour in France you are basically out of luck. The server took pity and had the kitchen make me dinner anyway. She is a saint.

Both Austria and Switzerland are beautiful in the summer but they both truly come in to their own in the winter. The splendor. Christmas in Vienna, I just fawn over the prospect of Grand Hotel, the Opera and midnight mass.

Hi from another country mouse. This one even had to live in London for 6 months - torture ! Your visit to Innsbruck reminded me of my visit which was... um... 50 years ago ! I can't believe it. I agree that it's much more interesting to learn about the lives of ordinary people and not just the richest, most important ones. And I do remember that golden roof to the balcony. It looks a bit brassy to me ! Oh, it's raining here in Cumbria, we can share some with you. Pete

We had a similar experience in a small town in Poland - arrived at the hotel late, to find both it's restaurant and the only other one in the town already closed. Luckily the hotel had been hosting a party and had a fair amount of leftovers that they kindly let us have, otherwise our only option would have been petrol station sandwiches...

Really enjoyed your visit to Salzburg which was very unusual from; usually taking care of Oddie. If one is used to eating late in Italy or Spain then it is a shock in other places with supper finding at 8.30! Best wishes Rodney.

I remember asking my history teacher once: All we learn about is kings and queens and politicians and wars and borders. But I want to know how the regular people lived then! What did they eat, how did they wash, what did they sleep on etc.! 🤓🤗👍 (my teacher's answer was evasive, understanding, but what's not in the history books did not concern her - and she didn't know anything about it of course 😄... Later I asked myself if history isn't just one interpretation of accounts of what happened (or didn't...)).☮

Contact the lost & found office of the railway company. They may well have your helmet and be willing to mail it to you. For a small fee of course, as well as postage. Lovely trip, I find EU railways wonderful. The US has nothing even remotely comparable. Best regards from rainy, hot and mosquito filled Miami.😅

Sometimes things happen for a reason and missing one restaurant lead you to a possible better one!! You’re always living my dream in such a beautiful location and house! Also very pleased to know you’re a vegan too! Last time I was in Innsbruck, I was having panic attacks and craving my favorite Indian food in the city. If it’s still there, i would have recommended it. The owners son is a doctor and they taught me a simple breathing technique which actually helped me until I arrived in China. Also, Dein Deutsch ist eigentlich nicht schlecht! The Mouse story is a fable from Aesop (esopo) ;). And yes, you are right, German isn't a very beautiful language. Italian sounds most beautiful to me. But i also like spanish. Norwegian is also nice, still germanic but softer and sometimes it sounds a bit funny to me. 😊

oh gosh Marina - what a disturbing last day of travel! so did they let the bike sit on the seat next to you? I remember once my husband had to pay for a plane seat for his guitar - fair (fare?) enough - but they didn't give it a baggage allowance!

The bike went to a different compartment, had to unload the bags and carry them around with me and they where veery heavy! That's funny i also had to buy a plane ticket for my guitar once and you won't believe it they gave her the best sit (window) and I had to sit in the middle 😂
