my father died a few years ago. every time i listen to this song i can see him wasting away in a hospital bed, dying slowly painfully and all i can do is watch. every time i listen to this song i break down and cry lamenting over the decisions i made and the ones i should have made instead. this song conjures visages of him to show how disappointed, angry, sad, and ashamed of me he would be. how i failed him over and over before and after he died. how he had great hopes for me and my future and i fell short into mediocrity. but as I'm drowning in this self hate he reaches down and places his hand on my shoulder saying, "hey, buddy. it'll be ok... you just gotta get back up and try a bit harder." and for that fleeting moment the images of him mad and ashamed fade away and i can feel his warmth hold me like he always did... then the song ends and he is gone... and i remember ... my dad is dead... and will never hold me lovingly like that again.

I think this song really highlights the friendship between Eminem and Dr dre. Theres a lot of passion out into this song, and I think that's what's missing in more recent raps; passion and reality.

I listened to this song last year during quarantine. I had severe depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I could feel the lyrics, they were screaming for me as no one could hear my voice.

So basically a true doctor is a supporter and a true friend who relights the fires in the passions of others they touch, keeping them from dying both from the inside and the outside. After all these years, Dr. Dre realized who his REAL best friends were, and those who followed him and left him behind "died away" (this is some deep sh**). Basically, a person dies when they're forgotten, but thanks to Eminem, he never "died" in the end. Dr. Dre is Eminem's doctor, and that's saying a lot about these two. I want to be someone's doctor one day. :)
