You don't necessarily need to finish CR, but you absolutely, without a doubt, MUST watch ExU Calamity. If nothing else, it gives you opportunities to talk about the differences between low-level and high-level play and full campaigns versus short stories\one-shots
I honestly think what BLM did in ExU Calamity is the single best example of a master class in collaborative story telling I've ever had the privilege of hearing. And I would ADORE hearing Megaphone's reaction to everything.
I've heard EXU calamity come up at least a dozen times in stream, AND from irl friends that are just vaguely aware of the stream concept XD at this point, it's going to be a fuckin event when I get there :D might make a whole weekend stream of it!
So fun fact that trick you're talking about where you're following threads are during creation is a classic improv trick as well! I generally love to refer to D&D as the best long form improv game because that's really all it is. Honestly, taking improv classes helped improve my D&D experience and behavior exponentially.
