The 90's was when gangs were really going after each other, there was a lot of stuff to rap about going on in the 90's. Kids now think Gucci Mane or Drake is gangster, when Snoop Dogg at least back then anyways was a real member of the Long Beach Crips. Lots of the old school Rap artists were real intercity gang members, not these made for the Music industry pop personalities.

The 90's was the golden era of hip hop. Dre, Snoop, Biggie, 2 pac., Naughty by Nature, Wu Tang, and tons of others. All became huge during this era with landmark albums.
You have to watch Straight Out Of The Compton" to get some of the history. NWA - You've basically entered a whole new world and we are here for the ride ☺
When Snoop first started out he was so shy, he hated cameras and rarely made eye contact with the cameras! Gin and Juice was always my favorite and i love Snoop till this day!! Foxy Brown was really good and her song "Ill be" is one of my favorites but its Explicit to say the least hahaha

NWA (Easy-E and Dr. Dre)was original gangster. They were informing all us kids from the burbs, what was really going on in the hood. It was eye opening and necessary.
I apologize for not mentioning Ice Cube and MC Ren. NWA was great because the 4 together were powerful. Take any one away and its not as strong. I only listed Easy & Dre because I thought they have more name recognition with a younger generation

Tupac was next on Death Row's label. Dre, Snoop, and Pac made a lot of money for the label before Suge Knight messed it all up. They were three major Rappers for sure

Dr. Dre has collaborations with all kinds of people. I saw Burt Bacharach pull out a tape, and he was like "Dr. Dre sent me this beat".

This video made me smile, I’m in my 30’s with an older brother into gangster rap from the 90’s, I remember the first time hearing this too, you can’t explain it, the whole album is a masterpiece, simply perfect from start to finish, let me ride is another noted song on the album

The scene when they entered the party, the guy wearing the white hat and the Dickie outfit (old school lol) who went straight to the fridge filled with forties, was The DOC! He was down with them (Dre, Snoop, NWA) too and did his own music; but unfortunately was in a very serious car accident that severed his vocal chords and did major damage to his voice. He chose to step behind the scenes and get into production. His hit song, It’s Gettin’ Funky Enough, is hot though and definitely worth checking out! He’s also Erykah Badu’s daughters’ father.
It saddens me that there is a whole generation of people who don't know about Snoop back in the day. I'm thankful for these reaction channels not just for the rock and metal reviews but for the young kids learning about shit their parents listened to.
Dr. Dre was rapping since the late 1980s. He was one of the founding members of NWA. Btw, even in the early 1990s when this song came out, those cars were still OLD SCHOOL. Those are old1950s cars that they convert into lowriders.

We used to go to these parties that started in the early afternoon and ended in the early morning. Dre, Snoop and Nate Dog would show up with their crew and party before moving on to the studio. It was when they became big, and the beefs became dangerous that it all stopped. But those were good times. This song always reminds me of summer.

I live near Atlanta, Ga and my first trip to Cali was in '84. I had never seen cars like that! My 5th grade self seriously thought they were going to transform into robots! These two guys were true poets...and still are!
Dr Dre was a legend even back in France when I first listened to hip hop in the late 90's with Chronic 2001, later I discovered the 1st Chronic and though different, it was still amazing, especially the beats.. Both of them still in the game to this day it's crazy

The LBC! That's my hometown. Long Beach! Snoop went to high school across town from me and was just a bit older, but I still ran into him at a couple of parties. Back then, though, he was Calvin. "Snoop" came a bit later. And VIP Records is around the corner from my friend's house.
I grew-up in LA County (Gardena, CA) during the 90's and early 2000s. These songs aren't just classic West Coast hip-hop but classic hip-hop in general. I feel that all the younger generations should know about these songs and I'm shocked and saddened when such mega hits are unknown by them.
I'm watching this realizing that there are entire generations that I've never heard this song. Entire generations that did not know Snoop Dogg when he was this young. And who probably have never really listened to his earlier stuff. Man I'm getting old.
1992 was the first year of the golden age of West Coast rap. The Chronic came out that year along with The Predator by Ice Cube, Dead Serious by Das FX, Guerrillas In The Mist by Da Lench Mob. 1993 hit, Doggy Style hit the charts, 19 Naughty III by Naighty By Nature, 187 He Wrote by Spice 1, Til Death Do Us Part by Geto Boys, and it was batting 1000 on the west coast (not to say the aforementioned were all West Coast rappers).

You have no idea how revolutionary this song was. This was the #1 album in '92 for almost the whole year. "Let me Ride" and "Don't f* wit Dre" are also excellent tracks.
People like to talk about how this type of music influences kids so I’d like to share my experience. I was a young white kid from the suburbs when this music came out and I discovered it on MTV. Before that I had no idea the world African Americans lived in actually existed. I remember thinking “what do you mean they don’t actually have the opportunities I do?”. I had no idea that they were treated that way by the police and I thought it was wrong. Without this music I would have had no clue that the struggles people go through every day just to survive were real. This music opened my eyes to a world beyond my own and absolutely had a positive influence on how I feel about things today.
This was the time. There wouldn't be many rappers if it wasn't for Dre. Period. These are the goats. Used to cruise the strip at Myrtle Beach to this. Best times. Great react!
I remember Snoop saying that meeting Dre was the first time someone looked at him and said "you're gonna need to learn how to sing when you rap" and it changed his life.
