Man sometimes you really have to, most places close to me don't run their spillways like that and I live in the DFW area, but will travel back to Southwest Arkansas, East Texas to fish!

Classic strategy that I use all the time too 👍. If you REALLY want the bigger fist to bite, you can also try keeping an open tackle box in your lap or go pee behind a tree. That's usually when I get a bite on each line simultaneously. Good luck friend. 🎣

Just caught my first catfish today. You kinda helped me achieve it I just did kinda what you do cash small fish and use cut bait. Within 5 or 10 minutes I had something jerk the rod then let off I reeled in a tad and let it go and it almost snagged my rod out of my hands as I went to set it down lol. Tightened my drag and started cranking it was a good fight it twisted and jerked my rod every witch way it was a battle for sure. For my first catfish I’ll have to say I did pretty good he was at least as long as my arm. Pretty darn fat to. Sorry I’m blabbing now but hey man I’ve been trying to catch one for months now and I finally found a good local spot with a good bit of ‘em im gonna go back tomorrow probably and see if I can’t catch another. Thank you man.

Couldn't agree more about turning your back and bang! Fish on. Was fishing a river in Australia in winter. My partner was moanining she was cold, so I said 'watch the rods while I light a fire'. Lit said fire and I heard 'oh no!', turned to see the rod shoot off the bank into the river!. 🤣. After much swearing and wading in freezing cold water, finally found the rod and eventually landed said fish!. 🤣

Hey buddy, this is just my advice, but you need to carry some antiseptic wipes with you along with a bottle of ( or tube) super glue, the super glue will seal up cuts and take the burning & stinging out of cuts, take it from someone who knows, I used to have super glue and alcohol pads in everyone of my tackle boxes. Be safe out there bud

It's the hook set. Reel in the slack and then really snap back and set that hook. You won't beg for it to stay on with a solid hook set.

Put bacon in tinfoil and set in the sun, let it bake, then use it! Creates a awesome oil slick that attracts fish!

Drum are fun, used to catch some tanks in Shreveport while fishing for bass. Used to get bowfin also which are one of my favs.

instead of putting your rod sideways. When you bring in a jerk/crank bait loosen the drag a bit so its pulling line with good tension and lift that rod tip to the sky and back. So instead of going sideways almost go up and back if that makes sense. You might see some better results while landing with lighter treble hooks!!

I feel your frustration. I lost what would’ve been a PB largemouth (because I forgot my net) in the spring. And it’s been a meh season. Lost another one this morning, caught me unaware. I was fishing for panfish with my ultralight and had a bass by the looks of it would’ve been at least 5+ lbs. I got to excited and tried to wrestle it in and snapped the line.
