The Three Body Problem is a sci-fi. It has a fascinating back story which Stephanie over on Rotten Mango (RU-vid podcast channel) broke down. I highly recommend the video and her channel in general.

Ok but Emily Wilde is NOT Romantasy. Fantasy with a romance subplot (barely) but not Romantasy. The story is virtually unchanged with the romance removed ❤ It’s like calling A Curious Beginning a Romance. /end rant LOL

I read Three Body Problem earlier this year, its HARD sci fi, like you need a degree in physics to understand parts! I liked it, but it was too confusing for me

I read A Fate Inked in Blood last week and if there was incest, I completely missed it. I’m racking my brain and can’t think of anything. I guess because she falls for her husband’s son, but she’s never intimate with her husband, it’s in name only. I enjoyed this one, and the mythology is strong in the story. Enjoy!

I haven't read The Purpose Guided Universe, but I'm excited to see what you think! Until recently I viewed atheism as the default and a given, but when I started to look deeper I found that science did not just flat out oppose God like I thought it did and that there was actually many logical arguments for the existence of God. The issue is not as simple as I used to think it was!

Just finished The Ministry of Time yesterday and I adored it! Loved Kaliane Bradley’s writing. One thing that might be fun to keep in mind while reading is that Lt. Graham Gore was a real person and the Arctic expedition he was on and those who were involved is all real and accurate! That didn’t quite click for me before reading but I’m planning to reread it next year…perhaps during the icy cold months of January here in Canada. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts xx

I didn't love The Women, but i did love The Nightingale, Four Winds, and The Great Alone. Kristin Hannah has an insane number of books. I haven't read any of her older titles.

OMG you are reading the three body problem ! It is so interesting but very dense (sciency). I know I struggled to read the trilogy but it was sooooooooooo worth it ! The audiobooks are gold too, I recommand !

I'm about 30% in to A Fate Inked In Blood and liking it a lot more than I thought I would (I struggle with Romantasy in general) so hopefully you will have good luck too! I will say that I read The Ministry of Time last week and just so you don't have the wrong expectations it is not, technically, a romance. I found it an odd read. There were elements I enjoyed but overall it didn't work for me.

I really enjoyed What Lies in the Woods. I've enjoyed everything I've read by Kate Alice Marshal. And it's a good summer themed thriller.

Massive book recommendation: The Betrayal of Thomas True, it comes out July 4th and I challenge you now Meg to find a way to get this book on your TBR, I think you will love this book and I ask you to prove me wrong. It is a genre bending mystery that hits like no other you will read this year.

As someone who reads quite a lot of romantasy (and a Scandinavian) I was VERY disappointed in Fate Inked in Blood… it just fell flat and felt poorly researched tbh 😅

The only romantasy books you read I really disliked. But there are enjoyable romantasy books: One Dark Window is a nice example. I haven't read this book by Danielle Jensen but the Bridge Kingdom series is quite nice.

Danielle L Jensen's writing is not the best in my opinion and you might struggle with the debutyness of it (I haven't read this one but her first book, might have improved with time)

I too believe that there's life outside the Earth. It's impossible with billions of galaxies that we are the only living beings in the Universe. It's a terrible thought, it's solitaire. There are and probably there was forms of life in multiple stages in other million of planets out there. But the other sad thing: we'll never know for sure, because the Universe is so inhumanly big and dangerous.

I personally think it's more foolish to believe that it's only us + other life on Earth in the whole galaxy. Feels a little conceited to believe that.
