This is what I was thinking! It’s a nice work around for the many issues that Nintendo Online has. I mean I never played Online 3D world but I can imagine that it was sometimes laggy
Removes the weakest link being dragged along or eating lives/powerups or the really good player going ahead and dragging everyone else along. You can still mess with friends by playing keep away from the ghost when they are trying to revive. Also probably prevents some trapping with grappling hooking to a special spot and then leaving the other player there with no way off.
I don't think you guys were really listening. In online play your actually playing at the same time you're just not on the same level, so you're not missing each other up due to one person going ahead or someone having bad connection. It's literally like you're playing the game together, it's just that everybody has their own viewpoint. Plus they implemented a race feature where you can actually race each other and not have to worry about straying too far away from each other so honestly, this is a W for online play!
Wonder is gonna be peak. Literally just so much content, *(technically*) 11 PLAYABLE CHARACTERS.* Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toads, Toadette, Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, Red Yoshi, Cyan Yoshi, and Nabbit (though if you wanna get real the rest are just reskins, do what you will with that information) Those stamps are what interested me too. There are a lot of ways to customize your gameplay, and stamps are no exception. Wall jump, parachutes hat thing, and even a vine grab thingy! That’s so cool! Also the online multiplayer might be one of the best multiplayer type gimmicks I’ve seen in a 2D side scroller. It’s basically like a huge hub world where you can meet anyone, and play with your friends! I’ll probably edit this and add more things I love about this game, but it is 200% gonna be peak. *The only question is, I wonder how far Elephant Mario’s legs can spre-*
Seeing how Bowser's fury gave us a look at what a 3d Mario game could be like with traditional power ups from 2d games I hope for the next big 3d mario game we could see these power up's and upgrades from wonder show up too. Well............most of the new power ups anyway
dude this direct was absolutely fucking CRAZY i am BEYOND excited for this game now, more than i already was i'm still tweakin from the excitement of just watching the og lmfao, this game's gonna be so fucking good also when i saw the semi-online multiplayer i was like "oh fadel's gonna lose his shit at this" (well apart from all the OTHER times youre gonna lose your shit at this LMFAO)
It's crazy how much they took from Metroid for the badge powerups. Awesome! The online mode is very Dark Souls inspired. FYI the reason why they have you as ghost even with friends is because of online lag. If 3 friends can interact with your world lag is an issue like Mario Maker, and that sucks for precise platforming. I think this is a great compromise and you can still interact with each other just not each others worlds.
Something that I noticed and I haven't seen anyone else talk about: at 9:12, Mario unlocks a course called "Wiggler Race: Mountaineering!" The "Wiggler Race" portion of the course name is in yellow, just like the Badge Challenge and Break Time courses, which means there are multiple Wiggler Race courses throughout the game! I really love all the smaller challenges this game offers, they look super fun!
We all nutted because Wonder looks incredible between new enemies galore, the playable characters, all the new power-ups and Wonder Flower effects, badges practically à la Yoshi's Woolly World etc.! By the way, despite everyone showing as ghosts in online play, no matter if friends or strangers, they're playing the same level as you at the same moment and the only interactions missing compared to local co-op are sharing lives and interactions with the same blocks, coins etc., everything else is the same so I'd say it's a really cool online mode!
The online isn't like Mario Kart ghosts it real time and you can interact in some ways, there's just no hit detection because that makes lag not a problem
With Super Mario Bros Wonder, Nintendo is tapping back into their creative juices that they're known for. And with Super Mario RPG, Nintendo is acknowledging the Mario RPG's core audience and traditional roots. My humble brothas and sistas, its time to rejoice😊. Both games have already been pre-ordered for me, and I'm more than excited for em.
Beautiful new art style, great playability, 12 different playable characters, incredible new abilities and gimmicks, a great story, and both cop-op AND online multiplayer This isn’t just shaping up to be the best 2D Mario yet, this is shaping up to be one of the best Mario games ever
I remember seeing Nabbit while playing New Super Mario Bros. U (And yes, my childhood console was unfortunately the Wii U). I’m SO glad that they didn’t leave Nabbit in the dust with the failure of the game he originated on and let him shine in this amazing new 2D Mario game! Thank you Nintendo.
Safety bounce is only bitch mode if its used as a crutch, there are some genuine platforming shenanigans that it might allow (like hiding a 10 coin in an area you can only reach with a lava/pit bounce)
I'm just flabbergasted about that Bowser IS the castle instead of having a new castle. He fucking BECAME the castle, he IS a SENTINENT BUILDING. WHAT THE HELL I love everything about this. I think the final boss is going to be veeeery interesting. I'm not even mad that they used Bowser as the villain again because this feels UNIQUE
Did they confirm new actor for Mario n gang or just straight gameplay? Also speaking of gameplay, honestly while ya disappointing that Nintendo still can't offer online multiplayer, still their trade of online races n interacting with strangers online is good enough. As for the power ups, favorite one might be the Buddle power up. I'm glad they got rid of the buddle once ur friend is out and replace it with ghost. Nice it won't be so frustrating trying to relive ur gang. The badges are a cool gimmick, the grapple n Sonic speed are going to be a blast to speed run. Glad Toadetta, Nabbit, n Captain Toad are joining in the party. New lvls looks colorful n gorgeous asf. And finally I like the fact that Bowser touch the wonder seed and evolved him into some sick wonder virus that spread across the Flower kingdom. I'm excited that Nintendo is giving the plot for Mario a nice change of pace and can't wait to pick up the game and play with my bro
Honestly prefer this online over directly interacting with others. It's like meeting fellow travelers rather than fighting in a cramped car on a 10-hour drive with your siblings.

This new style of online co-op is perfect because it gives you all of the good sides of co-op (reviving, sharing items) and giving you none of the bad sides. You now can't purposely fuck someone over cause you're a troll. It makes co-op actually fun versus frustrating. And if you're playing with friends, it's still co-op. But again, your friends can't fuck you up on purpose.
This game is gonna be so amazing! Local co-op on this game sounds like it would be pretty chaotic especially with how many options you have for characters to play.
Negatives All the characters play the same and there is no contact while playing in online multiplayer. Positives Everything else. Plus, people will definitely mod the game or create cheats to get the characters to play differently and maybe allow real multiplayer like they did in Odyssey and other games.
Guess I'll have to be the one... Players can't even interact in local coop, there are no collisions aside from mounting yoshi. Look at the footage closely
