If you can afford and have space buy a few big book shelves that reach the ceilling and then make it an actual library like in Beauty and The Beast maybe even have a ladder!
My sister and I built floor to ceiling shelves with a rolling ladder in like a day and a half. We used a barn door track and rollers for the ladder and it really wasn't that difficult.
Yeah, maybe if you were a millionaire. In reality most people can't afford this amount of books. The economy is about. Spend Spend Spend. Anything else would hurt the US.
And then you realize that if you wanted to get high quality shelves made of real wood instead of ikea furniture, you're going to be paying thousands of dollars.
Just know that he spent more money than you, and he probably only comprehends 25% of a book because he can't read the book 2 times to get it's full value.
Afraid. Almost all those books are going to end up being in the dump (they are not made of good quality materials). This is pure consumerism. If you have a tablet/phone/laptop is better to exchange social media time for online book reading. Stop damaging the earth just to presume. 🙏🏼
@@ASTR0TALKSPHILOSOPHY Me too. At the begging, I bough used books, now I exchanged social media for reading (I do even delete Tik Tok hahaha so I can read more). My University text books are used.

@@ASTR0TALKSPHILOSOPHYso you btch a lot and comfort people about your personal insecurities in other words? There’s a word for that type of person. I don’t like those. Anyway, I’ve found it’s the content that affects the value I get from the book. Doesn’t matter how many times I read it. If it struck a chord, I’ve got it all the first time. If it didn’t, I can read it multiple times and keep forgetting major parts. And I think your funds are your business and you should stop projecting like people don’t know they spent money like obviously it’s intentional lol so pointing it out is not a big deal
Make sure you maintain them really well :”) i was going to make a library and started with a collection of maybe 30 books? and then my house got infested with termites and ofcourse they decided to hide in my books and ruin almost all of them 💔 and so had to say goodbye to the dream
I can't wait for the day that you begin to build your physical library to hold all of these books. It's the content that I've just realized I'm waiting for 💞

You really just put what 1000 books looks like into perspective for me. Like NOW I understand what my goal and my dream is. And now I’m rethinking how I plan to go about achieving this dream… because I’m gonna need some more space!
I had over 2000 books once, before I had to sell most of them when I moved house. Father-in-law built shelves for me. Fiction shelved by author and non-fiction cataloged in a database by the Dewey system. You can take the girl out of the local library staff but you can't take the library out of the girl.
I just recently found your channel and I’ve loved it so far! I love how different your channel is from most book content on RU-vid and I like how you recommend classics as well. Subscribed!
I'm currently writing my dissertation to become a librarian. Mate. You're stressing me out. In the best way possible, I look at this and I just want to organise it x))
I understand why people want this for sure! I’m not afraid to say I love stuff and collecting stuff haha but with books I mostly read on my phone bc of my disability makes it nearly impossible to hold physical copies of books, so the only physical books I keep are ones I haven’t read yet (probably won’t be able to anyway) and books that are my favorites that I want to see in my space ❤
People try buying every book (wether they like it or not) without having the room for them. It’s just strange to me. Like when people try having kids before they even have a house or the money to provide for them…
Protip for big book collections with lots of series; have a shelf or 2 just for the 1st book in every series, with a post it (or nonadhesive note to preserve the paper) tucked in the first page that says which crate in the attic/under the bed/etc you've stashed the rest! Helps with freeing up space for individual books which you need priority access to, and i usually do it once a series surpasses 3 books, so i have a trilogy shelf, but as soon as the 4th book hits, i upgrade it to this system 😅
Shelves dear, I mostly use Ikea 'Billy' bookcases, affordable, moveable and able to absorb books by the metre. Additional adjustable shelves to so all those paperbacks can be put on 4 shelves on the bottom rather than 3. Finally you can take them with you if you're renting. NB: I passed the 1000 mark a few years ago and have about 1200 now. Have fun xx
I easily have 1000 books, but most are from my dad. He moved a couple hours away and I stayed in the house I grew up in. He had also inherited collections from his two brothers, my uncles, one moved to Australia and the other to Florida from NY. I never really realized how many classics and just great writers filled my shelves up until the past few years. I would come back from a book store with some new books and would find copies already existed on one of my many book shelves.
I've moved house a LOT and one time my mum had to pack our place up by herself and she counted all of our books. We had 3000 books as a family of 3. We're now down to about 500 across two homes. Life is much better now we keep our library in the public library lol!
Capitalise HOT in hot mess. But seriously I would love to eventually see those books in a beautiful room as a library with a small reading nook and a ladder 🥰
I can just imagine how wonderful it would be have a conversation with this man. My grandad has a library and I actually just called him to ask this, he has more than 2000 books. His library is crazy amazing and I love visiting him. I actually just steal books from him bcuz I know he probably has copies of the same books
Take care building shelves, remember, a shelf full of books while fabulous van also be very heavy. Ive put so many shelves up, none stay up for long. Glad I dont love expensive pottery 😊
We are all children of Kallaxes and Billys. I know exactly how you feel! Well done hititng 1k. Btw you will have so much fun organising it when you have enough space!
I used to have sooooo many books, and when we moved house I donated most of them. I kept my faves (which is still quite a few ha!) now I wish I had kept them 😭
I'm very confident that I'm on my way to accumulating 1000 books. My shelves and desk are overflowing and the rest is stacked on top of each other in cardboard boxes. It's a very small room, too, so despite my never ending love for books, I give myself hoarder vibes.
@@zoe127 Nobody's gonna read ulysses in a few days and say that they've comprehended 100% of the text. It's impossible for the human brain to speed read and understand everything to an extent, mostly when it's an actually good book.
@itznix6962 i read the twilight series in a week. It took that long because i had to search online for the books and then went to pick them up 😂 so its possible
I’m sort of glad it’s a hot mess? Beautiful shelves can come in time. I had to downside a few times to get into different london flats…I still miss those books!!
Amazing, but watch out as the floor can fall through with the weight if you store these on the 1st floor. Happened to someone in my local area who had floor to ceiling book shelves upstairs.
Bro I love your video. It would be great if you could improve your sound quality. Your RU-vid channel is great btw. It's just a suggestion. Hope it could help you.
I donated all my book to the library of my town because they need new ones and don't have founds for that. The library is full of old books that no one reads anymore. It's a shame for a book to be kept on shelfs and not ne read it of somebody who can't afford to buy 😢 in the end that is only paper and books are made to be read. From an avid reader please find a place that need all those books and let them go ♥️
We have just under 800 books at our home and what really bugs me is that I know we have the missing 200 at our cottage. They are two different locations so I don't think it qualifies. It's so close yet so far!
I would put all of the in an excel sheet, to know how many i have, organise them in abc and write down where is find them. No problem with finding what i want anymore
The trick is to stop buying books and start reading fanfics instead; they take up zero space (other than on your hard drive if you download them) and you don’t have to pay a single cent! 😃 (…which is good, because I spent all my allowance from my entire childhood on buying books, and they have _no_ second hand value and it feels _horrible_ to throw them away, so have huge boxes up on the attic of books I have no idea what to do with lol)
