Ever wondered what happens if you eat ONLY biltong for an entire month? I took on this unique 30-day biltong diet challenge to find out!
👨‍⚕️ Driven by health concerns, including an autoimmune condition (Eosinophilic esophagitis), allergies, asthma, and energy levels, I embarked on this elimination diet recommended by my doctor. But there's a twist! I was also curious about the impact of tough foods on facial structure and development, inspired by books like "Breathe" by James Nestor and "Jaws" by Paul R. Ehrlich and Sandra Kahnit.
🎥 In this video:
Daily diet routine: Only biltong and water, no supplements!
Physical and health changes over the weeks: weight, energy levels, and gym routines.
Blood test results: before and after the diet.
Surprising sleep and mood changes.
Did my facial structure change? Before and after comparisons!
Caloric intake and its impact.
Body and physique transformations.
Handling cravings and dietary temptations.
Blood test revelations: What went up and what went down?
Digestive changes and overall mental health impacts.
🚨 Disclaimer: This is a personal experiment and not a dietary recommendation. Always consult with healthcare professionals before making significant diet changes.
💬 What do you think of this extreme diet experiment? Could you see any changes in my facial structure? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Just by switching to Carnivore/keto, my itchy/red and swollen legs are no longer inflamed. I eliminated vegetables and any plant matter from diet, and that cured my eczema, cured my heartburn, diarrheas, bloating, hemorrhoids, constipations and painful knees and joints all over my body. Everything is soooo peaceful and i have tons more energy and im never tired.

Couple of thoughts watching this: 1. The salt was not cheating. That was literally necessary and salt should not have considered a part of the elimination diet. 2. Fatty red meat somewhat rare is a perfectly fine source of vitamin C. So good choice at the end there. You don't need a lot to begin with...
@Angry_Lion
@Angry_Lion 8 месяцев назад
And carbohydrates hinders vitamin c from getting absorbed. Less carbs means less C is needed
@nicholasjh1
@nicholasjh1 8 месяцев назад
100% true. Vitamin c heavy break down doesn't occur until 158 degrees fahrenheit. Rare beef is 135. Though some organs have much more vitamin c. Muscle meat only has about .04% of what's needed to prevent scurvy per gram, so in a kilogram of rare beef you'd only get about 40% of vitamin c needed to prevent scurvy. though drying would also remove much of the vitamin c. You'd really need to eat rare spleen, liver, or brain

Yes, Water, Salt (electrolyte) , Tallow (beef fat instead of butter/oil) and Ruminant meats (beef, lamb, venison,...) are "lion diet" basics
@andrewb1986
@andrewb1986 8 месяцев назад
@@nicholasjh1 I don't believe we know how much is required to prevent scurvy. An actual trial was conducted restricting vitamin C for people until they developed scurvy and different groups were given a various sets amount of vitamin C. All of the groups made a full recovery in the exact same amount of time, demonstrating that we *still* don't know what the lowest effective dose of vitamin C actually is.
@rab1df0x

@@Angry_Lion its not that carbohydrates reduce absorption exactly, in the absence of glucose it frees up the glut transporters which are then used to recycle vitamin C

Hey everyone a little update, I accidentally cut out the part about my EOE. Symptoms reduced and had no impactions after the second week. This is not a surprise as I know that my body is reacting to a food trigger as I have done an elimination diet before. But it begs the question what is the trigger and should I avoid it the rest of my life? I believe it the autoimmune response is from leaky gut so my aim now is to heal that. Let me know down below if you have healed yourself from any allergens, would love to hear your story!

I had cystic adult acne until I went all-beef. Within 1 week my skin was perfectly clear, for the first time since I was 13 (I was 26 at the time, 27 now). I’ve tried reintroducing different foods since then, including milk, yogurt, kefir, cheese, liver, and blueberries, and every single one breaks me out except for cheese. I suspect it’s carbs that do it to me, so I’m going to try butter next. I also used to eat a lot of salt, but started getting cramps and hypnic spasms, so I had to cut that too.

Love the video! It's always fun to see an experiment taking things to the extreme. I may have missed it in the video but what did this do for your autoimmune issues? For me the mental clarity, energy, fat loss (I was the stereotypical fat powerlifter now sporting a six pack year round), inflammation, skin issues and complete elimination of all my allergies were the biggest noticeable changes. Creatinine and Urea were initially elevated above baseline, but it came down after a few months. Other blood markers pretty much stayed the same.

5:45 Prehistoric carnivores would have gotten tons of electrolytes in the water they drank, so I don't think there's a problem with supplementing it. Also tons of carnivore or near carnivore people groups drank the blood of the animals and the milk of their livestock, which would be the best source of electrolytes. Beef jerky doesn't provide that.

A person's "view" on whether high LDL causes heart disease or not is irrelevant. A review on the National Institute of Health’s website titled “LDL-C does not cause cardiovascular disease: a comprehensive review of the current literature” concluded: The idea that high cholesterol levels in the blood are the main cause of CVD is impossible because people with low levels become just as atherosclerotic as people with high levels and their risk of suffering from CVD is the same or higher. The cholesterol hypothesis has been kept alive for decades by reviewers who have used misleading statistics, excluded the results from unsuccessful trials and ignored numerous contradictory observations. Additionally, as reported on UCLA Health, A new national study has shown that nearly 75 percent of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had cholesterol levels that would indicate they were not at high risk for a cardiovascular event, based on current national cholesterol guidelines. Specifically, these patients had low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels that met current guidelines, and close to half had LDL levels classified in guidelines as optimal (less than 100 mg/dL). "Almost 75 percent of heart attack patients fell within recommended targets for LDL cholesterol, demonstrating that the current guidelines may not be low enough to cut heart attack risk in most who could benefit," said Dr. Gregg C. Fonarow, Eliot Corday Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the study's principal investigator.

@@ConnorCurtisjust try a clean keto diet where you eat good quality grass fed meats, fish, eggs, cruciferous veggies, and berries. Keto is a bit higher inflammation than strict carnivore because you still eat 20-50g of carbs per day, but as long as you avoid gluten and grains that act similar to gluten like oats, you should be fine. Also mix in fermented foods for your gut like full fat Greek yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented cheeses, etc. Sheep and goat cheeses also contain MCT oil naturally which boosts your energy and increases your life span. And last but not least is avoid corn and seed oils, use EVOO, avocado oil, and grass fed butter or ghee for cooking. Vegetable oils are the leading suspects now for heart disease according to the latest studies.

EoE is eosinophilic esophagitis for anyone wondering. Milk was the issue for my so I cut that. EoE is basically the esophagus closing and you can't swallow food. It doesn't happen right away so many people think it is the food they choke on. If someone chokes on rice they think rice is the problem but it was really the milk to the allergen from weeks ago causing the esophagus to slowly close. There are 6 major allergens (dairy, tree nuts/peanuts, soy, wheat, eggs, fish/shellfish). Everything was easy to cut and then I got down to milk and realize I am not a cow or a baby cow or a baby human. I went vegan a year after cutting milk stopped my EOE. I did the vegan thing for ethics because I got to experience living without milk after thinking I needed it which was a lie from the big food companies.

Then i think it was 2 week later you started with the tongkat ali and went from around 16.6 nmol/L to 28.1 nmol/L. Now with the jerky you went from 22 nmol/L to 23.1 nmol/L. Are you still taking the tongkat ali and/or all of the vitamin supplements. If not how have you maintained your fairly high total T level. If youre no longer taking the tongkat ali did you notice your total T level dip slightly but then level off at a higher level than prior to taking the Tongkat Ali. Thanks

Biltong is far superior to beef jerky; throw in droëwors and it's pure bliss. Make sure that none of these are made with added sugars. In South Africa we have access to wetter biltong and droëwors (dried for 3 to 4 days) which makes it easier to eat i.e. solves the painful jaw problem with eating drier biltong.

Theoretically, you should not need salt on a meat only diet. I make jerky and have lately been eating it as a snack to thwart hunger pains until evening as I usually skip lunch- I eat a late breakfast. Better a strip or two of jerky than tearing into a bag of chips or some sugary fatty high calorie junk. I also would recommend psyllium fiber capsules.

Thank you for that experiment! I had a similar thing happen when I went on an animal based diet last year. My uric acid had been elevated for eight years and it went down to an acceptable level within the first month of a carnivore-ish diet. Investigating this, I found out that taking in fructose (most table sugar is about 50% fructose) inhibits the excretion of uric acid, so I figure that's the culprit here.

Back in 2006 I was friends with a dude who was working as an assistant for the pickup artist, Mystery. He flew into my city a day early for a seminar and crashed on my couch. He came with mysteries stuff - a backpack with clean underwear and a large duffle bag packed full of beef jerky, which is all Mystery was eating at the time. I asked why, he looked at me like I was dumb and said “he’s an alpha. Beef jerky is how alphas get lean.” Apparently he lost 20 lbs on the diet.

I read in a book from Guilia Enders called "Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ", that having zero gas at all is a sign that you have starved away the bacteria in your gut which produce the gas. Which is probably not a good thing because part of those bacteria are beneficial for overall health

Use coconut oil for oil pulling for cleaning your mouth instead of brushing so much. Do some research on it as there's some that shows improvement. Your mouth is like your stomach in that is has good/bad bacteria and coconut oil feeds the good.

Oh no, i was trying to listen and see if it helped your esophogilial problems. I see the treatment is PPI's or antiacids, or other things. That are horrible for life. They can raise blood pressure and mess with all organs. Did you symptoms get better. Or did it go away and you forgot about this issue. I hope so. If not, look up Dr Nathan Bryan and nitric oxide. This circle of life and digestion. You need to absorb the nutrients to get the organs to function correctly to then be able to digest the foods or they may cause irritation if they don't get digested properly. Adding in PPI's or anti acids or other things like flouride will inhibit digestion and the breakdown of things to then make nutrients absorbable. For me and a few others black tea is highly inflammatory or irritating to digestion. I burp and have in-digestion symptoms. Dry mouth is a sign of nutrient deficiency and lack of nitric oxide. But don't take my word for it. I had dry mouth for 15 years. I had to go low carb and fasting to kick me into fat buring. It is a life saver and game changer. But today, my biggest trick/hack are ice cold showers, then sauna. It is a huge mood change. 2 to 3 times a day. If the water is still warm, get a chiller or ice chest and plunge in. How did the meat only fare for you. Keep at it. Check out Dr. Mark Burhenne for oral care. Again, no flouride for him. He recommends mouth taping like OA guy, or nestor for the breath book. If you do that and still have issues. Keep going. How about cider vinegar consumption. Have you tried that before a meal.

Great video 👍 Why did you choose dried meat instead of a fresh meat, aka lion diet? That would be still an ultimate elimination diet, and a hard food so you can chew a lot. Fresh meat also has some vitamin C, in some other forms rather than ascorbic acid. What happened to your allergies at the end of the experiment?

to be fair, its pretty normal to cook steak with salt so i don't think adding salt is bad or considered a cheat, i would even say it could be overlooked as a supplement since its prepared beef, its not like its raw lol Cool vid! i gave you a sub I am 38 now but I used to try different diets like this so much when I was younger Keto, Carnivore, even cycling eggs up to 36 per day (on top of what I was eating) no joke as well.. the 36 eggs per day thing was legit. I did olympic weightlifting for many years, there were certain weights I just could not hit & I was stuck on them for ages. Cycling eggs literally saw me making multiple PB's in a short timeframe. First week its 6 per day. Second week 12 per day. Third week 24 per day, 4th week 36 per day, then you cycle in reverse. I had them as raw eggs blended with a half small banana, this made the taste way better & anything more than half a small one was just too much when you got to the 36 per day.. I would chug it at the start of the day before work & far out it was a mission! I would love to see you give that a go though & see how you feel from that, obviously you might put on a bit of weight though adding a heap of calories, but who knows! you might gain a fair bit of mass since you train a lot too I look forward to checking out more of your vids, you did a really good job with this one & I think as time goes on your sub count will dwarf what you currently have Happy Australia Day & keep up the good work

hey dude you might not see this comment but when you did that 6 month squat transformation how much did you weight before and after the transformation? I'm a cyclist and I'm looking to increase my max power outage, squatting gives leg explosiveness which will help a lot, but gaining muscle mass will be a problem because I still want to be light to be faster. Thanks.

Hey mate, it was at the same time as my 6 month body transformation and i actually put on 6-8kg but this method of dense training for the squat I do not think is optimal way to put on muscle mass, which is why I would think that type of training might be good for cycling but im not 100% sure. Another thing, theres no such thing as "substituting salt or overcoming salt" in any sense of the word. You did not cheat by having more salt. Salt is involved in everything in your body, including nerve function, nerve impulses and electrical potential, blood pressure regulation etc etc etc. Salt is life literally.
