As a Chicagoan and lifelong portillos connoisseur ✨- you gotta try dipping a plain hotdog and a cheeseburger in cheese sauce. Also barnelli’s pastas (if your location has barnelli’s too) We also pronounce the Ls (por-till-os) and giardiniera is a chicago peppers topping and pronounced like jar-di-nare or jar-di-nar-a This was so fun to watch I was so excited lol

As someone born and raised in Chicago I absolutely loved this video. Some suggestions got next time: onion rings dipped in the cheese sauce, chopped salad (trust me it’s delicious) and the lemon cake that they serve in the spring time!

I used to live in Chicago and love Portillos! I live in Melbourne Florida now and at least once a year my daughter sends me a box of the Italian Beef, gravy and buns. It is available by mail order. Soooo good. One year she sent me a whole cake. And anytime there has been any kind of issue they have immediately remedied the situation. The customer service is excellent.

The Italian beef is ok but the combo sandwich which is the beef with the grilled Italian sausage with the beef gravy is on another level and adding the sweet peppers to it kick it up a notch-sooo flavorful. Sounds like a lot but it is delectable 😌🤤

Timmy! Love that you’re eating Portillos! A couple things: those peppers you love are called Sport Peppers, in case you need some where you’re at 🙂. Also Giardiniera sauce is pronounced “jard -n-air” and we love it too :) Lastly, the ll in Portillos are hard Ls, not like tortilla. Chicagoan here!! Pronounced "Poor-TIL-Os" (as in "until"). We're the home of the best Italian beef places in the country, and for a fast food/casual restaurant, Portillo's has really good Italian beef sandwiches!

I want to eat Por-TILL-o's for 24 hours! I used to live a couple blocks from one, but now the closest is about 45 minutes from me. The cheese fries are phenomenal and I love the chicken pecan salad. It comes with the best dressing ever. The chocolate cake shake should not be missed!

Italian beef is the greatest sandwich ever made. i am 100% convinced. I ate them for 3 meals straight last time i was in Chicago.

As a Chicagoan, I was SOO excited to see this video. My husband and I moved out of Chicago and now live in Oklahoma and the restaurant we miss the most is Portillos! We do pronounce the Ls in the name but I’m sure you’ve gotten so many of those comments 😂 anyway I LOVE you Timmy! I am so glad to see you try this restaurant! I never miss a video!! Louie’s Italian Beef seasoning packet is incredible and available at grocery stores, maybe one by you! Cover any beef roast in that seasoning, sear it and then put it in your crock pot. Add more of the seasoning, a jar of pepperoncini peppers and the juice or the giardiniera of your dreams, water, and cook that puppy till it shreds. Italian beef freezes amazingly- 10/10 would recommend 👍

As a chicago native, I highly recommend getting portillos chicken tenders and dipping them in their cheese sauce. It’s insanely delicious. Also their tamales are amazing and not anything like traditional tamales lol

Hey Timmy, as a third generation Chicagoan on one side of my family, I'm pleased that u enjoyed a Chicago favorite. Midwesterners love filling, simple food, especially if a good portion of beef is involved. I moved to the burbs several years ago but luckily we have a location near by. That strawberry shortcake is the bomb and there Italian beef is pretty good.

This is nostalgic to me. I'm from So Cal, and Portillos quickly became a favorite spot when it opened up in Moreno Valley years ago. As a child, my favorite order consisted of a beef hot dog, onion rings, and cheese sauce to dip everything in, of course. Their chocolate cake is top tier and the strawberry shortcake is delicious as well. Lemon cake is also pretty good. Sometimes, I would get a chopped salad too. I tried it from my mom once, and being that I wasn't the type of child that hated veggies, I loved it.

So I’ve eaten there many of times, honestly most things at portillos is really good, I definitely would recommend they’re garbage salad-onion rings-tamales with chili’s-eclair cake and they’re chicken noodle soup it’s one of my favorite’s, Also side note pouring a cake shake over the eclair cake is AMAZING!! and dipping the chicken tenders in cheese sauce! Hope try and enjoy 😊🫶

The Chili is that size as a side. If you order it by itself, it's a great size portion! You can also add their hot peppers to it for some heat! You can add an extra cup of hot peppers to add to the beef sandwiches too! they're amazing! ❤️ && If you love their regular burger, you HAVE to try the rodeo burger! You need to go back and try the Chili Cheese Dog, the Char Grilled Maxwell Street Polish Sausage, the Beef & Cheddar Croissant, ANY of the salads, the eclair cake! We were in Orlando to visit my aunt and I ate Portillos pretty much every meal! 🤣

My favorite Portillo's menu items are the Chicago style polish and the Beef and Sausage Combo with extra hoppers and gravy on the side. Try it dipped in the gravy but you will need to eat it in the parking lot. Totally worth it

Hi Timmy! I have worked for Portillo for a very long time. I believe the flavor you were missing on the Chicago dog is ketchup. We do not put ketchup on a hot dog unless it’s requested. I’m so happy you enjoyed the food!

We go here very often! Well, not THAT one, but one here in Gilbert, AZ.... LOVE LOVE their vegan veggie dog and their onion rings are BOMB. Honestly, everything is so good. The only reason we don't go more often is because it's not super close.
