Thank you everyone for your comments last time! I had so much fun putting this together. Special shoutout to Jannica and all of you who suggested that I give this Studio Ghibli foods cooking challenge a try ❤️ Leave a comment below to let me know what other cooking challenges you want to see! ALSO - since a lot of you have been asking, the link for where to buy the ramen I used for Ponyo, and the candy from Grave of The Fireflies is now up in the video description!!
How about the next time you make some of your favourite foods that makes you nostalgic. Maybe something from when you were young and it still holds a lot of significant or a Hong Kong staple? :)
During the lock down in Norway, me and my boyfriend had special "food trips" every week. We "travelled" to France, Japan, Greece, the US, Spain, Italy. For our France day we started with a croissant, had crepes and mussels. We even "dressed up" : it was pouring rain outside, but we wore our most summery closes, and some sunscreen (for the whole experience). It was so much fun! Maybe this is something you could do too. 24h of one country
I’m surprised, it’s an amazing movie. But I think people don’t really say that it’s their favourite because it’s so sad and the storyline makes people cry. Or maybe because they associate it with sadness and other happier ones come to mind first.
honestly i kinda want a part 2 of this video 😂 this was sooo good and absolutely perfect but i just know there’s a crazy amount of other dishes to make! i’ve always wanted to see someone make the fish pie from kiki’s delivery service, and also the breakfast toast from the cat returns
Fondant tip: if you need to make a hard shape out of fondant sketch it out on parchment paper then place it over the fondant and sketch it again. Then you’ll have a easy cut out line
So I found this video by looking for Studio Ghibli music to listen to in the shower, and I gotta say that you are living my dream! I have loved Ghibli films since I was little, and have always wanted to try the foods in the movies because they look so delicious! It also makes me really happy that you went for some of the lesser known Ghibli films like Grave of the Fireflies and Porco Rosso! Spirited Away, Ponyo, Totoro, and even Princess Mononoke are definitely the films the general public think of when they discuss Studio Ghibli-- with good reason (those movies certainly deserve their recognition)! But I know I'm in for a real treat when the deep cuts like GotFf, Porco Rosso, Nausica, Castle in the Sky, or Whisper of the Heart are mentioned! 💕 I will say I would have loved to have seen you recreate the breakfast Kiki has the morning she realizes she's lost her powers after getting sick, but I think you made the right choice with recreating the cake! 🍰 Although it would've been really funny to see how you would recreate and react to the herring pie from Kiki's Delivery Service! 🤣
YESSSSS I grew up on studio Ghibli as well ❤️❤️ literally my whole childhood I watched studio Ghibli over and over and even had a birthday party themed around it 😂❤️
I love this episode. I was cheering when I saw the Sakuma Drops tin. I haven't gotten the special Ghibli design but I hope to get one soon. I've made the Spirited Away buns before but I use Nutella 😉
I got a tin from Amazon, and they’re actually pretty good! :) I like them. Ooh, Nutella sounds delicious! When I first watched Spirited Away, I thought it was a big jelly doughnut. 😂
To make your chocolate flavor even more chocolate-tasting, add a teaspoon of instant espresso powder. Salt is also optional, as well as straight-up cocoa powder.
thanks for choosing one meal from spirited away but theres literally no meal from howls moving castle sad oh yea and for snack u can also choose beef jerky bc its from princess mononoke
One time I saw a candy box in the store that looked exactly like the one from The Grave Of The Fireflies. The worst part was the candy box had a picture of Setsuko on it.
When she said she was cooking Breakfast I was rooting for Howl's Moving Castle. When she said Howl's Moving Castle I CHEERED. Then she said she was gonna do something else... Not gonna lie I got sad and felt betrayed. Loved the vid still tho. Hahahaha.
Yes! I've finally heard someone saying that GoTF is their favourite Studio Ghibli film! Despite it being the most depressing one out of all the films they have produced, it remains my favourite to this day as well because of the themes in it.
8:20 honestly I tell people to watch grave of the fireflies if they feel like crying. Even tho you know the ending from the start you’re just never prepared to basically watch 2 children starve to death
Anybody who hasn't watched Studio Ghibli definitely has no idea that the magic is at a whole other level! Doesn't matter if you are 5 or 50, there will always be something for everybody ❤️
"Grave of Fireflies is my favorite Studio Ghibli film" Dude i had to get rid of my copy it depressed me so much. I think I layed in bed for a few days after that one...
I can't believe Grave of the Fireflies is your favorite Studio Ghibli movie. Don't get me wrong - it's beautifully animated and the story and characters are well developed and compelling but dear god almighty it's so gut-wrenchingly sad! I've seen it a grand total of once and I don't think I can watch it again. It's right up with with Sophie's Choice on the list of movies I can't ever watch again because it's a sucker-punch to my feels.
