Puddin you might want to put the merch portion up front with a roll up door for shipping and receiving. Plus you would have a direct route from the shop to your office and putting the roll up door on the front of the addition would look better from the house and make the building more symmetrical from the front for a better look.
Yeah, office in the back. You will probably wanna put in a minisplit AC unit, and it would be hidden in the back. Garage door in the front, to be able to back in the yeehawl to load/unload.
Yeah that’s a good idea, works well for loading and unloading of the merch, I was also thinking if he set the two sheds back far enough and added another concrete pad so they sat side by side, after the merchandise is moved over to the new building he could utilize those two sheds for storing small parts like carburetors or intakes, nuts and bolts. And that would still leave a lot of room for metal racks
Lots of good ideas here, Puddin! But is your vision. Seeing you achieve your dreams it is why we keep tuning in! Stay humble and keep being you. Everyone is cheering for you!
As tall as the building would be you could mezzanine a 2nd floor & double your square footage fairly cheap. I was curious if you plan on having a parts room & a clean room inside the shop for building engines & transmissions. If you don't plan on having one inside the shop, you could always widen the concrete pad on the end of the shop & turn the merch buildings into a clean room & possible parts room. You could cut a door at the end of the shop & face the small buildings against the shop so you could access the buildings from inside the shop. Put them in the far right rear corner, that way you could still use the front area for outside storage like you already planned on doing. If you do plan on putting a 2nd floor whether it's a traditional floor or mezzanine, you could put in a 4'x4' or 5'x5' lift (like an open elevator) to be able to store heavy objects upstairs & keep it out of your way downstairs in the shop. I worked in the parts department for a Jeep, Chrysler & Dodge dealership for 16 years & we had one & it was so nice being able to get heavy or bulky items upstairs on the mezzanine. This is what is so nice about what you are doing. You can design & build whatever you want within reason. Thanks for sharing your plans with us & I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do. Y'all definitely deserve everything good that is happening and will happen in the future!!
Make the concrete pad look like an old school, 50's gas station. Big ol' Puddin's Fab Shop neon sign and all! A pair of vintage pumps at the front of the pad would look awesome.
I think I'd put the merch side at the front portion of the addition. That way if you wanted to go to the office area or restroom from the shop you don't have to cut through the merch area or go outside.
If you haven’t thought about it, keep in mind a place to do your pressure washing and drainage for that area. Also maybe some kind of shade structure over the concrete area between buildings, it’s gonna get hot in there since it will be sheltered from any breeze.
If you add on to that shop make sure there’s someplace for all that rainwater to go. This is usually the first thing everyone forgets until they get that first frog choker. A 30x60 shop produces about 1100 gallons of runoff per inch of rainfall.
@@madmex2k yes, I know. But does that mean they wouldn't like a space to themselves? Not in the house, where they can just "get away"? Or turn up their music or watch their shows or ... Twas just a suggestion from a guy who has raised many teenage girls. Like Puddin himself, I'm a stepfather.
Sleeperdude is building a 120ft shop. You're on the right track Puddin...Im just ready for you to been in the new location and to finally finish that darn wagon lol
I really like your horseshoe building idea. All the little perks - more space, prettier face, the Puddin' stuff courtyard, etc - sum up to a whole way more than their parts. Keep working that plan cause it's worth it.
Puddin, this is awesome. You’re making your dream come true, and it’s inspiring. So glad that you are able to pursue your goals. And being able to provide wonderful content for many people
Do'nt forget going vertical. A couple more feet of height could double your useable space. Upstairs storage & guest space. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
I would swap the merch and office. For 2 reasons. 1. You can easily walk from the office to shop . 2. Bathroom would also be usable for shop since u only have the one. 3. It would also seperate the merch from the shop. Dang. Thats 3
What you are doing is called “external processing”. That means talking through your ideas to make sure they work. You have a good decision making process. 👍 Keep the merch flowing and thanks for the good content.
That’s going to be pretty cool… and in between the two big parts of the shop you could put up a big awning so you could do stuff outside with out being rained on or burnt up by the sun
Put the roll up shed on the concrete pad, flush with the end of the shop. Then put the merch shed on a block foundation off of the concrete pad and facing the roll up shed. Then you'll have that 6 or whatever feet of concrete between the two for access. Plus easy vehicle access for Ship & Rec. When the addition is done, just push the roll up to it's Hush House position, the renovate the other into 'Puddin's Nap Shack & Snack Shop' or whatever. P.S. I'm holding out for a possible 'Shit The Bed' T-Shirt - C'mon!
No harm in letting us know how your doing brother, you deserve whatever you decide, we are all proud of you. The other thing to think about, every improvement you make, you are building home equity with a new house , pond, workshop and storage buildings, landscaping it all increases the property value greatly, a sound investment for you and family's future Steel buildings of all sizes can be ordered color coded and fully fabricated on site in 2-3 days, all you need is a concrete slab. A quick google search showed all that you spoke of is available or somewhat close to your area or maybe its closer to Mortske. Best wishes, Good luck Puddin and congrats in all your endeavors.
For doing an addition, do a bi-level setup. Keep the bottom for project parking only and upper for all merchandise. Everything stays clean and the rest is for work.
Don’t worry about naysayers Puddin. The difference between your channel and other RU-vid car shows is we get to know you. It’s like watching your buddies’ show. Not just the same ole make it run show over and over. Keep up the good work.
Some will say "you already have a sweet setup", but I say.... "Do whatever you want!!!" Good for you man! Couldn't have happened to a better guy/family! Love all the content on both channels!
Build a sauna and a cold plunge in the gym. Trust me, it’s way better having it than not. The health benefits from both will help your measly 20 minute workout 😝 Love you Puddin’. I’m so glad to see you always pushing forward. I look at that 50k subscriber tshirt pretty often and it inspires me.
I suggest flipping the merch to the front of the expansion since load/unload to any front driveway/etc. will be more important than where the office goes. Roll up door and man door access to each if you want, but keep that merch easy to load! Thanks for the update Puddin!
@@user-427.commodore disagree from a functionality standpoint. The merch requires more big door and driveway access than an office ever would. From the outside they will look the same.
Great video as always Sir. Congratulations on the expansion of the shop. Love the drawings. If you covered the area in between the two larger😮 shops, you could do even more business, while staying out of the elements. Congratulations again on your continued success 👍🏻
Layout your plan for the new shop on the floor of the old one with tape. May give you a better idea of how big the 30x30 office will be. And if that’s enough for the merch. Also may not want the garage door all the way to the back wall Incase there are shelves on the back wall in the merch area
Keep talking brother!!! Your journey towards your dreams is inspirational and your words are informational and both are helping this 58 year old man see how a modern entrepreneur builds his empire cuz I never had anyone to show me how to do this... Thanx for sharing and I'll keep watching ✌️😎👍
These videos are the reason I watch specific youtubers. Stuff like this is the same thing I do wondering around my shop and back yard, they make you a "real" person and relatable. Not just some dude on youtube building a new shop so you can work on your Lambo or something
i enjoy these vids as it shows how you want puddin inc to evolve ,it makes us the puddin crew feel involved to a certain extent but keep up the fantastic vids sir
You need to add lime to your lawn. Balance out or basically drop the acid level in the lawn, and those stickers will not grow. That's MinnesotaFats tech tip of the day. 😉
I do appreciate your transparency and your transparency is motivating. I’m almost twice your age trying to grow a channel. Keep being yourself. We appreciate it. BTW love my new sausage wagon shirt. Ontario Canada here.
I have been watching for a while, first time commenter. I am excited to watch your content concerning the addition, as I am with all your content on both of your channels. I am in my early 40’s and I use to work and fix everything, until my back gave out on me….waiting now on my 5th surgery. I say that to say this, it is a true blessing to look forward to enjoying your content….. I laugh my head off and admittedly cry tears of joy with you on those days you have. I know we don’t know each other from Adam, but I just wanted to say a big thank you! May God bless you and your family, I pray the best for you all.
My free vote is put a carport roof over the long narrow concrete pad. That way the weather is kept off the "stuff" you store there. Can't wait to see the mezzanine built, you could have a 8' whiteboard to draw on.
I know fires are rare, but is a fire suppression/sprinkler system a possibility? It sucks to see car guys (like Brent at Halfass Kustoms) lose everything to a shop fire. When I watch guys like Mike Finnegan, I can't help but think how much worse it would be since it's attached to his house! Anyway, sorry for the negativity. Good luck with your expansion!
You give folks hope that they can venture out & grow a small business. It’s awesome to have watched you build everything. Best of luck & God bless yall
You are an impressive person and I appreciate you showing your thought process. Glad to hear it comes from a place of wanting to help and not from a place of needing approval. Stay gangster dude.
Make the old sheds stick off the cement pad like a deck. Put them on some 4x4s and pylons next to each other towards the front. Keep the pad wide open. Then you can have the whole pad to store stuff towards the back until you get the addition figured out. It’s looking sweet man. Stoked for you and your family. I need an emotional support shop. It seems therapeutic.
Nice that you're thinking about the future when you're in the process of building lot of people don't do that hopefully everything goes well keep the videos coming
I agree with the U shape, since you’re going create a private stage in the middle to shoot your videos. It also keeps you out of the wind and gives privacy as well.
Keep in mind, the more structures and square footage under air you put on the property is going to raise your property taxes !! As always Thanks for another , Brother !!
I sure hope I’m wrong but I don’t think I’d bank on the RU-vid thing being around in 2 decades. I honestly think like everything else the fad is going to wear off and/or be replaced with something new and more exciting to people. Influencers should probably think more like Garrett Mitchell aka cleetus McFarland and invest in another business to fall back on. If I were you puddin I think I would focus more on building more restorods and create a business of building and selling them. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think RU-vid is going to remain a viable business in the future. Also you can’t bank on future generations wanting to watch you work and buy your merch. Please don’t take this as me being a troll or hater. I want nothing more than for you to keep thriving but history has proven everything that is a fad so to speak fades out. I’m a huge puddin fan and I want the best for you and your family but please think about another business to have just in case you need it.
Hit the nail on the head. We all fucking absolutely love this guy….but he’s setting himself up to pay the piper. Like my pap always told me “don’t let the bank smack your fingers off your billfold when you reach in your pocket” Rules to live by. Which I have.
When you give us insights about the shop and your new property, it isn't revealing to much, it is inspiring and it gives us more idea about who you are and reminds us you are human and not just a voice behind a camera.
Thanks for takn' us on the ride with you! Virtually riding shot-gun is really cool. As you said, you could have left us all in the dark and just did what ya did. Thanks for including your fans!
Drainage!!! Not trying to rain on the parade but I don't see any gutter system on the shop and having a third rooftop worth of rain water draining down on to your hidey hole might get to be to much. Ask the builders about drainage solutions when you get your quotes!
I'm not sure of your monthly debt service with the new property and house, but I would be cautious. I never like to deflate anyone's dreams or plans however it's important to consider the "what-ifs". I've been caught a few times after the carpet was pulled out from under me and the money no longer came in. Even if you have the means - there still are risks. No harm planning but please keep in mind that bad things happen - even to the best people. I'm not sure how much buildings cost where you live. Here costs are crazy. It's easy to spend money but not so easy to recover when all of a sudden there is none. I'll bet that 20--30 years from now things will be quite different. I only write this because I care and enjoy your videos. My "what if" turned out to be cancer and I can't work that much anymore.
