Hello everyone! In the beginning of 2022, I challenged myself to create 100 gouache studies of scenes from some of my favorite movies, TV shows, RU-vid channels, and more. I’m so thrilled to announce that I finally achieved that mountain of a goal this month, and in today’s video I’ll be sharing my biggest sketchbook tour yet. cool! that's quite the task. I'm new to painting and always struggle to find things to paint. I dislike doing landscape photos, but this challenge seems cool! I may take it on if I have time! I made a list of your themes in case anyone else wants to do the challenge. I see some people doing the 100 Pantone Postcard challenge, but this one seems better. You are adorable and I absolutely love your positivity! I don't think you know how amazingly talented you really are. You're on RU-vid, when in reality you should be over at Pixar or Disney or whatnot. You may want to get some wax on those pages, traditional gouache tends to stick together over time and it would be an absolute tragedy if you lost the art in that book! Loved looking at all of these beautiful scenes! I guess I didnt realize that us artists are allowed to paint scenes from movies (as practice). Although I have seen a few other people who have painted Bilbo's house (which of course is very popular). But this is a wonderful idea to try!! I have started drawing houses in my area (that I photograph first) and then draw + color in. I see now I can expand on that to stuff from movies too so I can expand what I draw (because obviously stuff in your own area is limited). This is a great idea! I know so far I am good at drawing houses but lousy at drawing people (especially faces) but this lets you practice all sorts of stuff. I will try this!

I love painting and drawing but I haven't painted very much in the last several years. Seeing you do the amazing gouache studies helps me to feel better about the studies I do. You are really good at what you do 😀 i wonder how you mix so many colors with just the primaries? Would love to know some tips for color mixing 😀

Thank you so much!! 💛 When working with primaries, the quality of paint really matters. I use Winsor and Newton gouache which mix well together without muddying up my colors! I have a series of videos on gouache basics for beginners which goes into more detail about gouache brands and color mixing. But I’m hoping to create a more in-depth color mixing video soon!! 💛

Thank you!! 💛 Most of the scenes I gathered from a website called Animation Screencaps. I’d search which movie I wanted to study from, then scroll through the screencaps to find the right shot. 😊 I’m working on making a Pinterest board of all the themes + screencaps I used!
