Hey ! Hoping you found this enjoyable! This took a looot of time, so leave a like if you liked it (or otherwise if you didn't)! Have a great week, and we'll be back with another project very soon!
Martina: "I've never painted realistic flames....wish me luck." Next 2 minutes of video, a masterclass in painting realistic flames.... Amazing job guys!
I talked with an artist who makes some of the most realistic fire, she told me how she does it. Her dad was a Firefighter, and when she asked him about fire, he told her that it has more properties in common with a liquid than anything else. Once she took that to heart she started drawing/painting fire and it became so good.
GIRL YOU NAILED IT. YOU NAILED IT SO HARD. P.S.--As an artist, I feel the need to recommend a final coat of glaze/finish/protector over the entire painting to help it last longer. I'm personally a fan of Liquitex finishes, but no matter what you use, please protect this work of art. It's seriously amazing ♡
The horns honestly look too much like huge cheeks, there's no color/shading distinction, otherwise it looks great. I would just recommend she fixes that part.
Yes, there are glazing products that will not only protect the paint in a general sense but also from fading from sunlight. As soon as I saw the window letting all that natural light into the office, it was the first thing I thought of. It would be a crying shame if it faded just because of sunlight.
Outstanding. Simply, breathtaking! The dragons face, especially the eyes, are unbelievable! The way you shaded them, your use of color to make it looks as if the eyes themselves are lit with fire... Just insane! Gorgeous work!!
Hey Martina! You outdid yourself on this. I slowed down the video all the way so I could see the layering techniques you used in the fire and clouds and also how you based all of your shading on the direction of the light source. I learned so much from this video. Thank you!
This is epic. I love it ♥️. My 12 that's old son watching this video said:"I don't know why are so many known artists that aren't as good as this girl".
This is incredible Martina! Everything in the painting looks wonderful together, the light effect is just WOW, congratulations on this amazing project!
Found your channel late, obviously so I'm commenting way afterward I'm struggling because I don't want to seem petitist about this, but you lass are one purple package of awesome! The courage to go into that mouth with the objective of painting realistic fire, fire building, rather than just exploding outward - wow The clouds - wow - masterclass You know that hero figure standing before the dragon without giving in to fear is you don't you! you should give her a hint of purple to her hair - seriously VERY cool work, sheer artistic courage, being brave is feeling the fear and doubt and doing it anyway, you nailed it
Martina: "I usually paint hot rod flames and not realistic ones, wish me luck!" Also Martina: paints the most EPIC dragon fire buildup ever. Just WOAH!
I really love the way you work with light and fire and shadows. It's so realistic and dynamic and I'm just so amazed with the skill and talent in all your work!
Those eyes are amazing. I absolutely love the little things you did to for lighting the whole scene. The way the sun shines through the clouds in rays like that, diffusing and reflecting on the scales gives it a whole different level of realism. And those eyes. Did I mention the eyes? What about the eyes, have I mentioned how awesome they are enough? The way the scales around the eyes reflect that orange glow looks breathtaking! Seriously incredible job on it.
oh holy shit martina, this looks AMAZING!!!!!!! i really love how the entire face of the dragon turned out, the glowing effect on the eyes especially!!! and the fire!!! your painting skills are really amazing!!!
Young Lady, do not ever doubt yourself. Your talent is amazing. You're fire effects are outstanding, and the decision to add the second layer of clouds really made the whole picture pop. I really hope someone in an Fantasy area of entertainment/production sees this. You deserve to be employed by the best. Awesome Work, keep it up.
JeepMan365 I totally agree that her art is both stunning amazing, but I think you underestimate Martina’s current ‘employment’. Take a look at the list of patrons, especially the new patrons on each video. Patrons are supplying full ‘employment’ here, and even better, full artistic independence.
@@esalenchik I understand, and I am glad that she has people that support her. I was only wishing/hopeing that she could get noticed by some of Bigger names/organizations in the industry. She deserves to be recognized for her talent.
I love the job you did here! I've done huge walls and it's hard! The dwarfs were bigger than me! Great job! For blending colors better, making colors fade, I keep a spray bottle of distilled or filtered water, minus the chemicals of faucet water, and spray a fine mist of water, using a clean, damp, soft bristled brush, and tap the painting with the bush tips. I hold the brush straight up and down and usually use at least a 2 or 3 inch wide house painting brush... More jab at it...as well as using the brush as intended . It's great to keep extra brushes handy to always have a clean brush to use... The water helps to give almost an air brushed texture.
This mural came out absolutely stunning. I'm constantly impressed by the straight up talent you possess for painting. Very minor suggestion, I only mention this because of all of the brilliant work you put into your lighting, had you considered adding a bit of translucency to the webbing of the wings? Basically where the thinnest parts of the wing membrane you might see that kind of pink glow through from the intensity of the light breaking through the clouds. It's a very, very minor thing to suggest, you definitely do not need to even consider it but with all of the attention to detail you put into this work it seems like a minor adjustment like that would really amp up the amazing work youve already done
I’m super new to your channel (like yesterday new) so I’m bingeing all of your content. I just have to say you are both amazing people and your art is super inspiring. I stopped creating art a long time ago because I let life get in the way. I’m definitely inspired to start again. Thank you. Hugs to you and everyone here💕✨
13:25 I remember the birth of the internet in the nineties, this kind of direct interaction, wholesome communities (like this one and the one for Wintergatan) was one of our dreams back then. It took 25 years, but, here we are and I am always touched by it. Love from the Netherlands!
Wow! It’s fantastic. I was amazed when I saw the close up of the eye. The fire, the lighting, the clouds, everything was great. I would love to have this in my house.
Martina, This is so amazing to see the process you take to create such a wonderful showcase. You are so talented. We must not overlook the beautiful editing with the music on the reveal either! i was very entertained and my heart swelled at the reveal at the end. Best to you both.
The final result gave me literal chills… absolutely breathtaking. It’s so awesome to watch you work, Martina, as an artist it makes me want to do bigger and more ambitious projects. Keep it up, it’s so cool to watch your talent at work!
This is so awesome, and completely unlike any other wall mural I’ve seen done on RU-vid! I especially loved the billowing flames on the tower spires, and the epic clouds and light shining down from the sky - but all of it is amazing - SO. FREAKING. COOL!!!! 😁👍 Well done!
The sheer scale of this undertaking is astounding and you completed it with an incredible exhibition of grace and talent. Do not sell yourself short, you do have an amazing amount of skill but also that rare ability to put down what you see in your mind's eye. The breadth of the colors and the beautiful lighting values are truly breathtaking, and the flames seem as though they might leap, sparks and all, from your wall. A magnificent piece of artistry any nerd would be proud to own a print or poster of, and there it is, it's history forever engraved into your home!
Wow! 😮 I am blown away at how amazing this is! And girl I feel u on the flames...I did a much smaller scale of a firetruck with flames in the background, for a commission piece, and it was SO hard to get realistic flames. U absolutely nailed it! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I know a lot of professional painters that do their colors "cell" style then blend the edges with an airbrush. I've never personally seen the technique demonstrated, but I have heard it described as a blending technique quite a few times over the years. With acrylic, I'd imagine you'd just need the right reducer. I've only airbrushed with paints made for airbrush, but, again, I've seen Golden brand airbrush reducer for acrylic paints. Never used it though. Might be too much effort for the underpainting stage, though. I'm babbling. Just a thought, though. I've been a fine artist for over 25 years, but I'm not ashamed to admit your skills far exceed my own. All of your projects just absolutely blow me away. That dragon mural is amazing. And I think you nailed the fire.
You guys are such a power team it's just amazing, I've been watching for about a year and I'm always amazed about how cool and unique the projects are that you come up with, how you execute on them, how you are able to solve problems on the fly, and then create an entertaining video no matter what. When I saw the title for the van painting I thought 'well they're good, but not sure you can make that entertaining...' and you did. So I didn't hesitate to watch this one, and WOW. Also I love that you used the projector to mark it out...I think that's a killer tip others can use for doing wall murals for kids walls and such. Well done, love the editing, and appreciate the insane amount of work you put into each video. Thankyou!
This brings back memories. Back in college, some of the guys in my dorm painted a giant X-Men mural. It was exciting to see every new addition appear, and when it was done, it gave me something more interesting to look at than the drab, claustrophobic walls.
Thank you, Martina, for inspiring me to finally work on a story I've been wanting to do for a long time. Your image gave me the motivation I've needed and your work in general I find to be very charming and inspiring. You actually got me into bookbinding, so thanks for that.
Brilliant, I love seeing ideas and techniques I've never thought of before. Flicking the brush to create burning embers is a great small detail that creates an amazing overall scene.
I was just thinking about this in the shower and had to come back to comment. PLEASE go over the wall mural with the neon blacklight and glow in the dark paint! I'm picturing it in my head and it looks AMAZING!
I just startet my work as an art teacher in a high-school and have to say you two creative people are a good inspiration for my work in some cases:) My students love it, when i show them some content from your channel. Keep it this way and you will become the next Bob Ross! We need kind and nice couples like you on RU-vid! Xoxo from Germany:)
The music when painting the dragon's eye is amazing and so fitting for such a fearsome-looking dragon! I love how its eyes glow! And the way you did the flames! DAMN!!! I love this!!!
All that practice in the cabin paid off big time! I'm super impressed with your artistry; the shading and lighting is so, so good! 👏😊 And the clouds are wonderful, excellent choice!
idk why but this painting made me so emotional. Im just like, look at that lil' dude go! You got this, standing there with your unwavering confidence , not even bothering to hide behind a shield while this giant, fire breathing dragon is coming straight at you! You dont even have your sword at the ready...youre just gonna wing it. Im super proud of that lil' dude right now.
I love speed art videos. More, please. I recommend making a mousepad with that image and selling it in your merchandise shop. You could even do T-shirts and other things with it. A white and a black longsleeve or hoodie with that image and something on the sleeves would be awesome.
Just wow. I found your channel from your book-binding videos, and other the years I realized you are both such multi-talented people, but this video blew me away. You are an amazing painter and you should do more painting videos in the future. Congrats for the amazing painting and for the awesome flame effects.
This is so amazing.. the clouds, the fire.. the eyes are so realistic. Smaug would be scared of this dragon..or in love..depending.. To be able to see what you want.. and execute it nearly perfectly is a rare gift..
Oh my gosh, the paintings evolution, the anticipation of if its going to work out, the music, its literallt got me crying over here 🤣😭 tears of joy because its amazing watching how youre literally making the dragon, the burning castle, the hero, come to LIFE!!!!! like YOU have made them exist!!! And its so beautiful!!!
Can't help myself feel pity of that warrior.. considering the sheer size of that dragon. If I was the guy there, I would be like "oh shit, I miscalculated the size of the dragon, "it's just an A-rank mission they say, and I get an S rank mission when I'm not an S rank Adventurer, JUST MY *censored* luck!"
...Every one of your artistic endeavors includes a "I suck at this" and "I'm so concerned I'm going to ruin this", but you always, ALWAYS knock it out of the park. I get being your own worst critic, but many of us would give our non-dominant arm to be able to have the skill and consistency that you have...don't sell yourself short
@@YouHolli as an artist, its because when you appreciate your paintings, you need to decide to improve it or not because its beautiful enough but it has more potential, also afraid of ruining the whole effort. its feels like betting money, you will win with so much money(MarvelousPaint) or you will lose all your money (Ruined Paint).
For someone who hasn’t painted “real” fire before, this is absolutely stunning! I’m so glad to see that you’re painting allot more after you doing your painting getaway documentary! Glad to see that spark of creativity spreading like wildfire! This Channel is super inspiring and always get exited when something new is uploaded! ❤️🌱 xxxxx
First time I saw this it reminded me Glorfindel fight with balrog in Fall of gondolin. I was so happy to see it, even the tower in background is literally like in the book, Gondolin destroyed and Glorfindel fights balrog on the hill. Love it
I wish I had just half your talent, Martina ! Your painting skills are just amazing, and I love your sense of humor as well, I laugh every video I watch. Keep it on, you rock it ! Kisses from France
I know this is an older video(but I only found your channel a few weeks ago) but I had to say this is amazing! I've always known artists build their colours up in layers, but seeing it in this kind of detail is fascinating. Wonderful detail and skill!
You guys are talented in everthing. This paint is so magical to look. Because I watch you for a long time, I am like a proud mama. Everything that you made is just so beautuful. Keep goinggg. Love u guys🤸♀️❤❤
