Love it! Did this to my $30 thrifted tufted sofa and it worked great. I sealed it with wax and it was soft but a little more like leather or vinyl feeling. When we screened in our porch I put it out there and it works perfectly! The wax makes the fabric stain, mold, and mildew resistant. Almost like outdoor furniture!

Heirloom Traditions paint is great for painting upholstery. It goes on smoothly and has great coverage.

for the condition of it and the fabric intact.. The set was free. That’s a french provincial. Easily worth $500 and up in the state she got it.

Super fun! Definitely will need an update on the wear and tear with littles. Loved the color too and think it would look very French it you painted the wood a distressed white. 😘 Très chic, bravo.

Your little helpers, so sweet. So blessed. I love how they turned out. I tried this on a foot stool. I wish I'd had your video at the time. Once it dried and i could still see the previous color, I figured I had did it wrong. And I gave up...maybe too soon. Thank you for sharing this.

Ahhhh I would’ve thought the same !! Would’ve never in a million years thought about the “soaking in” factor and the necessary water, etc. Maybe it’s still not too late for you to “fix” it now ??

Thanks so much! I am inspired...I have an almost 30 year old traditional sectional in a tapestry which could easily last 200 years but I am tempted now to create a different look in my family room. At least, you've given me something to think about!!!

Who would have thought of painting your upholstery?? WOW, my first thought was paint flaking off and rubbing off on your clothes as I had never heard of this before. Random idea you may have thought of already. What if you reupholstered the back, bottom. and cushion in a similar color, dream velvet? Basically reupholster the 'easy' parts, and leave your cool, painted area where it's the complicated back with buttons. Think the two materials would look amazing.

I think it's fabulous, see if scotch guard will work over it. Best DIY , I have gray velvet chesterfield couches and have not seen any of these cool antiques in my area. I just love my couches. Those couches are amazing, and what a deal 🙋🏻

Such gorgeous furniture! I was given a similar style sofa by my sister but the upholstery was very pale and tired. I painted it light green. It's not perfectly even but it has a timeworn look that fits it and my decor, so I was cool with it. It is just slightly not quite right but I don't care. This is sooo gorgeous!

Hi Lisa your hair looks awesome I don’t know if it’s cause it’s longer or what. The couch set is awesome and your painting is beautiful. I don’t mean to be mean but the pillows seem too casual to me. It seems you need to make something new. The pillows would be for a farmhouse style couch but these couches are feminine to me. Maybe it’s just me. But I sure love everything you do.

Lisa it looks amazing love the colour. I recently painted a lampshade in white chalk paint, it was old and dingy looking and was floral. When I put it on it covered really well you couldn't see anything. I put it back on my lamp switched it on and to my amazement the outline of them flowers showed through. I could not be happier it is beautiful. I get so many compliments on it and its unique XXX

I bought a similar couch-mine is from the late 50's or early 60's, french country style. My plan is to do the same, using Annie Sloan's paint but I haven't decided yet if I want to redo the wooden trim/legs or paint it also. Yours turned out so well. It's gorgeous. You could use the couch and chair and put the loveseat (or chair) in your bedroom. Great job as always! ❤️. (Edit: uh-oh, commented before I watched the entire video! 😊)

These were such a great score Lisa. I wondered if you had watched Debi’s tutorial and then you said it 😂. I have thought about doing doing this myself as well. Perhaps one day. Folkart and Waverly chalk paints are inexpensive and can work for this, but I’m like you, if I’m going to do this I might as well buy the “good stuff”. 😉💕

I've been on the fence about trying this. My couch is close to 30 years old. Good bones for sure. The arms on the couch and over sized chair have lost all their padding and are quite thin. So painting wouldn't work. You always do such nice work. And what a deal you got here. I love that style of furniture. What weight of drop cloth do you buy? Watching your videos has really inspired me to do diys again. You are so blessed with your lovely family and so smart about living debt free. You really have inspired this old gal. Thank you so very much.

Your pieces came out so lovely! Great job especially first time doing it....Debi’s design diary DIY paint is so pigmented you def would save $$ on paint bc even though it’s watered down ...still so pigmented! One other trick is to take a sanding block over each coat to soften it up ( except for last coat..also a misting bottle is better then spray water bottle...they sell on Amazon cheap....I got 3 large size for like 17 bucks ( one for my hair, one for hubbys hair and one for painting...,you did a great job....thank you for sharing😊k new subscriber here...looking forward to binge watching your videos!

I chalk stained a cream and floral sofa black and it took 2 cans of Annie Sloan graphite mixed with 2 jars of India ink and I did wax it. It’s held up for 5 years

I love this and the color is perfect! I have 2 love seats and a chair, very similar color, and was ask 1500. to have them covered, just for labor. This may be the way for me to go. Please do an update. Your boys are precious by the way.

In Europe, we have Gamma Chalk paint : 18 EUR for 500ml. It is the cheapest. Diluted with equal quantity of water, you get 1 liter of paint.

I am amazed!! I have done a lot of upholstery over the years. To recover your three pieces of furniture would have been a huge undertaking with all the buttoning and with everything else you have going on I think you would have lost the will to live😂😂. I think it looks great and with six children the furniture is not as precious as it would have been if you had re-upholstered it.
