Suzuki GS550 Build Project.
In this video I finish the multi-tone paint job. It about 3 months from start to finish. This is a major step forward in the build, but we're not finised yet!

Man, if that's what your first paint job looks like, I want to see how the next one turns out!

Turned out great man. I do not have a dedicated painting space too it's really hard to do paint jobs as good as you've done. Congratulations

Looks good. You picked a complicated design for the first time. Go big or go home. : ) I did my first paint job recently. I used rattle cans. It actually turned it pretty good, for a first timer. Like you, I had problems removing the tape. In a couple spots it pulled off some paint despite all of the prep work I had done. My tank was black and white with gold pin stripes separating the colors. Now I know why people say black can be the hardest color to use. It really shows mistakes. If I could do it again, I would do some wet sanding (with 1000 grit or so) on the black paint before laying down the clear coat. I watched a lot of videos and I didn't see anyone wet sand paint then go right to clear coat, so I just wasn't sure if that was a good idea. Now I'm convinced it would have given me a smoother finish in the end.

Hehe indeed. I like to go ”all out” the first time I do something, then I know where to draw the line the next time I do it. I never painted anything with large black sufaces, but I can imagine. I think that there’s no problem sanding a solid 2k paint before clear, it’s prolly recommended. But a waterbased metallic I think you’re not supposed to sand, it destroys the effect.
