Good job man, I painted my Bronco myself and it is unreal how much work it is. Anyone that has ever painted a car themselves and did it right will never question body shop prices again.
I worked in a body shop, most the plastic I’ve ever used does that, never use the plastic on something that’s going to get heavy overspray like windows always paper them. Keep up the great work.
Love the content man, this is more of the build style I’m leaning towards that I see on RU-vid a lot of guys like to skip processes or just not describe what’s going on.
You probably dont give a damn but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me
@Ishaan Titus thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Austin Niemela Looks awesome. My heart sunk when I saw that door paint pulled off. You are definitely not afraid of work. I just did my 1st paint job ever in an enclosed canopy the yard on my 1990 4x4 extended cab with an Earlex 5500 HVLP spray station. Surprisingly it came out really good, except only about 70% of the clear is good. The rest needs a heavy cut and buff, or maybe a 1500/2000 block and respray. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. Your channel really helped a lot. cheers.
You have to change the plastic every time...otherwise the dried paint will flake off like it did...or you can just cover it over with new plastic...I had to learn this the hard way too years ago lol. You need a fan to suck out the over spray! All that over spray will dull your paint. Runs on metal flake are a pain in the arse to get sanded out/buffed because the metal flake will look different/blotchy. Plus, when using a strong metal flake, hold the gun further away from the surface...it will blend much better...especially using a silver metal flake....
Extremely nice work. Have you considered adding an exhaust fan with louvers to your shop? You can make the window pane (in the background above your truck) smaller and build a frame for a fan next to it. On the opposite side of the shop, build a frame for air condition filters over a window. This will give you cross-low ventilation. I built a similar setup with a 7000 cfm 30" fan for my garage when I painted in it before I built my shop.
Nice paint job on the Toyota. I've built three Toyota trucks in my younger years.lol My first was a 1981 Toyota, regular cab, short bed. Number 2 was a 1981 long bed, regular cab. And number 3 was a 1980 regular cab short bed with round headlights. Number 3 was my favorite build of them all. I've been following you from the beginning off this build and can truly say thanks for sharing this with us.Great job on going into detail.👍 Love the color 👌
On a fresh run if you can catch it on time, you can take a piece of masking tape and lay it over top the run and it will flatten it out and stop it and makes it easier to sand out 👍
I've had problems shooting in a garage with no ventilation it messes up the paint job. It looks like your garage has the same problem. It might seem like the paint job came out okay but if you did it in a booth or if you got a fan sucking all that over spray out your paint job would come out a lot better
I also work in a paint and panel shop, so awesome too see you smashing that whole job out yourself. Wet sand out that run and give it a cut and polish and it’ll be 100% perfect bro!!! Mad props for doing it all at home 🤘🏼
Good job man! I'm no painter by all means but i did know a guy who always wet his floor down with water to hold any particles and keep some dust at bay.
waooo my brother very good job congratulations I do not miss the videos very interesting work techniques. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, friend. God bless you take care 😎👊👍
I am glad to hear your new to painting! I am planning to Paint my Double Cab Hilux, and seeing how good your truck looks give me hope. All the painting I have done has been on some Motorcycles.
man, you did an AMAZING job for a first time paint. I've been contemplating repainting my 06 corolla just for the practice (shes an 800k mile beater. no harm if i screw up) and this video is making me really think i'll be doing this once i have some room to.
Never lay plastic down without a paper barrier around the edges the paint will fly off the plastic and getting your paint, paint does not stick to plastic like it does to paper
Please to a 4 runner build next 🙏🏼, I’ve got a factory turbo diesel surf in NZ would love too see a build for some inspiration. Love this pickup build.
you got less grit in that paint than some paint booth paint jobs i've seen. I'm really surprised because you didn't put water on the floor. I would start on fixing the smaller run first to see how the clear sands/scrapes down. I've had pretty good luck scraping them down with a brand new utility knife blade and then block it. But you have to make sure the clear is fully hard before you start scraping
Well done brilliant job , the old toy will look better than new , good to see finished , I had one of these years ago , enjoyed this , , , grant New Zealand
super good job, especially when it is done by a passionate and a good worker. super bon travail, surtout quand il est fait par un passionné et un bon travailleur.
Looking great, I've saved all your videos so when I get ready to do my Taco I'll go back and review. Mine is going to be a lot less critical it's all going to be in flat with no gloss and I'm going to be using a airbrush for the majority of the paint. Again great job, I'm pumped to see it out on the road when you get it all back together.
The plastic sheeting (for painting) is marked "Paint this side" on one side of the plastic. Your problem could have come from having the wrong side facing outward. Looks good. God bless and stay well.
I’m a painter at our shop I paint my 92 pickup about three years ago yours looks great and I’ve always tried to keep my plastic atleast a 12in from where I’m paint from it flaking off the plastic
You have taken a decent looking truck and made it into an extraordinary looking truck and all your labor I cannot see you taking this thing off road it’s way too nice to be bashing through the mud and brush and climbing it into a mountain of boulders ... I’m in awe but I would have never painted it so beautiful color... you can see a scratch 50 feet away and I would lose my mind ... also where did you get the steering wheel and did you do a video on installation of it
She turned out beautiful!!! I've never seen chip guard with texture like orange peel before. That's new to me, but I can dig it! Are you gonna paint the flatbed? I haven't watched the previous video yet so you probably already answered that question.
Amazing work , there's so much details to cover and u never did this before so truly without a doubt good damn job 👍 once a wise man told me "perfection is the enemy of good enough" really looks good 👍
auto paint plastic has one side that paint adheres to and one side that it doesnt. Itll be marked along the center, saying this side up or has the brand stamp.
Hey man I thought it would be really cool for your build of the truck put some second GEN dodge tow mirrors on your yota truck since You did diesel swap it I mean you will be able to see way more then the stock mirrors because I’ve been wanting to do it to my 99 single cab Yoda and Everybody on a Toyota group I follow on Facebook said that I would let them and you’ll be able to see all your blind parts so easily
You have a nice garage, I noticed that you covered up the bottom half of the garage walls. What happened to the rest of it. Did it ruin your walls and floor?
did you use the right masking tape? regular masking tape is a big no-no. it will pull paint off. sorry to Bogart the comments. Edit, you did great on all your work...really great...hey, don't feel bad about runs...pro's get runs all the time....really! Bad runs too! Curtains the length of the body! lol. Keep going and yes I enjoyed your videos a lot...new subscriber. Next time wet the floor...95% of dust comes from you walking around on the floor while spraying, plus the air hose dragging on the floor. I tested this once...I sprayed something in my booth with just blowing all the dust out as best I could, then the next time I wetted the floor....NO DUST with the wetted floor...none! The other? Tons of dust. peace
