Tim! thanks again for your uploads on remote ID and drone classification I definitely got a few questions on the test about it . your videos are forever in my playlist it was definitely a link into passing my test i got a 98% only missed 1 question. Next is to get the TRUST recreation ✌️✌️✌️✈️
Older people, refer to this situation as the "Slow Grind Down". This refers to the fact the practically everything is becoming more regulated, more difficult to do, less enjoyable and more expensive. When I first learn to fly radio controlled airplanes in the 1980s we went to a nice flying field in Texas with a 500 foot long concrete runway. We had ONE rule, ONE. Don't hit me with your airplane. Another item was, don't hit my car with your airplane. Although, that was not a rule, just a courtesy. I've taken the test and passed, registered with the friendly people at the FAA, I've got my AMA card, my TRUST certificate, and my FAA registration document, (that makes 3 documents I need to bring) and I'm all set to go to the flying field with my OS40 glow airplane to fly around. Remember folks, the more something is regulated the less of that thing that will be.
KL: We pretty much brought this on ourselves with the drone folks flying near commercial aircraft. Sad, but the FAA cannot afford an accident like this. Having flown the B-777F a few years ago, there is just a lot of traffic in the air these days, far more than in 1980. Good news is if one flies at an AMA club field, there is essentially no change once the TRUST test is passed and FRIA is in place, which it will be. Tim
Thanks for this heads-up video. The one question that caused me some confusion was what documents must you have available to show law enforcement if requested. I chose Trust test result only. But the answer is test result and drone registration. Well, presently I only have the Mavic Mini, and as far as I know you do not have to register it at this time (below 250 gm).
Do you have to be a member of the AMA to take the test? Thank you, I really like your channel, I get a lot of good information from you. I have a FAA # because I already registered last January, Is the test free?
@@TimMcKay56 Thank you for all that you do, I will take the test as soon as I study up so I can be a responsible RC Flyer, I have a PT40 Trainer that I have had for many years and rebuilt many times after hard landings, fly is the best part but landing is the hardest for me. I changed out the old radio, to up graded standers to get rid of the Gremlin's that I had, weird things would happen in flight but it was a old Futaba system from the 1999's non digital. Ch42 Upgrade the engine to a 60. size and add a locator system, looking forward to get it up in the air soon. Thanks
@@TimMcKay56 It took about a quarter of the time I thought it would, and was incredibly easy. If you've been flying a while, you're likely armed with all the knowledge you need already. Mr. McCay has done an outstanding job of being a front-line soldier, taking the hits so we'll know what to expect (and documenting it!), now it's time we reciprocate. Tips - Don't ever lose your Certificate. Section 1 contains all the answers needed for the questions in Section 2. You cannot fail this test - if you answer incorrectly, you will be given as many chances as you need to get it right.
Thanks for the Heads Up! I just finished the test. All common sense questions with the exception of one poorly worded question that could confuse FPV with Line of Sight. Cheers, Tim!
Fantastic information! The learning materials sound very much like the computer based training (CBT) I had during Air Force pilot training. I hope this information becomes common sense in the UAS community.
For recreational drones, the FAA registration fee is $5.00 and the registration is good for three years. Easy to renew online at www.FAA.gov You will use the same registration number for all of your recreational models. Tim
Very informative video, Tim! Thank you! I am heading over to the AMA site to take it now and get that behind me. The flight club I am a member of requires this test of all members. I see you live in Sugar Hill! I'm just down the road from you a couple of miles! I hope our paths cross someday so I can say thank you in person. And yes, I just subscribed too! :-)
