Carp Fishing: I pimped my carp barrow. In this film GP sits by a lake wondering how to overcome the problem of not putting his rod rests into the ground... So, he returns to the Totally Awesome workshop and sets about his plan to "pimp" his Carp Barrow so it can be used as a rod support, taking either rod rest or bite alarm. He then takes it off to his local lake for an afternoon to see if it would work. Not only did it do the business, but the fish turned up as well, including a specimen he was not expecting to see in his landing net...

And charge £1200 quid for it 😉. I had to laugh last week as I see him do a interview saying that the best bit of kit ever invented for carp fishing was the barrow - but I remember him using a wheelbarrow over Walthamstow Res back in 1991 ( he worked in a Bank then & would sell leads to all us others ( while pouncing hooks- tightest fucker you have EVER met) anyway he said the barrow changed the game yet its the only thing Korda do not make lol, they would only buy some TF trukka barrows bang a green sticker on it and treble the price....yep ole fanny Dairbrass was always a penny pinching fucker, no wonder he's done so well for himself ole Mr shouty "Get in " ( I've netted a 22 pounder all by myself lol)

Threads on fishing tackle are 3/8th BSF, so one of the fist things I did was to purchase the corresponding tap and die sets, now I make my own tackle, for the studding side I use 3/8 round brass bar and a 5/16 drill for the tapping hole into whatever, mind you it makes it alot easier having a lathe but it pays for itself in the long run, AND I know it is well made and will not break.

You can't beat a Graeme video. He is inventive, resourceful and humorous. The wheel Barrow conversion was superb. (having bought rod rests for concrete banks that were a pain to set up and align) You say you never caught a big roach well you have now, I am sure that would of gone 2lb plus. Nice video thanks for posting and thanks for your response to my last comment on worm protection, that had me in stiches. Currently transferring frogs spawn from a bird bath to my two ponds. They insist on spawning in the bird bath and nowhere else, the water is only 3 inches deep and dries out late spring early summer. My big question is how can one female frog lay a minimum 2lb of spawn without imploding?

I decided to make a bait tray for a rod rest last year, bought a cheap hard plastic tray from amazon for a few quid, but for the life of me could not find any nuts or bolts that were 3/8 bsf online, ((and being sold for a reasonable price)) thankfully the memory kicked in for five minutes and I remembered i'd kept the threaded parts from a couple of busted bite alarms for J.I.C. purposes, so used one of them and it worked a treat, I love McGuyvered alternatives :).

I've been using a similar idea for a few years now, but I tape lengths of hosepipe to mine for those moments when you can't get the sticks in the bank. I also use lengths of hose pipes with one end taped up to protect my rod holdall from getting holes in from the banksticks sharp end. Once again, another entertaining video, thank you.

Necessity is the Mother of invention, well done GP. Out on the bank final day today, walking, spinning drop shotting etc. No joy, traveling light so limited gear. Had some compost worms few 16 hook lengths and a lighter line on a spool for the same reel. Switched over, basic ledger with one big drop shot aka GP. Thought how do I rest the rod....what would Graeme do....eureka lashed three branch sticks together with line, mini tripod, perfect, so several perch later happy days. Great day to end the season, roll on the 16th of June.

I made something similar but attached it to the chair. So if your at a venue where you can’t have your rod rest pod close due to the size of the swim. Clamp the modified pod to my chair. On the other side with it attached by an umbrella clamp, a small platform on a pole for all my odds and ends. Works a treat if the swim is flooded

Try 1 double handfull of bran and 2 of baileys. Mix dry.damp it,mix again but allow 15 mins for the Baileys to soak up some moisture, then try making a small ball of feed..for lakes make it lighter, for fast rivers you might want a bit more Baileys to firm it up. Its all trial and error really.

I normally love the chaotic nature of these films but this one frustrated me. Munsen rings Graham. These are used by plumbers to suspend pipes and generally hold them at a certain distance from walls etc. They would have saved you from butchering your barrow & you could have had both front and back rests attached.. They only cost a couple of quid and are brilliant for attaching a variety of stuff to chairs etc.
