Fun fact: tower heroes has one april fools skin with a gun, and that is “gun wizard” also in the old days of th, half of the legendary and mythic skins was “anime, and games references.” and yes, 02 skin for scientist but during the halloween update, all of the references and anime skins were revamped to something else.
Gotta agree with John, I tried ammo tower defense and let me tell you, to call it a slog was an understatement If you had to leave in the middle of a game or lost the game, that was the worst thing to occur since it took a solid half hour to get back to where you were (or at least it felt like it). It is the cure to insomnia
@@Daniel_Look tell him that nobody knows how hard how game is to make, yes it is boring but golden skins are really just grinding hours opon hours for a tiny gameplay change, anyway it's really annoying that people complain so much about games being bad yet most couldn't make a better game
2:11 Tower Battles actually does have hard or easy maps. The shorter the track the harder the map. Tower Battles also marks the shorter tracks as harder/hard.
If anyone is wondering, Ammo Tower Defence recently had a full overhaul update, revamping everything from before adding a campaign etc. this is much much better than the previous version shown in the video (not to mention the fact that John only played the easiest game mode in the original game but welp), if anyone is looking for a new tower defence game to play i highly recommend giving the new ammo td a try
tower heroes sometimes gets player counts around 5k though and its stays around 3rd-5th place most popular in the tower defense genre. It beats most smaller tower defense games and usually beats tower battles in player count as well so I wouldn't consider it dead at all.
John, if you kept playing tower heroes you can unlock more maps the more you level up. At level 15+, you unlock your first “raid map”. These are maps when there are no set path that the enemies follow. You can place towers in the “path” of the enemies. You can also use fences, which you can use to change the route of enemies. Levelling up these is important, because stronger enemies will break fences, allowing other enemies to pass through. These maps will sometimes have multiple entrances / exits, so you will need to adapt where you place your fences, to maximise the time it takes for the enemies to reach the exit.
Have you tried tower blitz? Its a mix of old tds and new tower battles and its really fun. It recently had a major update after 4 months because the dev thought the game would die, but just a few hours ago it peaked at 4k players playing at once! The new update includes lots of really cool content.
Mechacubes is a pretty unknown but good tower defence game, along with that, theres "Tower Battles : Battlefront" that turns the origonal Tower Battles By PlanetEarth into a first / third person zombe wave survival game.
A really good game that I recommend is Tower Blitz. It’s basically TDS + Bloons Tower Defense. (I also recommend CTD, it’s basically if Critical Strike had a tower defense game)
I recommend playing zombusters(the game has daily player count of 4)and its pretty fun has a lot of enemies and towers though most are made with free models and its pretty diffucult can go 0 to 100 real quick(note its more fun late game)
Tower heroes is 100x better than tds because it gets updates frequently, devs aren't simps that make all their skins anime, ACTUALLY HAS BALANCE UNLIKE TDS, PLUS TOWER HEROES IS ORIGINAL INSTEAD OF COPYING TOWER BATTLES

Hello John, I am a moderator and tester for atd, I just wanted to let you know that I could not agree more with your rating for ammo tower defense, it was pretty bland, especially since casual mode is the most boring mode in the game, however, I just wanted to tell you the overhaul has finally been released for it. And I wanted to ask you if you wanted to try and review it again, the game itself is kinda bland for now since ammo just released it and some of the stuff has not been made yet, but it would be a pleasure if you went back to the game one more time and see your final opinion.
I loved tower heroes until got a blue screen playing it and my FPS went down to 5 at max whenever I played it, I had all the heroes for the time but now there’s actually a lot of heroes in the game
you should actually play tower heroes more, it's really fun and has a lot to it. like you said, it's very cartoony, and that is basically the only bad thing about it. pretty much like tower defense simulator but really cartoony, updates don't take years and is just genuinely fun. also it has different modes, and it also has modifiers to change your game if it gets boring. just a really good game, would actually love seeing you play more even if you don't see blood and guns being shot.
There isnt any blood in tds and also im pretty sure tower blitz has the same concept (like challenges and modes) and it has guns so i THINK he would play tower blitz instead of that cartoony game

I remember a tds game that I was addicted to that I completely forgot the name of. It was so good with naval buildings that you had to get before getting actual towers and like tons of skins and it the towers were tiny and they had PVP, it was like TDS but a lot more complicated with more buildings and stuff, if anyone knows the name of it, let me know.

It's just like a cartoony tower defense game, not a kid tds version because every tower defense games have their own characters, btw tower heroes is way better than tds because they can make updates very fast (example: weekly updates for the weekly challenges) And also they have many features which tower defense simulator doesn't. And lastly, most important.. They don't copy.
@@dxnisee_ exactly. Its a original game and the towers are unique ( like hayes ). Also if you dont completed all the maps in all dificults the game is still fun. AND lets not even talk about how balanced the game is ( except jester of course , he is just pure garbage ) Tds is just the opposite... copied tb , its not fun ( at least after hardcore update , before it was fun ) EXTREMELY unbalanced , generic zombies game , devs promising something they cant do in time ( delays ) and many outher things
@@Norwaayy one thing I’ll have to disagree with is the balancing, they’ve nerfed a ton of towers, 2 of the most bullied towers being byte and wafer, wafer got buffed and then got nerfed after some time

6:50 at like 2020-2021 chef had a knife but then they removed it because it seemed to much violence but now and wafer (Christmas hero) has a gun on lvl 3-4 like a candy gun also yaskue has a katana for replacement for chefs knife
