Probably in the minority here, but the sluggish soloing experience, long and frequent rests, and grindy leveling experience are some of the biggest reasons why I’m excited for this game.
Exactly. Back to good ol days. Surely it wont be like good ol days due to general gamer level being way higher and time to play being way lower, but having participation award facerollfest is something we are so tired of.
@@nicholasjohnson7227 I heckin looove comment. As I’m typing this I just got done grouping with someone near starting area who was a cleric. Made my season 19x more enjoyable and efficient but we still had to respect pulls and rest occasionally. The difficulty open world is back in MMOs!
You have a voice for narration! Great review. I tried Alpha 2, but my computer atm is really old and chugs, thouogh I did play Alpha 1 and didn't have these problems like I do now. This will be a game that will make people build new or upgrade their computers!
@@biggie6559 thank you 😊 appreciate that. Honestly I have a mid level pc and really would like to update my graphics card and gpu for aoc though it runs fine. I just want the visuals more crisp
Questing shouldn't be the primary way to gain experience. Fighting and killing should fill that role. I think it would be better if quests offered unique items, money/glint, etc instead of providing enough experience where you can just level based off of questing. "Grinding" gets you out in the world, going to the PoIs with your group/guild, and builds the social experience. Having solo quests that just give you tons of experience, and allowing you to go from solo quest to solo quests puts you on rails much like a Themepark. AoC is going in the right direction with this, but they should think about adding more items to quest rewards instead of having them give a ton of experience.
For sure. I think grinding should be a thing or even the main way to level, but questing gotta be a little worthwhile too. I like the idea of rewards but less xp
I'm just happy to be playing T&L. But it will be nice to have more than one race...and not have to turn into some animal just to move about. UE5 over UE4 will be nice too.
I saw you start playing my clip and was like "oh my god why he doing me like this" AND THEN YOU PUT THE TEXT BOX UP?!?!?! more like "Savage Gaming" amirite? Thanks for the video and analysis!
@@Nyce-Gaming So my tanking standard is Juggernaut in SWTOR. By far the best tank "feel" in PvP I have ever had. Did you play that, and if so, how does it compare?
Cheers for the info Nyce, glad to hear some of the things to expect as it just gets those things outta the way so we can focus on finding new things. :)
Just finished watching this. It's nice that they're gonna cater to both the New World/ESO Players and the Tab-target players at the same time. Can't wait to try out this game
Agreed. I think the tab-target criticism that's so widespread these days is really puzzling to be honest. Tab-target combat actually allows you to have a much _more_ complex combat system that isn't really possible without it. Yet people act like tab-target = dumbed down. Makes no sense. If everything is a projectile and there's no tab targeting then things often just boil down to "did you dodge the thing or not" if you're the enemy or "did you aim well" if you're the aggressor. Which doesn't have much depth. But with tab-targeting you have all sorts of buffs/debuffs and crazy interactions (go watch some old school duel videos in wow based on these kinds of things, or high level 3v3 arena videos, the depth is actually crazy) and it's more about those unique interactions and less "hurr durr hit space to dodge-roll".
The majority of Eso players are PVE players not PVP. I've been playing Eso since beta and most prefer PVE mmo's. I glad AOC is coming but also glad that Pantheon Rise Of The fallen is going into early access in December. Two mmo's that take us back to how mmo should be, not these new shinny Asian soulless P2W mmo we have now.
The resting seems close to what Dark and Darker has. And I really enjoy the realistic aspect to it. Slow leveling seems epic. It will really mean someting if you are max level then
Get ready for community gated leveling then. This new age of mmo players is all about speaking in meme and if you’re not one of them you’re ostracized because you don’t want to be immature in chat or agree with their views on things.
Love that its hard solo so you have to group up with randoms. Like that you are forced to rest aswell, it slows the pace and you have time to chat with the group. Remember back in SWG after a big pull when the scout pulled out a large camp and everyone was chillin around the campfire 😂
Thanks for the update. As someone who does not want to grind 100 hours to hit lvl 25 in an alpha test I can't thank you enough for putting in the time to test this out.
Was an early alpha backer, threw 80 bucks at the kick starter years ago and forgot about it. I am glad to see the game coming along nicely. I have backed many games in alpha over the years, some pan out and some dont. The reason why I backed this one is because I was sick of blizzard abusing its playerbase and taking us for granted over the years. I really hope this game topples world of warcraft for good and we can throw wow in the dustbin of history for good.
I really like the idea they have for leveling. 100+ hours for level 25, resting, grinding etc. I do not like games that let you max level in 1-2 days, I truly want the feeling of accomplishing something.
This was a great video! You have a great voice and I hope to stay around for a while! For the pre alpha spot testing, unfortunately, I was not able to play as much as I wanted to. I kept running into VRAM leaks. :(
It's on pace compared to other MMOs. Most MMOs announce later in development whereas this was announced before development even started with the Kickstarter campaign.
There should have been a mention that roughly 40% of the 1 zone isn't even finished. What you can atm in the Alpha at least as a solo player is rather limited. There isn't a lot of content. People may be disappointed not by the fact that the game is buggy but there is not even one finished zone in the game atm. Atm the bad solo experience doesn't really stem from the fact that game is to hard i. e. I can't do these quests solo but the fact that you are only grinding mobs. Which is more in fun in a group because usually any gaming activities are more fun in a group.
I miss the days of DaoC where i learned about forming 'hunting parties' to gain experience together. I jad been struggling solo but i made some friends and people that I played with regularly even though i wasnt in a guild.
My question would be based around a late night / early morning gamer. I dont really play "prime time" hours due to work So with the no solo friendly how does this effect pvp during (dead) hours? Id assume way too early for this to be asked but something to keep a eye on as the alpha phases start coming through
@@iAmCLPN I think there will always be action to be found even non prime time due to the very nature of the game. Prime time however will be when the larger events occur like node sieges
@Nyce-Gaming something similar but not completely the same is throne for some reason only holds world boss events during the day time so anyone who works during that time is limited to only being able to run those over the weekend it's not like pop is too low or anything they still hold the other events that are covered with players
@Nyce-Gaming forgot how all the server meshing stuff works Hopefully it's something like bosses spawn at a set time where everyone has the schedule every few hours 24 hours a day So no matter if it's something like a conflict boss in throne where you can go to find pvp or just a boss you need gear from you can always go do that activity rather than being locked into only getting to do 2 days of it a week
haha my man. I am the same way. No need to get burned out on a game when it's in like 1/4 playable state. I'll come later when it's actually way more fun and get other sh*t in my life done first. But props to the people who are doing the lord's work here testing the game
Thanks for the review. I much prefer finding unique spots to grind in an open world to that of hopping from quest hub to quest hub in a cookie-cutter style. After the initial simple class quests, they should become rarer and take time to figure out but give decent rewards or faction.
I agree with what you said about questing, and it’s what I loved about SWTOR. I want quests to incentivize me to explore the map, and build interest in the lore. Not just do it because a daily says so, or to simply fill an area with content. As for mob grinding, I’m alittle meh. I always like soloing until end game; or just being able to do my own thing until the time comes. I.e dungeons, raids, guild events. Definitely not a deterrent or a negative by any means, just my own subjective opinion on that type of play. Still looking forward to playing the game, and seeing its development!
I bought into this game to become part of a community, not to experience a complete game. I suggest that approach if considering purchasing this alpha state non-product.
GW2 players are most likely to get hurt in fact, since in GW2 you regen out of combat like a pixie was injecting stems directly into your blood stream!
I’m pretty sure 50% of the commenters on AoC I’ve seen this past week have a double digit IQ. It’s an alpha, if you don’t want to help test, then wait for the release and keep playing New World. Hahahaha
This is a major concern for me. The fact the emphasis on questing is so diminished compared to mob grinding is a big issue for me, even if it's an Alpha. I would hope the starting quest experience would at least be in a much more workable state, but most quests just seem to be bugged at about 80% of the way to finishing and some quest chains just break mid way, which just makes your time questing feel like a waste of time, when you could've just been grinding mobs. I understand this is an Alpha, but I do hope this is worked on more sooner than later. Reporting bugs related to quests also feels like a waste of time b/c after several patch cycles the exact same bug is there still. Commissions give almost no xp compared to mob grinding, which was another problem for crafters. If you are someone who is interested in crafting, you would think commissions would be the way to go to level up your character and your crafting professions at the same time, but just be aware you will be leveling at a significant slower pace than someone else who just grinds mobs all day. This all being said, I still enjoyed what little time I had to play. I mostly played Mage and while soloing is difficult I got to lvl 15 with very minimal play recently due to hurricane down here in Florida. The mage feels amazing even as a melee based mage which is what I played. The synergy with the elemental empowerment proccing on weapon finishers and the quick casted spells allowed for melee to be viable and the fact each element played off each other to maximize damage, dots and cc was also amazing. At about level 10 you start to really get a feel for the mage's entire kit (I assume the same for the other archetypes) and makes the experience even more fun. The mage bubble also made fighting harder mobs less of a problem. I was able to kill level 5 elites at lvl 5, greatswords and longswords have spellsword variants that boost magical damage and cast speed, which again funnels into that battlemage/spellsword gameplay.
Remember your low levels. Priest may be best solo at that level but I wonder if that is part of the design. Once you get to the 40's and 50's will they need parties? That will be around the level to be getting into guilds if your not already.
@@CestPasFaux-kt9zq LOL good one. That has to be sarcasm. Pantheon has been in development for 10 years and EA in December has 6 zones... and looks like EQ 2 graphics. You hilarious.
@@moforyguy6803 and AOC has 60% of not even 1 zone and has been in dev for 9 years now with 100millions dollars + 6 archetypes on 64 What is the joke ? xD
Not to entice FOMO, but just remember they take Ph1 keys down Nov 1. Just wanted to say that after hearing you say "You can watch streams and decide" yeah A2 starts before that, but not much before that.
Definitely decent compared to the beginning of testing, that being said it still needs A LOT of time in the oven. I look forward to phase 3 of Alpha2 seems like from what they've said that's when the game will be somewhat stable and feature complete.
@@Nyce-Gaming Loved your video about everything so far. Also extremely happy to hear you’re a tank player like myself. Would love to get your feedback on some of my tank feedback.
On the leveling solo aspect, it wasnt that bad for me. Levels make a huge difference, and most talent trees come with AE versions of abilities or new abilities. Find areas that are one or two levels below you and just AoE pull.
@@Nyce-Gaming fighter so far the best, but I havent rolled a mage or cleric since alpha 1. Also played fighter on the most stable build, so that could be influencing it as well, but I've always been partial to fury warrior play styles.
I just hope they have some sort of pack available when they finally release Tulnar. I made that my criteria years ago, and have been tempted by a bunch of the cooler packs (lookin at you steel bloom sets!), but trying to stick to my word lol
I hate to say it, but I'll be very surprised if this makes it to beta without some concessions made to people who like to play solo. The MMORPG is the red-headed stepchild of gaming for a reason - people want an a la carte experience, and having dependencies that made sense in 2006 may not seem playable to someone who was born in 2006. I hope that they do stick with it though. I remember playing anything other than bard when DAoC came out, and there was a lot of down time between pulls if you wanted to do it solo. But grouping up was something that everyone did back then so it felt totally natural. People ain't used to that in 2024. Including me, I have to admit lol.
Corruption scales quicker the more pks you have (Steven said this isn't implemented in the current build but he wants it in by phase 1) So you might be able to cheese it by having an alt cycle the corruption, but that will get harder and harder to do each time.
Think im just gunna try Phase 3 since thats going to be up 24/7 and i think ALOT of other people wanting to play AoC before it releases in 2026-7 will do the same! So idk how to feel about how early even Phase3 still looks with the content promised, im fine with them releasing the game without like alllll the 16 biomes or whatever and just have them released as Major Content Patches AFTER the games release ykno, either into Early Access or Full Release, cause if they try to fit everything in for the full release we will easily be looking at a 2030 release and i reaaaally dont think players want that to be a reality anymore, it needs to stay a meme xD
If they manage to make combat as fluid as black desert online this would be the best mmo in history!!! If the combat is as bad as throne and liberty then it might fail
Well i think Weapon drops should not happen at 1st lvl of corruption. And have strong guards at town entrance and in it is a good idea. They should also make the price of things costlier for corrupted ones, not much with lvl1 but it rises significantly with each lvl. Also at, lets say, corruption lvl 3, the npc wont even sell to them and they have to buy their stuff from black market with high prices
Currently can't trade at all while corrupted. It's not like this is some kind of 'criminal point' system, but a magical corruption that makes you more of a mindless beast.
@@elwow4351 there’s many, and will be a lot more as the game progresses. There’s also weight bonuses which I should’ve mentioned like wearing x amount of medium armor gives u this bonus, x amount of heavy gives this bonus, etc and can mix and match
I think 4, maybe 3 will be sufficient for most leveling. I plan on doing a 4 or 5 man group personally. though some early leveling I was fine in a duo all be it slower
@Nyce-Gaming Gotcha. I got me and 2 others joining me on the 25th with possibly a 3rd, so that's good to know if we stick together we won't feel gated by too few of party members.
@Nyce-Gaming Yeah, everyone I play with always wants to go DPS, of course, so I have to fill the gap, oftentimes being the healer. So, Cleric by process of elimination it is. Lol.
The main issue i have watching ashes of creation is the way the U.I. looks. It looks really bland without any features that stand out, the hp bar only showcasing a number and the same with the mana bar, the movesets just being square stickers placed on your screen with a little spacing. Another u.i. issue is the skills feature, when watching the bard the way the skill tree looked was just horrible, i didn't know what aspect connected to what just that there were squares in a line with no connection to the other squares
i'm 1234837x more interested in the content and how the specs play/etc. but yeah the UI could use some work still. I imagine it will be worked on more at some point
@@EB-bl6cc yea i hope the content is also good that's a huge thing, I just believe the way it looks allows people to kinda get more into it. Like judging a book by its cover.
@@justinwhite2725 yea hopefully that's the case, and tbh I do hope it's an engaging story that they make. The combat might take some time to get use to lol, I don't really play tab target games.
Yea I’m absolutely not a huge fan of the skill trees especially the hard one that was showcased. Far as ui it is very customizable, but I imagine a lot of it isn’t in its final form
First having played the game for weeks now nearly everyday solo I can tell you the bones and the combat are great and it’s there. The issues for me are the desync xp loss on death and loot drop on dying to pve mobs. All that crap needs to go. The grind atm is bad really bad and needs to be adjusted for testing for Full release it’s fine. Performance is is better but the desync is still terrible and mobs are still horrible. Sometimes they attack you sometimes they don’t move sometimes you are able to heal them sometimes you are not able to attack while they beat you to death. This has been an issue for the entire duration of the alpha pre testing and has been talked about in the discord numerous times with still no fix. Overall I’m liking the game but I’m worried about the release direction it’s catering to much to large scale PvP and large clans which has failed every game ever. Not being solo friendly will kill this game btw solo and small guilds make games. Cleric main btw
Resting a lot every couple of pulls? Hello? 1999 Everquest called and is laughing at you. How long do you guestimate it will be until this game actually goes Gold?
Had corruption mechanics will also kill most emergent pvp that will be required to keep end game going long term. When they made the change in AA to increase it, pretty much all of it died out within a couple months and a lot of people left the game because it became boring.
@@mort3346 finding that right balance to corruption will indeed be tough and critical. Finding the solution to get it right will require a lot of time I bet
I really want this game to be a success, but this constant delay and never ending development just gives me star citizen vibes. The combat looks really dated and sluggish, but I know something like that is hard to judge before you actually experience it first hand. It will be nice to start seeing some live streams from content creators though.
@Nyce-Gaming BDO had the best combat, even Tera was better than most tab target games. I played TL and found the combat really stale. Archeage Chronicles is probably what I'm most looking forward too.
@@DoubleDrastik I currently have 3 bars and soooo many slots. Think WoW levels of amount of skill / active boxes. I’m currently planning on doing 1-12 and shift 1-12 with some utility stuff too maybe

quit with the "change the name of the tank to guardian" stuff. The name of a pure tank where tank Archetype with the tank secondary class is Guardian and I have also seen the comments about naming it the Knight which is also the name of Tank mixed with Fighter.
it’s not that serious. also if they change the archetype name, surely changing the name of a class or two that doesn’t exist yet will be easy right? I vote for a guardian-guardian to be called tank 😏
@@Nyce-Gaming but then those that decide to go all in on what would then be called guardian will be called a tank or replaced name where sure having a class called tank isn't very creative but if you take into account once you pass level 25 assuming that is when you unlock secondary classes then no more people would be a tank and instead whatever their combined class is.
i want to try bt im also scared where i play from does not have a suitable ping? any Sea players out there that tried? cause its kinda expensive to try..wudnt want to waste if i cnt refund too
Pking is THEE thing making me not get too excited about the game. That and new world made me very wary of heavy political mechanics like node ownership.
it’s definitely something to warm up to. I will say that I feel pks will be rare once properly balanced. though time will tell. the current negatives seem to deter people but of course that doesn’t mean people won’t test it come a2 launch
