Love this episode, love you guys. Tiny bit of friendly advice, can tone down the energy a bit. Outside voice is good but leaning towards kid presenter. Love the sayings though for wounds and all that. And your mile manored ork player is the best XD
@@thirstyserpent1079 Just translate the in game effects to on the table benefits, would have to look in detail at the bonuses, some of them will be easier than others.
@@dekai7992 Ye, placing a scout squad, a firewarrior squad and a broadside battlesuit guarding a chokepoint, with one stealthsuit squad a few steps in front to grant vision made the whole thing nigh unbreachable against the AI.
Love this! Especially the magnetised upgrades, the terrain and the smoke effects. Really engaging! Is there a way of having some overhead / map shots? It’s a bit hard to keep track of where every one is. Can’t wait for the next part!
I'd confidently say this is the most entertaining Bat-Rep I've watched from any 40k edition or RU-vid channel. The smaller scale and great narration really makes it engaging. Looking forward to ep2!
I really like the way y’all film/present your content. It’s clear, it’s cinematic, and it’s very explanatory without getting too complicated. Sometimes battle reports can feel either too detailed and boring or too pandering and simplified. Keep it up! More battle reports like this will be amazing.
Loving it, completely crazy and very fond memories of the computer game! The terrain is looking fantastic and the added voices is hilarious. I must say what a great idea. Influenced by your madness I have purchased some old school Eldar….somehow I need to fit that in with my latest other crazy projects on the list at the moment. All of my Orcs and old Marines are still in Australia in storage!
This is far and away the best Narrative battle report I've ever seen. I can see this becoming a genuine add-on to Crusade and then evolving from there. You're adding more than what I see so much of, less L shaped terrain, varied buildings, a different setup, consideration for how the rules influence things, discarding the turn limit so things go faster starting out. If this is successful enough you could have a major energizing effect on the narrative end of the entire game. Shine on ZorpHammer, you guys got my subscription.
By the golden throne, you've done a fine job with this narrative battle report. truly an inspirational video that I'm most certainly gonna have to drag my buddies into trying a gamemode like this with my golden boys. a fine video
This was so cool!!! Dawn of War was one of the biggest things that sparked my love of 40K, seeing a projedt like this is so fantastic, cant wait to see more!!
This is so rad. I love that you're branching out and sharing all of the games that you enjoy playing. Looking forward to seeing more DoW and of course, some good ol' MESBG and wouldn't complain about some more HH as well. Armatura when?
This was so fun to watch! I was able to follow the mechanics very well. I feel like I want some kind of your of the battlefield or maybe more wide-angle shots. I had a bit of trouble understanding where the action on the battlefield was. Other than that a really thrilling report. Can't wait for more!
Thank you for the feedback Joe, that's really helpful stuff mate! Sometimes it's a bit hard to truly see how much it translates I'll try and keep some more wide shots in part two, and maybe even look at some mini map options for future episodes if the series continues strongly :)
Great job on this battle report, the buildings look amazing and it's really interesting to see the requisition system giving you limited resources to work with.
Holy shit man! This is so cool! For years I thought about how cool it would be to get a base building aspect in the game. You actually pullen it off and it looks amazing. Instant subscribe, looking forward to seeing more man. Keep it up!
This is fabulous! I have always wanted to do something like this, and to see it done, I am very impressed with this battle report. Incredibly well done chaps!
I absolutely loved this and actually lost track of time because I was so engrossed. I’ve subscribed and shared it with my friends🎉 Seriously great content and good pacing with your edit! Can’t wait to see part 2!
I need more battle reports of this. This is amazing and I want to now try it with my friends. We've been talking about doing a campaign map like dark crusade and this just takes the cake of the play style.
Even though I've not played Dawn of War very extensively, it was kind of nostalgic to hear the sound clips from the game. Nice work all around! I definitely enjoyed watching this. :D
That was great! Such a fantastic tribute to what is arguably the best 40k RTS game out there, even after 20 years! Thank you for all your hard work with this production!
It's strange how when someone come up with an idea of absolute genius, it always seems like it was so obvious all along. How did we not see this until now? Brilliant.
I absolutely love this! Please don't stop. Spent way too much time in DoW and DoW 2 back in the day and this is the closest I will ever see to this on tabletop. I remember the White Dwarf DoW battle between Orks and Blood Ravens back in 4th ed and been thirsting for Imperial vengeance ever since. FOR THE EMPEROR!
Thank you so much Noah :) :) I just finished up part three which is a much more 'classic' set of objectives to get a good idea of what matched play would be in this style, check it out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_HQnIIc1otk.html
Wow. This was seriously the best battle report I have ever seen. Was actually fun and didnt get too caught up in rules and showing every single individual dice while still showing all the important rules. No focus on matched play, just two lads laughing and having a good time. Great stuff.
When I played DoW, when it first came out, I instantly wanted to adapt it to the tabletop. Unfortunately, I was always an Eldar player and never bought into the Astartes. I have a custom-made Exodite force called the Coccinaeldari, painted as Ladybugs, from a made-up maiden world. So this series is hands down one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Can't wait for an Eldar faction! I love the magnet system, btw!!
This is how 40K should be played. Many years ago I ran a game on a 4x12 table.. it was basically a Space Marine thunder run down a long winding valley with random numbers of Dark Eldar appearing. That game itself was inspired by a miniatures set of rules called Pony Wars, Hollywood 7th Cavalry fighting hundreds of Apache in the desert. I have never been inspired by competitive play with strict lists and predictably placed terrain but this is just brilliant. Definitely more please.
This is amazing! DoW was (still is) my favorite video game, and got me into the table top game. What a creative and fun way to combine them, I hope GW and others consider cool base building modes like this! Btw what's your paint scheme for the Blood Ravens? They look great 🔥
I've lost count of how many times I've replayed Dark Crusade's campaign or played the Closer to Codex mods with mates smashing relentless ai hordes, this is bloody fantastic! Bravo gents, subbed for more! ⚡⚡⚡
I remember playing custom rules crusade when you have only limited options and need to spend resources to the buildings, accesing new units so you can progress your units, conversing them with tech tree with some other custom rules like different crusade mechanics. It was my best experience in WH40K although we played in TTS and not IRL
this is literally a RTS dream come true on the tabletop! ive been trying to make a age of empires style game like this for a while but kinda got stuck, i like how you handle production etc!
Loved it Lauchie. A lot of work in these batreps but its a truly unique take which (for someone who's not really into 40k) was wonderful and exciting to watch! Looking forward to the future.
I want to start by saying that I love this so much!! All the work and effort you have put in really shows! All the attention to detail and the buildings are just amazing! However, I just can’t follow along. Because I have no idea what the ruleset is you could have been on the edge of winning the whole game or one move away from a crushing loss. I really do understand the concept and I bet it was a blast to play but, at least for me, I just can’t follow it and there is no sense of where you are in the game. I just want to end by saying that this is amazing! Thank you so much for making this happen!
It's just a narrative scenario to explore the mechanics and hopefully tell a fun story. Glad you enjoyed it, in spite of the lack of clarity of the rules :)
If I had the money to paint, assemble and play 40K, this is the way I would play it. I hope another video like this is in the works at some point. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Great video! I loved DoW and you've nailed it. Beautiful models and terrain, slick production, charismatic presenting. Using the game voices adds a lot to the battle report. I think "Dawn of Warhammer" would be a catchier name
What an amazing idea! Love the terrain, the rules and the interface. The sound effects are so iconic, and it's great to see a painted up Blood Ravens army on the table! Definitely will check out the video on how you made the terrain on your other channel!
