I played Devil May Cry 4 for the first time

Never understood why people disliked Nero I always thought he was cool and I'm happy they gave him the love and attention he deserves in DMC 5

Kyrie is underwritten but her and Nero still look really cute together.

39:50 she wasnt in disguise for nero, but from the organization. in DMC1 her look is a massive plot point because she looks like dante's and vergil's mother. IE. sparda's wife. she went undercover because there was the risk they would recognize her since they are a cult that deify sparda.

Something I like is that Credo, Agnus and Sanctus all have demonic forms based on how they understand Sparda. Credo looks divine and angelic, reflecting how he sees Sparda as a holy figure. Agnus on the other hand looks like a bug, which is actually closer to what Sparda looks like than anyone else because he doesn't really care about holy or unholy ideas, he's just in it for the science and power. Finally Sanctus' true form is just straight up demonic, showing he only cared about what Sparda was rather than who he was. And then there's Dante, his actual son, who isn't that fussed about his image of his father and his devil trigger, which as of this game has reached its mature final form, has only a few similarities to Sparda but is very clearly Dante. Not a reflection or imitation of his father, but his own individual form.

Nero's voice actor is Jonny Yong Bosch. Vergil's is Dan Southworth. They were both power rangers. Dante's is Reuben Langdon. He was a power rangers stuntman too. Just thought y'all might like the fun little fact! Edit: wrote Nero twice instead of Vergil for Dan Southworth whoops

4 Takes place after 2. He is more serious because of the 1st game when he couldn't save his brother. He was darker from 2. But Nero brings back more of his personality. Just a huge Devil May Cry fan.

Nero is the goodest boy in DMC. He may not be the face of it like Dante or the coolest like Vergil, but he’s the youthful glue holding the family together.

You getting hit with a Royal Release and then a Helm Breaker with Dante at 1hp really is the epitome of that fight lmao

Remember ladies, if you hold your man's demon arm and it glows a soft yellow instead of the usual blue, that's how you know your love's real lol

DMC4 has one of the most epic intro cutscenes out of the whole series. When Dante and Nero stand on that Sparda statue. It gave me goosebumps.

Fun Facts: Nero and Kyrie are the same voice as Ichigo Kurosaki and Orihime Inoue from an anime called BLEACH 🔥 in English dub

Dmc4 Dante is actually my favorite version of him. The wittiness is still there but it’s behind this cool and reserved personality.

Nero is the MGS Raiden of DMC. Hated him at first then he grew on us like a foot fungus.

The fact the Nero and kyrie is ichigo and orihime is just amazing to me this is the perfect game for them to be in

This game was hurt by a relatively short development cycle where they needed to maximize gameplay rather than story, that's why Dante's missions are just Nero's in reverse. You can see the issues in the story and characters pop up but the gameplay being a bit less polished let for tech that wouldn't have been thought of otherwise, on top of one of the most in depth action combat systems ever made. This game is very much a flawed masterpiece.

Ahh yes One of my favorite Johnny Yong Bosch roles and game he's in. Seriously the dude's voice made Nero a cool character for me.

11:44-11:57 Good eye. This series does use the "red oni and blue oni" trope in the form of wardrobe color to represent and invoke a sense of the character's personality. Nero wears quite a bit of red like Dante because both are emotional and passionate in what they do (they follow their hearts). Due to the shade of Nero's coat it can look black but other times a very very dark blue, that also brings Vergil to mind, implying Nero has a connection to him as well. (So Nero's clothes (maybe even his hairstyle, effective at making him look a lot like Dante) tell us that he has a similar personality to Dante, but also has a connection to Vergil) You were actually already on the right track by this point. 1:03:39 How ironic...using Holy Water against a priest.

39:42 This might be obvious to you now but in case you never realized, the reason why Trish was in disguise is so she can infiltrate and spy on the church. Trish also had to give them the devil sword, Sparda in order to earn their trust.

Even with all the backtracking, this is still such a fun game.

Devil May Cry 4 is my second favorite of the saga, it has aged excellent and even looks better than many games today, I send you greetings sarah :).

Basically, there were rumors that His Holiness was up to some not-so-Holy shenanigans, mainly trying to get Sparda's power, so Trish was like, "Hey Dante, we have the Devil Sword Sparda, right? What if I disguised myself and gave it to them so they'd let me into their little group?", to which Dante replied, "Hell yeah," and they initiated "Operation: Devil May Troll."

God I can't wait till you get to DMC5. The absolute peak of the series.

Devil May Cry 4 was technically the first one I played all the way through because Ubisoft made such a poorly and buggy outsourced port of DMC3 that I couldn't finish it until I found an unofficial patched version online.

The cutscene at 44:48 is probably my favorite piece of voice acting work in anything ever, Johnny Yong Bosch is frigging legendary

Super excited to watch this, don't know if anyone gave you this cool bit of info during your run but when you're fighting the Blitz (Electric Demon) as Dante, you can press Royal Guard right after doing any melee attack after making contact and that way you can take out his electric shield super quick. It's mega high risk high reward.

Whats interesting here is that there are no actual angels in the DMC lore, yet.

I don't know who made dante as a boss in this game but he/she must have put every piece of hate in doing it to make it this difficult.

Credo is not only my favorite DMC4 boss but also my favorite boss in the series as a whole. His boss fight is just so freaking sick and cinematic especially when fighting against him as Nero or Vergil(Nero's unique buster animations with him are also insanely sick and brutal too and just makes it that much better). Also the fight during the story mode just gives heavy Dante vs Vergil vibes. Also I LOVE Credo's difficulty. He's a difficult boss that actually requires a lot of skill to beat and doesn't really have any bullshit induced difficulty, it's purely skill based difficulty. Such a well made boss honestly, and his design is just sick and combined with that crazy soundtrack it's just....GOD it's so good.

DmC game series is so good for learning about patience and never giving up

Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 2 are the only games that can successfully have multiple main characters good stuff. If you haven't tried Metal Gear you will love the storyline as well as the game play its literally a "master piece"

Itreally is such a major suck how the second half just resuses like EVERYTHING, even the final boss is jsut a reskin of a previous fight against His Holiness. Even if the cutscenes with Dante do make it kinda worth it. Also I wouldn't say Nero is more SERIOUS than Dante, he is prone to making jokes and quips too, he's just way angrier and less interested in having fun.

after your DMC3 video, this is all that I needed, I cant wait for DMC 5 :D EDIT: 19:46 you were SO SO SO SO SO LUCKY in that part, because if you dont land EXACTLY in the final spot, the figure just continues backwards making it a very tedious part and to avoid this you have to hit the dice with your DEVIL ARM to get the number you want from the dice on purpose, and you did not complete that part using that :o
