I'm convinced that this music just plays in College's head whenever he plays in Bo's games. In all honesty though, it's pretty cool to start seeing the POVs of Bo's gang, instead of just interpreting things from the Danish perspective.

Best war system ever, such an improvement over Hoi4. Now a nation doesn’t even need to capitulate for a front line to splinter. Having to tell an army where to push was such a hassle. I also hated the convenience of one field Marshall to assign multiple generals to a front line.

I just completed an Ethiopia run but instead of going north into Egypt I actually managed to push entirely South through Kenya tanzanica all the way through Portuguese Mozambique to border the Zulu. I also colonized the interior and met America and France right in the middle. Weirdly the only colony that kept popping up on the east was the Russians and although they outnumbered You by so much it takes them forever to get to their colony so by the time they are almost arriving you have wiped out the entire land mass and everything is occupied. Honestly a very fun run very complicated and I might add I did it without joining any customs unions or becoming a protectorate

One of the first nations I played was Egypt, it wasn't bad, but once you're established, yeah, I felt bad for Africa.

Honwarlt I do see potential in the combat system. There are moments in my own games where I'm genuinely invested and feel like I'm contributing. And then I see my armies get stuck fighting the sikhs for 5 years because despite having far better troops and generals, local allies, incredible supply lines, and the sikh literally had no operational factories or trade partners because I simply could not advance through the mountains despite winning more than half the fights.

BTW Why Ethiopia doesn't have any gold mines in its geographical region? It's known that during the reign of Tewodros II Ethiopia exported a lot of gold. Gold has been mined there since the 11th century.

Tried playing Great Lakes unifier and it actually went pretty well until Russia went aggro on colonizing East Africa for some reason.

I made a huge Uganda in my last game. I ended up ranked 24 or something like that.

I recommend you try an equalist run on Sweden. It's pretty fun, and you can either go full Scandinavia by pupetting Finland and Denmark or just by reconquering Finland from the Russians. You should also spread your scandinavian higher quality of life to Africa and Central Asia in exchange for materials. It's pretty fun!

Yeah, in the current state of the game Africa definitely just exists to be conquered. It becomes pretty obvious when you compare the vital resource (coal, iron etc) potentials of large swathes of Africa vs, like, literally just half of Germany. You can have a pretty damn fun game playing as Sokoto, though- since you start with African Heritage you can integrate other African states in 5-10 years, which lets you snipe all the most valuable integrated provinces before the big powers get to them. Madagascar might also be pretty playable, but I haven't tried it yet.

Side note: The leader of Shewa is a great offensive general so just click him down on the front and you'll win

Tbh, playing in Africa is easier than Victoria 2 but realistically, you need such a high baseline income to build construction sectors that by the time you get that income, it's late game

To be honest, Ethiopia was easy mode.

I rather form Ethiopia as Gonder, early diplomacy it's a bit rng because you're to weak to fight in 2 fronts, but if you can solo or semi-solo (let's say you fight Tigray and they get suported by idk let's say Geledi wich doesn't share a border), thanks to the event of "the outlaw Prince" (wich gets Theodoros Solomonid in the throne, and you use him as a commander /he has great offensive perks/), plus getting the military +10 loyalty bonus (by enacting or at least trying to get enacted professional army) you can not onlt speedrun the conquest of Ethiopia but also, cuck the French from colonizing Kenya (if you are lucky with law enactment), and if you are fast enough you can even (specially if you invested in military techs) catch the Egyptians with the pants down amidts the conflict with the Turks.
