solid review but I was a bit confused about the maps part. you said they played differently in a way that made it seem like they were a downgrade, but then went on to say most of them were solid or even better than the og. like ik they dont play the same, but your point about the spawns, tac sprint, and all that made it seems like these maps just didnt fit modern cod yet you seem to also think they mostly do.
I think the spawns are skewed toward revenge kills as just another added way to ensure everyone has a 1.0 and there are no good players or bad players. Its just another form of SBMM.

The game won’t change unless people stop playing it but every year people repurchase trash. I quit years ago and can honestly say there are way better games than current cod. You’ll be happier too actually feeling progression again. But many hold on to the memories of what it once was…and Activision just keeps shipping BS because they know it’ll sell.

the sbmm is so predatory. In other shooters with sbmm the matches are actually fair and you aren't going back and forth between all the skill brackets.
Cold War was the first cod I bought since BO3 and since experiencing the SBMM in that game, I'm never buying another call of duty again. Why do people continue to buy it assuming something will change?
If you gave an average person any cod mw 1, 2, 3 multiplayer, told them to pause and go outside for a minute and you switched from one game to another, they'd still think its the same game.
2019 looks better than 2022 or 2023, but that doesn't matter because it plays like liquid dogass. 2022 the same. 2023 is mildly better but has weak streaks and SHG server instability and shit hit detection. also 2023 looks identical to 2022, literally look at the 2022 playlist
Buy this game if you want to die constantly, to middle aged men with neglected family's, and controller aim assist, stronger than your typical steroid user. And i'm sure when the ranked game-play comes out, it will just be a broken system with a bunch of hackers. The only thing good this game has is the zombies. Take it from someone that has played this game series since I was an infant, so if you want to waste $70 on a game, that only wants money to keep for their greedy little dukes, and treat their buy packs better than their employees, enjoy this copy and paste!
I love it when a famous rapper like Birdman makes youtube videos playing cod. It makes the game more relatable to everybody and its just super cool. Keep up the videos Birdman! I used to listen to your music back in the day ❤
Good players will ALWAYS hate skill-based matchmaking. Because good players wanna go around and kill noobs!! To kill everyone and never die once. Because that's "fun", FOR THEM!! But they give a fudge how the noobs feel. Skill-based matchmaking is a GOOD thing! Why is that so hard to understand?
Great review, been watching more of your stuff recently (idk how you never crossed my radar before lol) and really great stuff, earned a sub for sure! I completely agree, SBMM and spawns are killing what would otherwise be an AMAZING CoD experience. When in normal lobbies, it feels great, the camo grind is fun etc etc Sadly Activision is primed to die on the SBMM hill and spawns may need a lot of work to get in a good state.
It seems like SBMM makes matchmaking worse. Having it allows ppl to manipulate the type of ppl they go against, it also doesnt put everyone around the same skill level since it likes to give you the worse teammates while you verse a party of sweats. Before it was all random and you were more likely to find an average player mixed in with some pros and bots but now all those average players are going to be stuck hoping to get carried or they have to try to carry a team of bots. I feel like i rarely get an even team and more often then not you kook at the scoreboard and youre either carrying the lobby hard or you've done nothing while your team has killed everything in sight. You dont get that middle ground anymore.

Also a good tip. You can extract weapons and equipment from Zombies instead of unlocking them. A lot of the weapons are on wall-buy and in mystery boxes. I extracted like half the weapons and all the grenades/secondary equipment in like one hour. Once you have like half of them it'll get difficult to find the rest of the weapons. Best to switch to multiplayer then.

Derail has always been like that. In the original MW2 it rarely came up and when it did it was always voted against. I dont think anyone liked that map.
This is the first COD I have bought in 4 years, and I am having a lot of fun. I played tf outta the OG MW2 so it's cool being back on the old maps with new movement. I recommend it if you are on the fence.
I cant buy this game with skill based matchmaking. I still watch you and support you man but I told myself I'd never buy another COD till they got rid of that garbage.
I think the multiplayer is pretty good. Its a solid 8/10 for me. SBMM is never going to change its just part of COD and most multiplayer games honestly.
Yeah but it’s so heavy in this game it’s pretty much unbearable. Refunded my game after 15 matches. I’m normally a 2.5kd+ player and the SBMM rips the enjoyment out of the game keeping people at a 1.0 every game.
He's 100% correct about BO2. I remember back in the day on BO2 I won 5 FFA games in a row facing against mostly the same lobby each time. Of course that's also because they didnt have disbanding lobbies back in the day 😂
Rank mode was supposed to be the mode for sbmm, while casual mode is supposed to be just casual. A casual non-competitive experience but with sbmm everywhere, what was supposed to be a carefree experience is now always a competitive experience. There is no casual random experience anymore. Just super, sweaty sbmm if you're playing rank and just normal sweaty sbmm for non-rank.
I am going to be real, let me catch my son playing the new MW3 Meat 24/7 playlist. I would have really liked this to be an update for MW2 since it felt like a DLC. With the rising cost and time of game development, COD would really work better with a 2-year cycle.
Imagine if we had another year of support for MW2 (the trash one) where they could have fixed movement, patched some bugs and added some shitty remastered maps from the good mw2

after borderlands3 i swore i would never preorder/purchase a game before seeing gameplay and watching reviews, Birdmans is the only review i trust or need for COD. Been waiting patiently for this one
I’m 1000years old so I want regular COD back. No constant drop shooting or everybody jumping around every second. Unpopular opinion but oh well. Take all that new shit out of old games
I waited for Birdmans review before deciding if I’ll get this game. Hopefully we get a decent cyber week discount on this game as I’ll be more receptive to purchasing it as the nostalgia from the MW2 (2009) maps are what is pushing me to get it
feel that, i’ve always been at least a 1.75-2 and i bet mines like a .8 , and i like to snipe too, not the best, but i can’t even bring my gun up without getting smoked by an AR across the whole map
Out of all the maps, rundown was the most unrecognizable. I played the hell out of it back in mw2, and it felt so different now. Took me till now to realize its the same map
I have the same problem I’m playing on Series X and my game will randomly freeze for a second and bring me to the create a class screen and I have no clue why. One of the funnest experiences I’ve had in a while tho besides that
Ngl I’ve enjoyed this game a lot. Shit feels nice. Prolly my favorite multiplayer in a while. I know a lot of people hate how they’re just bringing back old maps but I love it. I hope they bring back MW3 maps next. Definitely wish they didn’t add MW2 guns and attachments
Honestly, maybe it’s just the nostalgia factor, but I remember liking or at least not hating maps like Estate, Derail, and Wasteland. I think games like Black Ops and MWII nailed their map selection; it’s nice to have a variety of big, medium and small sized maps. I feel like BOII and onwards (up until they forgot how to make maps completely from 2019 and on) they just made it strictly small three lane maps, and while they were fun, it removed the pacing variety of games. Underpass’s visibility did piss me off so it’s nice to see they corrected that. Would be interested to see how these all play nowadays, but you’re not catching me dropping $70 on a CoD anytime soon. Will always show love to the content creators tho
@@andrewj3413they had a 9v9 option with those maps which made it not feel like you’re playing a hiking simiulator. If they had a permanent 10v10 game mode then even these huge maps would play a lot better. Ground war was ruined when they turned it into battlefield
The problem with maps like Underpass, Derail and Estate is while they're amazing compared to the maps they make now they're some of the worst maps in the og MW2
I'm truly enjoying this title. I hated MWII, but this I truly love, I look forward to playing it and am trying to make the most of it before the next title comes out.

I consider myself a pretty damn good player. Been playing since I was 7, and I'm 23 now. I've always maintained around a 1.8-2.0 KD in CoD up until SBMM infested these games. But even with SBMM in MW19-MW2022, I've maintained a pretty decent- good KD. However, in MW3 2023, I am getting my ass absolutely stomped. Every. Single. Game. In recent CoD's the SBMM was strong, but every few games it would chill for a little bit. In MW2023? It is relentless. These developers are hell bent on making sure we have the absolute worst time playing their game. And what for? I have no fucking idea. I have never seen developers hate their customers more than activison. The SBMM in this game makes the SBMM in MW19 look like cod 3 lobbies.
Although I understand the sentiment of wanting to remove the mw2 stuff because of bloat, I do like having my old skins. Plus if I use certain ammo types from Mw2, I can use my tracers. So my Holger has soul bullets and it makes me happy
I agree with Underpass. I was highly surprised. My first match I was expecting a night a rain just more updated. I was like "Oh no!". Then I realized it's the day time after. It's one of my top maps as of now. I can't wait for them to drop the 10v10 on these maps. I have 65+ days in MW2. Over 90% of my time play CoD4 -> MW2 was Ground War. The shotguns are basically the same. The pump is damn near like the SPAS-12, if you do the attachment work. The Haymaker is the Striker basically. The assault rifle style shotgun is a basically the AA-12.
Yeah number 3 is the best option for dealing with SBMM. I don’t play the game, I didn’t even buy the game. Seems like a lot of people are joining in on that and that’s the #1 way we can get it out of the game. Activision may be too stupid to listen, but either Microsoft will give the players what they want, or Activision will lose enough money that they’ll be forced to take action
Honestly I feels like if they implemented strong SBMM for your first 10-20 hours of play time then after that it was severely toned down or even turned off that would be great. That way you somewhat protect the ultra noobs but you also end up getting a nice variety afterwards.
Im actually surprised by this review i expected all hell but unfortunately sbmm in pubs is not something most casuals want i play games at most 60 minutes a day i aint got time to keep up with my own bracket id rather play server based matchmaking like the old days just a bunch of players near each other play together thats how it should be lower ping and server latency make everyones time better
spawns have to be bugged or something, some games are perfectly fine but every now and then ill spawn literally 2 ft in front of the enemies spawn as if its reading me as part of their team or something and i just die in less than a second
