Hey everyone! Nemo wasn’t trying to cheat or act like a hustler when she accidentally dropped the clock - it was just that, an accident 🙂 we both were confused about where the bishop was placed, so we called the arbiter over and we saw that she made an illegal move, and I got extra time for it. Thanks for watching the video
I accept that it was an accident but if I was the arbitration, I would have counted her as timed out. She hit the clock right as it clicked from 1 to 0, after making an illegal move.
Definitely an accident. The tables were a bit small for the boards. In the Alex vs Jules game, Jules accidentally knocked a rook off the board and table onto the floor. In the game between you and Alex, while you were away from table, just trying to sit down, Alex accidently bumped against the table or table leg and the whole board moved and she had to recenter the board on the table. Great recap video, by the way!
@@hylen26 Yes, so she either did buy it out right from FIDE, or intentionally joined tournaments where she knew the competition was weak to boost her rating. that's not fraud per say but definitely it's not the most honourable thing to do! She has also intentionally scammed her fans on a poker draw she hosted with her boyfriend. You can verify and look that up on some youtube videos that provide the evidence. Regardless of what was going on and what she says, it would be wise not to give her the benefit of the doubt when she's already ruined her own reputation several times!
Nice attempt at cheating when you made an illegal move and then proceeded to move your bishop again on Anna’s clock. Reminds me of when you cheated your fans out of a “giveaway” and you gave the prize to your boyfriend instead.
"And....I was BRAVE!!," she says, delighted at her realization. Well done, Anna. You showed GRIT and executed very well under pressure. You deserve to feel great about the win!
I am a lower rated player, and I don't think I would have beat Nemo, but I also found those moves. I suspect she found them long before me, but once in those positions, the right move was pretty obvious.
@TheRealMafoo yeah, it's not finding the line that is impressive; anyone can do that. It's being able to calculate the line so you know for sure it works. This kinda thing comes up all the time in chess commentary. People mistake seeing the move for understanding the consequences of the move. If you can't calculate it all the way, you didn't find it by skill, but by chance.
I'm not a big chess fan, but I did tune in for this game on the live stream, and was glued. Brilliant pressuring play from Anna, great commentary from Pia -- so many times when Pia said the next best move is ... and Anna did it! Truly her mother's daughter. But Anna went her own way and won the game. And then, yes, the clock drama -- all kinds of clock drama! Pia's microphone drama, her dead video feed, and then the players vanishing with absolutely nothing happening onscreen at the 30 min added time mark. But amidst all this drama the strength of Anna's playing was the main thing. Congrats Anna and congrats on (tieing) for 3rd place! I will never forget this awesome match!
Haha there was a certain point where I noticed Nemo start showing signs of stress - and I think she takes losses very personally too, and watching her body language it looked like there was increasing panic - especially after you pulled the knight back... whilst we watched that eval bar shifting against her, so she was just having a hard time accepting the end there...
This was one of the most captivating and well produced and narrated chess matches I've come across. For anybody trying to produce a RU-vid video this is a classic example of how it's supposed to be done.
24:58 I still think clock-gate was dodgy. She definitely let go of the bishop on F5, where it wobbled over to G5 from momentum. She then moved it back to F5 but then moved it onto G4 before picking it back up. But it was the way she held up her left hand after picking the bishop up that makes me suspicious. In my mind, it implicated a sort of panicked guilt. I don't think she meant to knock the clock off the table, or for the bishop to go to G5. I think in the heat of the moment she decided that G4 was better, but instantly realised it was all on camera. Either way Papa Botez made a good call in penalising her and Anna got the win anyway.
@@FMFvideos I had literally never heard of her before this tournament. Until a few days ago, Nemo to me was a fish that got kidnapped by an Australian dentist.
I don’t know this woman who was playing white, but she obviously panicked moving at the last second and it wouldn’t surprise me if she really intended to move to g4. In the end I think the judge did the right thing and there had to be a penalty for an illegal move due to the bishop wobbling over one square and dropping the clock on the floor.
Well done Anna. That was the best I have seen you play, and a deserved win. I know the indicator on the board in your mother's commentary was showing even for much of the ending. But, I thought your king position was much better, and that white was going to have to play very precisely to get a draw.
Fantastic game to watch and huge cud’s for you for finding some very difficult moves to find. I used to be able to predict the options of your moves and see which one you’d take, but hat game there were 3 or 4 I didn’t see. You have definitely gone up a level 👏👏👏👏
This is not related to the video but I thought of this before but for the cow opening you should make variations like the brown cow, black cow, reverse cow (from one of your videos) etc. However good job on your game too!
From this closer angle, as when I was watching the stream, you can clearly see her move the bishop like it was knight, then move it to another position, then back to where it was.
I think the intention was G4 but to make time she pulled her hand too soon around F5 and due to the round base it rotated to G5. I'm no arbiter but to me F5 was its last legal position so that's where I would have put it. That being said, Anna got the win with the move going to the point of intention so that's even better for Anna!
I would feel cramped with those tables. First time they ever ran an event, so maybe next time they would acquire bigger tables. Nice house they rented though.
The entire sequence in the endgame starting with ...Nc8 was simply amazing. You literally found the best moves all the way to the end. Great job. Also..."Passer".
Clear as day bishop f5, then after she moved it to g4. He bishop moved to a black square and then she moved it to g4. Then the smug look of "did I get away with it" while looking down at you
Go Anna! From Sweden and player Peter Eriksson before played in Bodö SK , North Norway ❤❤❤ you make Swedish chess proud, you can beat anyone on the right day, smart & allways nice! Youst love you your woork for the Swedish chess with your family!❤❤❤
I listened to a clip of you only ONE year ago. Your voice was so so much higher pitched and now you sound nice, young but sweeter and more mature. Love your vids full of joy, informatives and entertaining
I know that a common theme is you getting in time trouble and this game was no exception as at one point you were way behind on time. But we have to give credit where credit is due as you played so remarkable and precise at your end game with so little time. I think at one point you made like 3 excellent (according to the engine) moves in a row. Incredible that you ended with an accuracy of about 96%. Your mom was so proud of you for deciding to play on and try for the win instead of drawing. (Passer)
Congrats, Anna. You weren't intimidated. Love the last 4 moves. The clock knock was one of two things. Either she was just flustered or was trying to knock you off your game. Proud of you sweetie. You had the discipline to stick to your game and not get distracted.
First, congratulations to Anna on a masterful win! 🎉 If you watch Nemo carefully throughout the match, she looks increasingly uncomfortable and unfocused. At one point she appeared to be shaking or trembling. I would guess she was experiencing anxiety. I would not be surprised if Anna intentionally took absolutely as much time as she could between moves because she realized that Nemo not only has lost her ability to maintain focus for an extended duration, but also that Nemo would become even more distracted and anxious the longer Anna took between moves. The internet makes “goldfish”out of almost all of us. Poor Nemo has lived up to her name 🎣.
Congrats on the win Anna, I thought maybe you were going to have time issues (again) but you went for it and got a big win! GL for the remaining rounds!
Ohhh what a great game Anna, congrats!!!
Xoxo
Why was Nemo playing fast at 15:00? Probably because Anna was low on time and Nemo wanted to apply pressure rather than give Anna time to think while Nemo's clock was running.
deffinitely was a well played and deserved win Anna, i think nemo panicked and could see she was going to loose, maybe she underestimated you, nemo you are gracious in defeat,
What an outstanding performace at the endgame, Anna, playing a lot of moves with only 2 minutes, superb!. Playing under the time pression is without a doubt one of your best skills. You play so well endgames. I'm sure if you improve your openings to not being so predictable and your time management, you will sure reach 2200
Well done Anna! So many brilliant moves! Amazing! Feel a bit sorry for Nemo! Knocking that clock off and then being embarrassed about it can't have been great but I think she knew she was beaten at that point (not suggesting any of it was deliberate just it must shake you!)
I have been waiting since the livestream to see the recap of this. This happening live happened so fast, it was hard to know what had happened exactly.
Nice game , Anna ! I guess that not going for the draw and take your chances , you can win games and you absolutely outplayed Nemo in the endgame. As for the placement of Nemo's bishop on the time trouble, it was an endgame with same colored bishops for some moves, so it should be clear to both where is was and where it landed
Bok and Hammer were completely sure you'll go for the draw, and Hammer just went to bed. Little did they know! You surprised us all with this string of brilliant moves for the win, congrats on a very strong game!
nice closing game Anna - you contemplated a draw back when you were a pawn up and central position so you were very skilled at closing out such a quality opponent as the brilliant Qiyu
Well done Anna ! What a game !! Great job keeping your cool. Poor Nemo looked like she didn't want to be there. After watching your game against Alex I realized with your move g4 the concept of disturbing the equilibrium. Sometimes the first player to disturb the equilibrium gets into trouble, but don't forgot there are exceptions. I love this concept of keeping the tension and knowing when to chop it or release it. We love you Anna ! Your definitely a keeper. Good Luck. PS Have you ever played chess 960 ? Now I would twitch sub and pay to see that lol Anna plays 960 stream ! Fingers crossed
