I Played ONLY Revenant for 30 Days; Here's What I learned. 

Other than bringing dishonor on you all for forgetting to buy runes and sigils for a whole month; what should I try to do better for next month's Engineer challenge!?

Oh my god, another warrior main! We're so rare. We must stick together! 8 character slots, 6 warriors.

Aight, as a dedicated Rev main heres some stuff I noticed: You ran Condi Weapons (Mace/Axe and Shortbow) in a Power Trait setup, so obviously they wont do jack. Centaur also very much is a pure support option that is for supporting allies, so yeah, again no wonder you didnt click with it. revenant lives off of adaptability, both in the legends and in the traits. Its why Celestial Rev is pretty much king in Open World, you can do everything from healer to buffer to massive DPS to just flat-out refusing to die. Also, and I noticed that a lot, I dont think you ever triggered your Quickness in Dragon stance on herald in the footage you showed. Heralds Dragon stance can be fairly high APM if instead of flipping on the 7 8 9 you flip on Facet of nature and Elite, resulting in the required 6 pips to give you quickness, as well as letting you pop the 7 8 9 off cooldown for buffs and damage. Lastly, and most importantly, Rev traitlines are synergistic beyond compare. It revolves a lot around giving yourself Boons or inflicting specific conditions (Mainly Vuln and Torment) which then triggers other traits. tl;dr I dont want to sound insulting although it probably does but I havent been able to come up with better wording, but it just feels like you didnt read your traits and weaponskills more than just briefly glancing over them, and just equipped what you hadnt used yet.

Herald main here. I don't wanna be "that" person, but if you feel like Dragon Stance is boring, you're playing it wrong. Dragon Stance is your bread and butter, and it should be used actively instead of passively. Here are some tips and tricks: 1) Choose Elevated Compassion as your last trait in the Herald trait line. Now you have the ability to give perma quickness.. 2) In order to provide said quickness, you need to constantly be draining energy from your utility skills alone. Remember, most of your weapon skills also require energy so energy management will be one of your biggest challenges. 3) Herald utility skills are called Facets, and they have an effect both on activation and on deactivation. Activating Facet of Light, Darkness and Strengt will give perma Regen, Fury and Might, but it will not start draining your energy. Add Facet of Nature and voilà, you are now also giving quickness plus additional boon duration that does not count into the concentration cap. Facet of Nature is the Heralds Special Action Key, and unlike the rest of the Facets, it is always available no matter what legend the Herald is currently in. It has different effects in different legends. 4) You will want to swap legends before your energy runs out. If it does, all your Facets reset, and you will have wasted the chance to use the flip skill (deactivation). Therefore, you wanna make sure to always use every Facet twice before swapping from Dragon. For example, the deactivation of Facet of Light is arguably one of the best healing skills in the game. It converts all incoming damage to healing for three seconds after using it. Deactivating Darkness and Strengt are huge damage boosts, and deactivating Nature while in Dragon gives additional boon duration plus condi cleanse (3 conditions). Deactivation of Facet of Darkness is also a stunbreak, so use it wisely. 5) For power Q Herald, combine Dragon Stance with Assassin and activate Impossible Odds when in Assassin. This is a great power boost and it will also drain energy all on it's own, thus providing quickness. If you add Facet of Nature while in Assassin, it will provide life steal on activation and boonstrip on deactivation. 6) For Condi Q Herald, combine Dragon Stance with Demon and activate Embrace the Darkness when in Demon. This will make you pulse torment around you and it will also drain energy all on it's own, thus providing quickness. If you add Facet of Nature while in Demon you will transfer conditions from allies to yourself every few seconds on activation and transfer conditions currently on you to nearby enemies, plus give you might for each condition transfered, on deactivation. 7) Adjust weapons, gear and the rest of the traits etc. according to your chosen damage output (power or condi), and you're good to go.

I love this series, for the longest time I couldn’t get into guardian, but your guardian video inspired me to give the ol blue boy another go and I have been having a lot of fun. I’m a longtime warrior player as well, and I’d be interested to see your take on ranger specifically the Untamed. When you described the play style you gravitate towards I definitely think the untamed marries the the hard hitting of the warrior with the hyper aggressiveness of the willbender that I think would provide an interesting experience. I would recommend mace/mace or hammer for the max unga-bunga.

Your project is very cool. I did something similar, and my conclusion was that I like my main power Berserker so much that all I liked in the game were "variations" of it: Soulbeast, Reaper and my second Warrior as a condi. I have a similar feeling to what you described about Revenant, and I always think that Vindicator will be the way out. But I still don't have access to Vindicator, so I ended up insisting a little more on Herald and as soon as I discovered the hammer and how to use Glint I've been having a lot of fun. I'm an illustrator, so fashion is very important to my gameplay. And it's really strange how difficult it was to find an aesthetic for my Revenant. I think you should consider this, combat is a lot about aesthetics. One last thing, I still don't have access to Bladesworn, and I believe it will be my preferred specialization along with Berserker. I was curious why you didn't like Bladesworn, would you mind telling me?

Someone else finding herald odd satisfies me a lot. I run a Jalis/Kalla Rev on wvw and some open world and i simply cant get used to "press button have boons but do t use more than 2skills or else!"

Dang didn't play on demon stance kali and Demon are such a good combo with shortbow and mace axe.

Funny, but I found the Herald the best for me. The idea is to keep swiftness and might before the combat, unleashing them at the beginning (gaining passive bonuses from a Draconic Echo), and keeping pressure with these and blind/stunbreaker skills when required. It sits really well with condi build (Mallyx) rotation. I wish I could have Herald skills with a Vindicator dodge. The main Revenant issue is a lack of stability and energy upkeep that could be critical if you need a stun break immediately, but do not have enough energy - and some stun breakers require time to take effect (Pain Absorption for example). Another Reve problem is the lack of melee condi weapons. Mace is way too slooooow against a fast opponent (I hate thiefs).

Vindicator mains, beside great sword, what is your second weapon? 😮

For a game that is old you still need a high end cpu to play it on ultra quality EOD and soto eats FPS alot

Glint forgives me, but Herald is very, very boring. I tried, seriously, but it is a big NO for me. It is sad cuz I love playing with quickness.

having perma quickness on herald is what makes it good, doesn't make it more engaging though so your complaints are valid.

Being locked in utility skills always felt comfortable for me, I manage to become good as a revenant because I did not waste time changing and trying out skills, trying to adapt different situations with differet utilities. I know its weird for most people, what can I say :)

vindicator main here, the apm can get incredibly fast if you build around quickness. the strong point about rev skills is that in exchange for the energy system limiting you, all the utility skills have very low cooldown so if you swap legends at the right time you can non stop use skills.

"A lot was riding on Vindicator." OOOHHHHH baby..... I started on Warrior, rotated over to Willbender, and then to Vindi/Soulbeast. I can't decide which I like more so I flip-flop constantly, but Vindicator scratches so many "high mobility big smash" itches.

I had a similar experience but in the opposite way haha, Started with Vindicator and loved it, probably my favorite open world build, partly thanks to sigil of stamina, it lets you just spam dodge against regular open world mobs which was so much fun, definitely recommend trying it! I tried Herald afterwards only to find out its so much more boring and went back, totally agree with you on the Dragon stance, Still have to unlock Renegade.

the cymbal monkey comment spoke to me as a warrior main. sometimes i just wanna go unga bunga, and smash keys in a specific order like im at an arcade in the 90's

Personally when I played Revenant, I never had many options for power builds, it was always just hammer or greatsword, yet Condi gets all the stuff necessary for being optimal... Never liked condi, too pricey for someone like me who doesn't have legendary gear

The thing I like about revs is just how flexible the whole class is. You can provide permanent alacrity with a renegade, you can do perma quickness and one of the best supports in the game as a quickness herald (best dps support in the game hands down), you can have a very potent herald healer which can let you carry groups like its nothing, you can dps like crazy on a vindi and vindi is also a very good healer in wvw. Cele revs are basically indestructible in open world PVE. Doesn't even matter which spec you play, they are all going to feel extremely tanky and survivable because all three specs have easy access to either quickness or alacrity, and each of these classes can roll with perma protection, making you, along with some nutty damage reduction passives one very tanky MF. Basically you have a build for every occasion, any need in the game. There's few classes that come close to rev from this point of view.

I log into my Vindicator fairly often and the beginning of this video was killing me. It's definitely the adhd spec. I'm starting to add more celestial gear for better healing when I swap to Saint Viktor. Should be a lot of fun in metas and WvW.

Vindicator is my main, nothing else in the game itches my itch like vihndicator, im utterly inlove with it

Greatsword herald is really fun right now. You need SotO weapon mastery to use GS on Herald and I must say, I have found my new main. Dragon Stance is really good too for boons and also extra damage.

No clue what you run there on your Vindi but it's sad to see. Those meager 3k hits make me just sad. You could have been wrecking havoc with 20k-30k hits as your lowest damage that spikes up to over 70k per hit. And that with hillarious sustain since you have literally 3 heals, perma dodge, cond cleanse, stab, stun break...

You don't appear to be swapping legends in combat. That's kind of a big deal.

watched video, the only thing that baffled me the most is the fact he doesn't change the stances too often, its what brings out the big quick apm plays and gives the giga drop of energy a refill /cry

That revenant is the best class out there?

I love the way revenants abilities look and feel, but i hate the fact that i can't change the utilities. And it get repetitive really fast. That's why I stick with my ranger. It's one of the classes with the most weapon varieties and the different pets abilities, combined with the big diferentiation between specs, make it feels like a new profession for me whenever I'm bored.

Man you'll love Engineer. Coming from a warrior main I felt the same about Revenant, kinda okay-ish but not that's fun. Then I tried Engineer. Already have way too much playtime on this Engineer, every spec is awesome both for solo and group content. Even core Engineer is fun as hell 😂

I found this series when I looked in on your Willbender video. I really look forward to your others. I have played almost exclusively revenant and necromancer. I really saw a lot of parallels my experience with revenant. I found Herald to be a snooze fest of a build. I never play it. I do enjoy the bouncy frenetic feel of Vindicator but have not had the spec for that long. I do think you made a decision that probably limited your enjoyment of Renegade. You would probably have enjoyed that a lot more if you used Demon stance with Mace/axe as the other legend. I used mostly Dwarf and Assassin on Renegade at first and that Renegade became my favorite after using Demon. Give it a try. My first character ever was warrior and I never got past level 58. I keep the toon mostly for the birthday gifts. Please do necro soon. I played more Reaper than anything and just finished leveling Scourge yesterday. I was on an HP train and now also have most of Harbinger filled in also.

@syzxgamingx Thx for this upload ;) as a new GW2 player who have been through some various builds to find what I like I think this last build in your video of yours look so much fun do you have a link to the final build? so i have something to copy/past to try it out? Keep up the good work

Regarding the cost of equipping classes it just occurred to me that crafting ascended armour will likely save you a lot of money as you can swap it to each new character each month. :) Not sure if you did that already but it's a good investment for the future. :)
