I Played Pokémon as a Bug Catcher 

I have so much respect for Leavanny, a pokemon with high defense, high attack, and the ability to learn to STAB physical moves and swords dance. Absolute legend.

I kinda love that he always uses an in-universe reason for his monotype runs instead of just saying “bug monotype challenge in Unova, let’s go”

We never noticed that bug catchers disappeared after gen 4, but it does make sense. The first four regions took place in Japan where bug catching is a popular hobby while the later regions are based on places where bug catching is much less common.

It was so refreshing to see in Alola how the Team Boss was a bug specialist. It really shows his motivation as an underdog.

I love how, in the canon of Mikey's character, he doesn't know anything about Unova but EVERYTHING about Unova's bugs.

The fact that Pokémon was created from a love of bug catching makes this video that much better. Sad it took me this long to see it, fantastic as always Mikey

These “trainer type” runs are by far my fav, such as the team sky trainer vids or the dark type gym leader vid. And I can’t deny, part of why I love them so much is because of how well they’ve been edited. All killer, no filler!

Bug Catchers got really buffed up Pokémon starting in Unova, it’s crazy how much the Bug type changed between Sinnoh and Unova

This is basically "Mikey appreciates one of the least appreciated types but specifically Leavanny for 34 minutes" and I couldn't have been happier to witness it. I love the gen 5 bugs so damn much!

For anyone who heard about the sponsor and got concerned: Mikey later brought it up in an ASPITPIAY episode (can't remember which one it was unfortunately), he didn't know much about NFTs when he accepted the sponsor.

I never realized there weren't any Bug Catchers in Unova onwards. I guess after Bug Types actually got good they were too dangerous for some random kid with a net to take care of 😂

Should definitely do this challenge in Alola as well! Golisopod, Vikavolt, Ribombee, Araquanid (if you get the Totem maybe better than Golisopod) not to mention Buzzswole and Pheromosa. As well as many older gen bug types. I'd love to see this bug trainer go all the way!

I really do think it was weird to take Bug Catchers out of the G5 games... The best LOOKING and STRONGEST Bug-Types in the franchise were introduced in G5 and G7. Scolipede, Leavanny, Crustle, Larvesta, and Genesect, Escavalier, Accelgor, Galvantula, Durant Araquanid, Golisopod, Vikavolt, Ribombee, Buzzwole, Pheromosa

I did this in Crystal and absolutely loved it. I managed to Guillotine Red’s Snorlax and my starter Beedrill outsped and dealt heavy damage to his Charizard before going down.

I've started doing all bug for all my runs and it really changes things up. In Shield I easily got a well balanced team that could handle everything, but in Shining Pearl I had to sit around a few days because almost all of the bugs were only catchable from honey trees. A steel type Wormadan was MVP, sweeping multiple gyms and elite four once I got it evolved and with Quiver Dance.

THIS CHANGE SHALL BE KNOWN ALL OVER UNOVA, AND BUG CATCHERS WILL BE RESPECTED LIKE GODS

The only times I have ever gotten a female combee in the last few games I played were runs where I was either going gen 8 only mons or doing nuzlocke encounter rules Also, an NFT is nothing but a scam no matter who makes it

11:24 Mickey, I know it's a sponsor and all and the game looks also really good too, but criptocurrency is bad for the planet: every "unit" of criptocurrency is coded in a way so that it cannot be stolen. So, to actually sell or buy any nft product, a server makes a lot of tiny "rubic's cube" for every single coin. Like, it has to convert the code to it's value. It makes a lot of tiny operations, and when something is expensive (or there's a lot of demand) we need to use more and more electricity to support the servers, which means more wasted energy and damage to the environment. Just to let you guys know, nfts are dumb in so many ways, please, let this not be a common thing, it would ruin a world that has already enough scars. Good vid btw, bug type is great

Never thought of that (no bug catchers in Unova, but Unova has the strongest bugs... or at least many of them), but that is ironic... that said, you look more like you are ready for that australian region.

I think my love and appreciation for bug types became more apparent after Alola. In my opinion they definitely had the best bug types ever! Ribombee is my absolute favorite!

In these older Pokémon games, you can change your trainer type with you trainer ID to a bug catcher title if you really want. You can do it in this game I’m pretty sure

They really nerfed Elesa between the Unova games. In the originals her Emolgas (she had 2) knew Acrobatics. A base 110 STAB move in the 4th gym.
