I personally hate the English version when the doll is saying “Green Light” and “Red Light”. From what I know, most counties have their own song saying it. While English, the timing is always random so we don’t know when it’ll stop. If it had a song, then we’d know when to stop and go
In the brazilian portuguese version, they use the song "little french fries 1,2,3" (my apologies for the awful translation haha). After seeing the english version, i understand your frustation.
Fun fact, the doll isn't saying "Red light, green light". The exact translation is "The Rose of Sharon has bloomed". This saying is used to count to ten in games, because in korean it is exactly ten syllables ^ _ ^
@@m.w4683 In Korean of course. It says "무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다". Without the need to understand much of Hangul/Chosongul, if you count the "blocks", those are exactly 10. Each block is a syllable in Korean. Korean itself is no easy language, but it has a very easy to understand and clever writing system. One of the best ones in the world if you ask me.
Let me get this straight, The doll doesn't say "Red Light, Green Light" In Korean, it is actually saying that Mugungha Flower Is Blooming, which is similar but kind of different game to Red Light, Green Light, but the directors probably switched it since this show is for an international audience and most know Red Light, Green Light better. Edit: Guys stop arguing in the replies :|
In my opinion, I hate the English dubbing, I speak Spanish and it has its own song, the same with other languages and with Korean (original). If the squid game were in English and using: "red light, green light" without song it would be disastrous since the doll can change from green light to red light. With the song, the brain can react and stop before it ends, but in the English version it's total chaos. It's my opinion, it would have been great if they added the English version song.
I think the English dub used “red light, green light” because that’s how that game is actually played in English speaking countries. As far as I know there isn’t any sort of song for the game in English. It’s just another cultural difference that had to be accounted for
I first watched Squid Game dubbed in English then decided to watch it again in Korean with English subtitles and enjoyed it so much more in its original format!!!! The scene that represents Red Light, Green Light has such a haunting singing song with the big robot child that you can’t here in the dubbed. Interesting to know what she was saying “Mugungha Flower is Blooming!” 🎶 🎵 🎶🎼
the doll is NOT singing the rose of sharon, if you listen in korean you can hear "mugunghwa" which is a pretty national korean flower. she is singing: Mugunghwa flower bloomed. ty for ur time
