ideal time to play a ubisoft game is 1.5-2 years after release. It's actually complete, patched, and the "super deluxe edition" can be purchased for what it's actually worth, 70% off.
Also if you play their games on Ubisoft Connect you earn points and can trade those points for a 20% off voucher that you can apply on over the top of a discount. So if it’s 30% you can get an extra 20% off on top.
It's a Gamepass game don't expect a cutting edge AAA experience and besides Bethesda ancient engine isn't capable of that which is why the games format was so ridiculously outdated.
Hubris, ego, and greed. Bethesda's ego has been inflated ever since they won so many rewards for Skyrim. They think they are the top dog, and no one is better than them. Emil Paglliarulo, the lead writer, believes complex story lines are unnecessary in Bethesda games because he thinks most people will just ignore them. He quotes, "Keep it simple, stupid.", he openly ignore his critics and continued to make the same mistakes. It explains why there's so much bad writing in Fallout 3 and 4, and they basically have the same story but roles reverse. The greedy part is the outdated engine itself. The reason they keep it is because it's easy to develop games on it, but mostly because of the potential it has for the modding community, which they have been using for years. Bethesda wants to monetize the modding space so they can gain more profit. That's why they always assist in adding Creation Club to every one of their products. And why they take so long to fix their games because they're not really used to it, that the modders job.
@@Nier73h It shouldn't be a modder's job to fix a game that should've had more time in the oven before release; that's no excuse for a multimillion dollar developer. Cyberpunk 2077 redeemed itself tremendously, even though it still has problems. CD Project Red's decision to move from the Red Engine to UE5 is a wise choice; if Bethesda decides to do so for the inevitable Starfield 2 and Fallout 5, more power to them because their Creation Engine is outdated as hell.
it has everything to do with it releasing games on Gamepass on day one means on console that isn't selling well anyway means budgets have to be drastically cut which is why you are seeing so many low quality 30fps games on Gamepass it simply isn't sustainable to invest in high quality exclusive like Sony does when you are releasing them day one on Gamepass as it it simply isn't sustainable so what do you do lower the investment in your products as you know your return will much less which leads to lower quality products it's no suprise the quality has dropped through the floor since the gsmepass model introduced and it is in no way surprising
@joshuatealeaves Ok, but Luke literally talks about how there arent any "actual" loading screens, and then shows the hidden cloud layer louding screen..... That is going to be awkward as hell for people when it turns out to not be optimised for shit.
execution is everything, yes it's masking a loading screen but it's infinitely better than an actual loading screen. At least it doesn't break immersion and you still feel like you haven't exited the game
Watchdogs was a great game. People just expected cutting edge absolute top spec PC graphics on a console and many bizarrely thought it would have a GTA Online style multiplayer at launch which even GTA didn't have ! As a game it was great when it launched and is even better today with all the DLC they added later. Most of the people hating on it didn't even play the game and just parrot what they heard you tubers saying while trying to farm clicks which is obviously far easier to do by hating on things. The slow time gun play and take downs in what we're impressively destructible environments for the time was some of the most chaotic and cinematic fun you can have in this kind of game and was great fun when I replayed it last year especially when you unlock all the weapons, upgrades and hacking skills but some people don't like fun 😂
@@bagelbomb1887 To be fair, even the PC version didn't have the graphics that were shown at E3. Also I did play it, all the way through, it was good but nothing as innovative as Ubisoft described it to be, the city was not even close to the "simulation" they described it to be.
@@bagelbomb1887people had that expectation because that was the expectation that Ubisoft set with their "gameplay" showcase 😐. How is that the fault of the audience? And I played the game and was wildly bored about 5 hours in. "Great game" is a bit of a stretch. I know that's just your opinion but with the way you worded it in your response you're trying to pass it off as fact, with any criticism of the game to be ignored because of people who didn't play the game/ just listened to reviewers, which is pretty asinine
This better end up being the top comment, I was excited about this game until I saw Ubisoft was making it. Sad because I grew up loving Ubisoft and Tom Clancy with all of the original rainbow six and ghost recon games across N64 and Xbox
It's not even about trust at this point, I don't have ANY hopes whatsoever anymore. I mean the combats in that Star Wars gameplay they revealed today was so back its actually incredible, I didn't thought it was possible to make combats feel and look this slow, heavy and boring. It's a futuristic setting it allows for literally endless possibilities in terms of abilities and weapons and the only thing they can come up with is a basic cover system > aiming > shooting with a blaster that feels like a water pistol. Absolute disaster
@Skylingale Ubisoft is the publisher for this one, not the developer. Massive are the devs, so it'll be much higher quality than usual Ubisoft games, however the publisher decides the release date, deadlines, pricing, in game micro transactions etc so it may still get the good old fashioned Goobisoft treatment
It's really no difference to me, I don't normally run out to get the latest AAA title. I know I can always get it later for less (and i can afford it). Getting older does have benefits. Your more aware of what you like, & stands out or is worth it. There's only a handful of games i ever get early access.
Same. Unless you're a content creator, I honestly do NOT understand the craving to play a game early...,especially now when the first 6-12 months after release everyone that bought it basically paid for the right to be a beta tester for a AAA gaming company.
@@bigskypioneer1898you do realize you playing it 6 months after it comes out and me playing it the day it comes out…isn’t any better or worse? If I have the money for something and I want it I buy it, I’m not sitting at the check out screen doing mental gymnastics
Sounds highly curated to get positive reviews, particularly because people trust Luke. I don’t discount the review but I definitely wouldn’t preorder or rush to buy it.
I'm glad it doesn't suck. But technically it's just a well made vertical slice. I'll still be waiting for real reviews before thinking about picking it up. They may have just poured a lot into making that small section work well.
@@darianstarfrog He played a tailored experience of a game that comes out in two months. I think we can say its going to be way more representative than most demos (as he literally says in the video).
I highly doubt it. Stalker 2 already showed signs of trouble when it got delayed last year. I wouldn't be surprised if it's so bad it needs another delay. @@jasonstimson6617
uhh, why is space to planet transfer perfect when there are only a few worthwhile locations to visit? i don't understand i mean, all you end up doing is commuting between a bunch of settlements with nothing in between - fast travel would've made more sense tbh
Stalker has always felt rough. Shadow of Chernobyl was barely playable at launch. But the atmosphere is unmatched which is why it has such a big following.
@@TheWarriors1515You're right. But the war in ukraine is, that's where the developers both live and work on the game. Might wanna know that before making a comment like that.
I can see why Luke gets access. He is very good at being positive for as long as possible, tempering his cynicism. And tears down games after it becomes publicly accepted that they suck.

100% with you! If I find out, a game is made by Ubisoft, I'm instantly not interested lol. I remember 20 years ago, when they actually developed\published good games like Far Cry 1
@@ozzydiorubisoft games even worse than bad, they are by far the blandest video games on the market. lifeless voice acting, boring missions, boring sidequests, bland characters, a gigantic open and at the same time empty world and the worst of all : no edginess, no risks at all. mass produced games trying to appeal to everyone, while appealing to no one. and top of that ubisoft are the #1 on the gaming market in absolutely wasting your time and not valueing it. also their engines are terrible and their graphics are getting worse with each game

@@MrThanefull oh, i didn't see the second hand thing. You're right. Still.. a lot of money probably for the same game with a new coat of paint as always
@@nicomo77 ''probably for the same game with a new coat of paint as always" Ubisoft has to use the same engine for all their games. The devs just add to already existing code to enhance mechanics/graphics for newer titles. Do you know how game development works? Why do you think it takes Unreal Engine 10 years to release newer versions? It takes so much time and money to create new physics for a game engine. What else do you want? For Ubi to stop making games for 10 years so a random guy named Nicomo can be happy ?
@@NavAK_86 oh yeah, I have to buy any game they release without complaints because game development is hard. I am a developer, so yes, I know what it takes.. and I can recognize when a system is copy pasted in multiple franchises with minor improvements or a ui overhaul. Don't worry, Ubisoft obviously can do whatever they want
Finally! Someone said it. People keep saying it's like Jedi Survivor, but no, it hsa the same combat setup and controls and hacking as Watch Dogs. It's just that the vehicles are limited to the speeder bike instead of having other cars/trucks/motorcycles to drive.
idk, it can really go either way. I don't trust Ubisoft enough to say, demo = quality of overall final product. Maybe they made a good demo, and could've slacked off for the rest of the content. Cautiously wait and see kind of deal right now.
This is supermassive games. They also had a similar event with playable demo for youtubers with Avatar frontiers of pandora and the demo gameplay was exactly how the gameplay of the game was. So based on that we can assume this will be the same story.
Or- crazy idea: you can create your own character and join up with anyone. Jedi, Sith, bounty Hunter, smuggler for the Crimson Dawn, empire or republic pilot/soldier, etc etc
Why are games always trying to force us online? If you need to always be connected to play a game I'm never going to get it. I have good Internet too, it just annoys me.
There`s no real shame having load screens, as long as the dev finds a good way to hide them. This game seems to do that very well. Better than Starfield; "Have you seen our load screen? - Look at this awesome load screen? - feeling ready for a nice load screen?..." I am rather suspicious regarding the story and the characters because of... Ubisoft.
Even tho I hated star field when I first try it what turn me off bout it was when the main character didn’t talk I was like what the fuck Bethesda like they always do this main reason I didn’t touch Skyrim only game I like from them is fallout 4 but I wanna give star field another chance but they gotta start getting voice actor for they protagonist
I just don't understand why in 2024 you can't have a character creation system in just about every game. Not too keen on playing a girl who looks like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse but I guess if the game plays good.......
My mans has never heard of a vertical slice. Of course it was super polished and fluid, it's the 3% of a game they've spent 70% of their time on so it plays flawlessly. As opposed to something like STALKER 2 where GSC is going to just show you honestly where the game is actually at because they don't have the resources to spend forever super polishing a highly specific 30 minutes of hype fuel.
If Stalker to was anything like the last one they spent 100% of their time putting 1% effort into releasing a quality product at launch I mean the game is still rough today but at launch 🤮
@@bagelbomb1887 You must not be used to Eurojank. It's such a common thing that it literally has a title. Mid-sized European studio games always come out rough as hell. Most stay that way. Even Witcher 3 was hard to play at launch.
I would say two things, one, I don't think this game is worth $130. Two, think that Ubisoft tend to present really well and then when the game goes live and we see the microtransaction and the bloat we have a better understanding of how the game is going to be
I think I will wait for reviews after release Ubisoft and Disney just make all pre-release reviews untrustworthy. Even if you are I feel like they would manipulate the situation to ensure a good review.
One of my media co-horts/friend got to play it as well and loved it. Their words: This is the Star Wars title you're looking for. The Ship/Planet transition makes sense, as the classic wipes from the film/tv franchises work well with it.
I think the planet surface transition with the ship will get just as old as Starfield, you just haven’t done it hundreds of times yet so it seems okay for now. It’s essentially doing the same thing though, it’s hard locking you into a cutscene for landing, it just disguises it by filling up the screen with cloud cover 😂
So you would rather have a black screen loading that takes you out of the immersion than a landing sequence loading screen which would keep you immersed?
@@ikaraz7362 I am on PC so maybe it is different and your on console but I do not get black screens It goes right to landing animation in Starfield. I like both! I just know it is the same thing and many are saying it is better and it doesn't add up. I can't wait to play this game though looks like so much fun!
Hey, thanks, Luke! You giving this game a fair shake is really uplifting. You're just such a breath of fresh air in this super cynical gaming world of ours. I love Uncharted, I love Star Wars and I love story-rich single player games. This _might_ be right up my alley. Look, I know it's Ubisoft and I hate that company with a passion, but a good game is a good game - no matter the circumstances. And Outlaws' fate ain't sealed yet. It really could be just a damn good game. Combat doesn't look too great, but if exploration, movement, gameplay variety and - most important for me - story make up for that, yeah, I'm game. To no-one's surprise, people still just *want to* hate this game. If it's not their kind of game, fair enough, but it's embarassing how willing people always are to hate something just for hate's sake and because "everyone" does it 🙄 Again, thanks for having a positive mindset, man! :-)
It sounds like this game actually might be good, which is a surprising shame because I just cannot bring myself to support Ubisoft considering all their money-hungry decisions (like the pay walling missions). I would love to like and play this game, but I wont even get the chance to.
I've never been one to fully boycott a company. I don't buy when it's bad and buy when it's good. Letting a good product suffer because of previously bad products only tells the investors that people don't like that stuff. Like when Solo released after TLJ. It was a far better movie, but flopped at the box office because of how bad the previous movie was. Now we haven't had a decent star wars movie since.
@@NoCluYT It was both. Solo was "meh" at best AND TLJ didn't help it. I see no problem with "voting with your wallet" if a company does things that you don't agree with. It's why I won't consume a Star Wars product; because Disney doesn't deserve my money.
I did notice at 2:43 that the main character walked through one of the animals but that can get patched, I won't buy this game when it comes out since I want to wait for reviews and see if there's any bugs that need to get fixed.
Ok, now imagine if instead you were playing as Merrin from the Jedi series. Heist missions, stealth, combat, space travel, AND you get to be a really cool character with witch powers. She earned the name Desert Ghost somehow, right?
Ubisoft has lost their integrity but massive has my trust that they'll deliver on this game, plus I would hope Ubisoft understands how big this could be if it satisfies.
@@vodkavecz Yeah, people have forgotten that Season Passes pre-date the 'Live Season' model. This, like literally every other Single Player Ubisoft title, has one that'll unlock the DLC when it drops. There are many reasons to be wary of a Ubisoft title, the 'Season Pass' thing is not one of them.
I'm bummed that Ubisoft is Ubisoft'ing with their monetization schemes and what they're locking behind the various editions. I'm very interested in this game, but I feel like I have to take a pass on principle alone. At least wait until it's on a VERY steep discount.
A lot of people are saying wait for it to be on sale before buying. I would just pay the $15 Ubisoft subscription for 1 month. You'll easily be able to complete it in that time and then you can play another game like avatar or something with the remaining time you have.
I’m in this sweet spot in my life where i can afford to not play ANY new release because I have a huge backlog of games due to the fact that my son was born 12 years ago. I didn’t really had time to play so i am and will be buying all these games at great discounts in the future
@@frankhemstra634Even the base games are $100.00 not worth half the price. Charge more and they don't put as much effort into them anymore especially when they come broken
This would be a nice game to get on sale. I have never been a huge fan of Starwars but I liked Avatar enough to give this a chance. These games usually go on sale a few weeks later anyway
The game looks awesome so far, glad this is an actual fair review unlike a lot of people hating on everything Star Wars lately for legit no reason. Sucks that your community is now calling you a shill and “how much you get paid to review this” and all that annoying fake stuff in the comments. Glad the game is polished, that was my main worry. Jedi Survivor took over a year to be playable on my RTX 3080 PC, super happy this game so far is nothing like that terrible optimization
10:02 How can Ubisoft accomplish this, but Bethesda can't? (Especially when Starfield randomly generated empty worlds instead of meticulously crafted ones that take up a lot of space.) "I left pretty impressed" If only the Ubisoft showcase gave us that same impression. 13:52 I can't believe they actually gave people the blue alien breast milk everyone clowns on.

The fact the exploration will be split amongst different planets with space battles in between is the main reason I am interested. Hopefully it means it won't just be a super bloated map like AC games.
Tbh SW Outlaws looked nice. Sadly, it looked extremely scripted. That way it is really impossible to know if the game is like that all the time, or just what they showed us. If Ubisoft was smart, this game could have been huge. But they got to f it up.
To be honest, Massive Entertainment has yet to disappoint me. AC Revelations and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora are great games, giving me little to no complaints about gameplay or story. I am looking forward to see what Outlaws has.
@@bagelbomb1887why is that you’re only insult? That, and -phobic/ ist words. Do you people have nothing else to say when you get triggered over someone calling this character ma’am solo? Also, his comment has nothing to do with women existing in SW.
Even with how positive your impressions are, I just don’t care anymore. I’m very tired of Ubisoft game design, time and time again its the same stuff. Big, expansive and maybe even beautiful maps with not alot going on, bland and repetitive gameplay and all the after sale fuckery. This isn’t the Ubisoft of 10-20 years ago.
Pretty much sums up my experience. Ghost Recon Wildlands has one of the very best maps ever created for a video game and Ubisoft did salt-all with it. Most of the really awesome areas were barely even used, like that awesome salt flats -- should have had some really cool chase sequences or something there, but a lot of cool areas just are there to be there and no reason to actually explore them.

They've found a niche where they can sell millions of copies to people who just want a surface-level reskin of the Ubisoft formulae, and it seems to work for them. I still miss games like Avalanche's Mad Max.
