As DGR once said in a previous video, "Its like you gave a Switch to a 4 year old and told them to touch the screen." (Or something along the lines of that).
The amiibos weren't purely aesthetic. Many (most? All?) allowed you to remain small while also being able to punch through bricks. This allowed level creators to do stuff they can't do now with accessing spaces you couldn't as large Mario but get out of other places you couldn't as little Mario.
They're actually very creative with their levels. They have really nice themes. I liked the one where each power up lets you complete the next room, and the final puzzle level was actually very clever and trolly in a funny way.
Bowser (after beating the level): Oh a randomly opened door. That seems new to me. I wonder what's on the other side of it. Level: Nope. 😎 Trampolines: YEET! Bowser: SHIIIIIIIII...! OoF!
18:21 Yes, Yes, SYKE! Dave: We're not dead yet! SMM1: Understood! That puzzle kind should be in SMM2, cuz that's a lot of fun, searching in levels to complete it, but not too insane troll-ish crap.
Remember when Nintendo made that big stink about: "no one likes a troll." You mean that one time in the optional tutorial of Mario Maker 2. Hidden deep in the submenu of the menu? Also in the lore it's Bowser's level so it's actually Bowser forcing Mario to kill Yoshi.
"Bowser's Puzzle Dungeon" Oh god, the TearOfGrace flashbacks are coming on strong. Edit: On the TOG note, Kinda sad ya didn't decide to go through the door at the end there, I was bracing myself for your reaction XD
can we appreciate the small parts about Mario maker 2 that don't add anything to the original but just make it nicer? I feel like the fact ground connects now just makes it visually appealing now
Anyone else miss the costumes? Those mushrooms that kept your 1 block hitbox with the powers of a super mushroom and allowed you to play as different characters?
Funny enough, the in-game characters said trolling was bad, but we always knew Nintendo was into the Trolls. Remember, they made troll levels and famously publicly showed them off before the first game was even released. “Morgan is the Master of Trolls”. An actual real quote made during the Nintendo World Championships which featured Mario Maker as the final. (Just like the Wizard did for SMB3)
The mystery mushrooms actually had a mechanic that was very useful that unfortunately the second game doesn't have. It allows to make it so that the player can break blocks from above as a smaller size Mario while also being vulnerable from above unlike the shellmet.
I did not know Nintendo actually makes hot garbage level too. That lazy enemy spam from first stage is literally super expert hot garbage style. Like seriously I did not expect this type of quality in a stage can be uploaded by Nintendo officials.
YES I'M BAAAACK… Heard that song on the radio today… Maybe if a creator's Mii is a female, in stead of little we can say little Mary!… No, there is only one Checkpoint City! 25:34 Bowser, you dirty turtle…
